I’ve been seeing Amy for several years now, and I couldn’t be happier with my haircuts! She is not only incredibly skilled but also so friendly and easy to talk to. I’ve been getting a bob cut with her for a while now, and what I love most is how well she tailors it to suit my face shape and hair texture. The best part is that her cuts last so much longer than I’ve experienced with other stylists—my bob still looks fresh and polished even as it grows out. Amy truly knows how to keep the style sharp and flattering, no matter how long it's been since my last visit. I trust her completely with my hair, and I look forward to every appointment. Great salon! Amy helped me bleach and dye my hair from black to light blonde with minimal damage and was super sweet and informative. I would definitely recommend going to her!!

I recently visited Manhattan and had to try the famous Pork Buns. While I was there, I decided to get a haircut at a saloon I stumbled upon. Before I went in, I checked out the reviews and Instagram photos to get an idea of what to expect. I was pleasantly surprised by the positive reviews and the friendly atmosphere. The salon was not too busy, and I didn’t need any appointments. Anna, who was helping me out, was very professional and soft-spoken. I highly recommend this salon to anyone who’s looking for a great haircut in Chinatown.

I've been coming here for a long time (~3 years) and have always noticed how fast, clean, and efficient 18 Pell is. They run a great operation over here. It is also very affordable! For the price of a men's haircut here, you can't beat 18 Pell for quality. I always go to Amy. Amy is very skilled and has helped me immensely with my styling and hair care. She genuinely cares about her customers! All in all, 18 Pell is a great place for an inexpensive but high quality haircut (especially if you are asian and have asian hair) and I can't recommend Amy as a stylist enough.

I've been going to see Amy at 18 Pell for years. The staff is great and always attentive. Amy is the best. It's a running joke when Amy asks if I like the cut and since I'm practically blind without my glasses, I always answer "I trust you." Of course, it's always what I need. I have recommended Amy & 18 Pell to others and only know of positive experiences.

this place was so amazing and so affordable! nelson talked me through the haircut and made sure every part of the process was to my liking. he did such a phenomenal job! they washed, cut, and styled my hair for $45, they do accept card, but cash is preferred. i will definitely be coming back 😊

Do NOT book with Amy. She kept pressuring me to get a perm, a balayage, and to let her cut off much more than I wanted. My end result is a horrible choppy mess, with my left side longer and thicker than the right. She knew this and decided to coat my entire head with wax to try to hide. I wouldn’t recommend to anyone, this was the worst haircut I’ve ever had, and Amy deserves to be fired.

I LOVE THIS SALON!! Jane gave me the best haircut I’ve had in years. I was so happy at the end I gave her a big ass hug. and for the PRICE?? shampoo, cut, style/blowout for $45??? I travel all the way from Boston for this haircut. Not only is it crazy cheap (I pay $70 for a haircut for myself and my wife) but the owner here has incredible skills. Don't ask for anyone else. "Kass" is the man you need to see. 谢谢你，Kass。你剪的头发非常棒，真的很有才华！

Jane was amazing! I’m not from NYC and was visiting from VA. Amazing for the price - wash and cut for $45. Jane understood my hair texture and cut based off of it; she was so friendly and bubbly, I highly recommend her services. I’ll be back when I’m in town!

Nelson has been cutting my hair for almost two years now. Clean shop, friendly service & he has tons of experience. I have short hair, he does an excellent fade & worked with me to develop a low maintenance style that looks great.

I have been going here for the past two years. It has been fine until my most recent haircut. I book with the same hairdresser each time, Nelson, but never remembers me each time. I get the exact same haircut each time. I stated multiple times I wanted my hair to be cut at shoulder length as well as showed him where I wanted it to be cut. It seemed he wasn’t listening or seemed distracted. I heavily rely on my glasses to see so when he did the first cut it seemed fine to me. Oh, it definitely wasn’t. I left the hair salon with CHIN LENGTH hair. I know I heavily rely on my glasses but I am not that BLIND to differentiate what SHOULDER LENGTH is to CHIN LENGTH. This is unfixable. There are a lot of other great salons around the area. Will be going there instead.

Nelson did my perm and short haircut and it’s been a month and my curls are gorgeous, I have naturally wavy/curly hair and needed tighter curls and more definition. I’m obsessed with both the curls and the haircut. I showed him a couple of pictures and let him do what he thought would look best and he did NOT disappoint. He texted me the night before welcoming me and sent some example pics and tips. And i texted him a couple days later asking for some advice and he was quick to respond. All in all an amazing experience he has earned a regular client! I paid around 140 which is the perm, haircut, tip and a pink cream he sold me to soften my curls.

I have had good experience here with JZ. He was busy this time so I had to go with this lady called Jane. Terrible experience. I told her to keep the same shape and don’t cut past the jaw line and showed her pictures of my previous haircut. She completely IGNORED all my requests and I had to stop her from going any shorter. She wanted to give me “layers” which totally ruined my hair and made it impossible to maintain in the morning. Also left hair all over my face when she was done. The entire time she kept on brainwashing me and trying to convince me the hair looks nice. Avoid her at all costs!!

This is my second time coming here to get a haircut from Nelson. He also understands my vision and what I want for my hair, I'm quite specific with my cuts and layers. This salon is always so fast, this time I was in and out in 30 minutes! There is an online booking, which usually isn't availble for cash only places, very convenient.

Literally go to any other place, specially if you’re a POC. This one lady kept telling me while i was getting a blowout that I have “too much hair” and that i need to cut it. She would keep on shaking her hair and shaming me for my hair. My hair is perfectly normal length and volume, not my fault your hairstylists don’t know how to handle POC hair, make this salon exclusively east asian then…. they were extremely micro aggressive as hell too. Save your money guys.

My other hair salon in Chinatown blew up on TikTok and now it is a long wait. I checked out 18 Pell Salon instead and was not disappointed. I loved my haircut and it was a short wait time!

Seriously the best salon. So affordable and the stylists are excellent!! Jane is the absolutely sweetest and I trust her completely with my hair cuts.
