I absolutely love this salon. Koco, is my stylist and she does a wonderful job with my sister locks. Everyone that I have received services from here has been great. The salon is always clean, and I love the atmosphere. I highly recommend this salon to anyone looking to start their natural hair journey.

GROWTH and professionalism! I have known the owner to Keisha for over 20 years. I remember when she was on Park Street, struggling to get on her feet. It does my heart good to see how she has grown her business and brought others along with her. Her two shops are indication of hard work, dedication, and determination. She installed my locks, but KOKO maintains them. I couldn’t be happier with the service I get at a natural affair. I’m a In-N-Out type of person. I paid $107 for a frizzy "silk press" that wasn't even all the way straightened. Amaria rushed me out of her chair and my hair looks like it had only been blow dryed. Highly disappointed, I will never be back.

This was my 1st time here and impressed is an understatement! From the location, front office personnel, cleanliness and my stylist (Keisha) !!!! This wasn't a regular hair salon service, this was an experience💯 The efficiency, protocol and professionalism across the board was phenomenal! I felt like royalty getting my hair done and the end results are a flawless victory!!! Do you want to get treated with care, compassion and be with a knowledgeable and dedicated stylist? Ok this place has a great vibe and awesome people. As far as operations go and how the process is they need to work on. So I made a consultation and went to see them. The receptionist gave me the consultation which confused me because she was not going to be the one doing my hair. So I assumed she would just communicate that with my hair stylist. I came back a few days later to get a wash, blow dry, trim, and twist updo. When I arrived another young lady washed my hair, which was fine and I pulled out my medicated shampoo and she was confused. Which told me no communication was made about my hair and how it needed to be treated. My stylist was Priscilla. My hair turned out pretty good but there was no communication about my hair goals or anything that I told the receptionist at the front prior to my appointment. In my opinion this salon could be one of THE best in the country literally but operations need serious work. I probably won’t be back because of this reason or next time just come and have them style my hair only!

The vibe was great and the stylist met with me a day before to talk color. My hair did not turn out the way I wanted. I was left under the dryer and hot color dripped all down my shirt. I probably won't ever come back here. The ladies were great but my experience was not.

I searched my local area for a loc stylist found this place came in around 1 the lady at the front desk asked what I needed done informed a simple retwist was all I needed she called up a stylist and asked if she had any availability for a retwist she said NO because she have a scheduled appointment at 2 by this time it’s now 1:16 p and according to loc website that’s a 30 min style she says I have availability for tomorrow but the hours of operation says open until 7 pm i didn’t mind waiting for whichever stylist became available but was never offered to wait for the next available stylist WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE I ever experienced at a hair salon don’t waste your time going here if you need same day services because this place don’t make accommodations

First stylist lied about being able to do a wash n go. Literally threw gel on my dry hair. I, myself and another stylist had to instruct her to apply the gel to wet hair first. Then the stylist had to show her how to apply it to my hair just for to give me messy locs! The receptionist I had to get my hair washed twice and a new stylist to try to give me a simple wash n go. I ended up doing the bulk of my hair in her chair because her method

I liked my hair. My appointment was on a Sunday morning. My car was broken into lucky the cop was coming around the corner, and a lady was sitting in her car at the time. I won't be going back for this reason alone and wouldn't not recommend it.

I ❤ the the way my service was rendered. I had the stylist name Nesha she was very friendly and perfesinoal. She made sure she gave me what I wanted and also made sure I was very comfortable..I most definitely will be back . A natural affair is the best and the rest of the stylist and clerk was great and friendly as well.

I just spent $110 and walked out of this salon very disappointed and dissatisfied! Kelsea did a rush job on my hair and it looks nothing like the person who recommended me. I’m no professional but I have done my hair in flat twist better than this. 12 flat twist total and 9 individual in the front with a trim. She did not manage her time well and did a rush job on my hair so that she could get to her next client.

I've been going to A Natural Hair Affair for almost three years, and I can't say enough good things about my stylist, Koco. The salon has a great atmosphere, professional services, and knowledgeable stylists. Koco is incredibly fast, skilled, and truly cares about her clients and their hair. She's the absolute best, and I couldn't be happier with my microlocs and the overall experience!

This is my daughter's first time away from home freshman basketball player at Memphis and Dominique did a great job on educating her on how to take care of the color in her hair and she did a great job on her dry 2 strand twist. She actually likes it even better the older the style gets.

If I could give no stars I would. I wouldn't bring my dog to a place like this. They started out great but over the last couple years the whole environment has gone down. I walked in for a consultation and the lady saw us walked in and preceeded to go to the back. I didn't think anything of it. I stood at the front desk for 15mins no one came. I eventually set down where they obviously saw me, again no one spoke or said anything just let us sit there. We just got up and left after 10 more min. I had numerous of bad experience each time I have came, but today was the last straw. Its too much to mention about the other occasions, but I will no longer support this shop.

I love this place. I always go here for my natural hair care needs. Both myself and my daughter always leave with a fresh look. And they actually take care of your hair. Would 100% recommend. I wish they had a location closer to home.

I went there today for a silk press, and they were very punctual and thorough which I liked! My hair was detangled with care before blow drying it and I really value that because breakage is not ideal. Tierra did my silk press and although I needed so much cut, I communicated that I wasn’t ready and she respected my wishes by cutting just enough then adviced me on a trim routine. That was the most painless flatiron experience I’ve had, and I love it!

Fair Warning: My experience at Natural Hair Affair has been inconsistent and disappointing. While Victoria provided excellent service during my initial visits for braid down and trims, my recent experiences at both the Cordova and Popular locations were highly unsatisfactory. At the Cordova location in 2023, the detangling process was painful and my braid down was poorly done, with loose foundations that unraveled easily. The service at the Popular location was marred by unexpected fees, such as a $55 charge for exceeding shampooing time, and a lack of proper deep conditioning despite being advertised. Additionally, in November 2023, a new detangling fee of $35 was introduced, adding to the already exorbitant cost. Despite the friendly demeanor of the providers, the rushed service and lack of transparency regarding fees have led me to seek alternatives elsewhere. Clients should be wary of sudden policy changes and undisclosed charges, as they undermine trust and fairness in the salon's practices. As a result, I paid a total of $123 for a braid down without any extensions added at the Cordova location, and a total of $102 at the Popular location, both of which I find unjustifiable given the quality of service received. I can no longer recommend Natural Hair Affair and have chosen to share my experiences to caution others.

I LOVE MY COMB COILS TIERRA DONE A GREAT JOB I NORMALLY WOULD JUST WEAR MY HAIR CUT LOW AND TAPPERED SINCE DECIDING TO CUT MY HAIR OFF I SAY ITS BEEN 3 YEARS NOW AND EVER SO OFTEN I WOULD GROW IT BACK OUT JUST TO CHOP IT OFF AGAIN 😄 BECAUSE I DONE GOT ATTACHED TO IT BEING LOW AND NOT AS LONG AS IT WAS BUT ANYWHO ITS MY FIRST TIME EVER GETTING COILS AND I LOVED THEM IVE ADMIRED THEM SOO MUCH UNTIL I FINALLY FOUND SOMEONE TO DO THEM AND HER PRICES ARE VERY REASONABLY IVE FOUND MY 2ND HAIR STYLE NOW OUTSIDE OF KINKY TWIST SHES ALSO MY DAUGHTER BEAUTICIAN AND MY DAUGHTER LOVES HER SHE BE SMILLING FROM EAR TO EAR AFTER HER HAIR GETS DONE I WELL WE BOTH WILL BE RETURNING AS USUAL!!

This was my first visit here, and I am so glad I decided to come. I am new to Memphis, and I was looking for a good beautician for my natural hair. I have had an ABUNDANCE of bad beauticians. I chose Victoria when booking my service, and I’m glad I did. She is so professional and knowledgeable. She was gentle with my hair. She is extremely nice and I loved the experience. I will be returning! UPDATE: My mom has cancer and lost all her hair. Out of support, I cut my locs. I have been working on growing my hair back just to return to this place. Chi started my previous locs and she is amazing! Perfect parting, just great overall. I went back today for a consult. I have never had a bad experience here, and I am grateful for that. I am so excited for Chi to start my locs again.

I truly want to thank Shelbi for the great customer service she provided me. I think A Natural Affair really got blessed when they brought Shelbi in. I know I can be a bit much with having a lot of questions when it comes to my hair, but she answered every question I had with no problem and I felt that she really cared and was very attentive. She really made my experience feel very welcoming and comfortable. She definitely has made me a forever client with her. I’m so happy with everything she did and can’t wait to come back. I’ve come 3 times over the course of years- once as a teen, twice as an adult. I kept giving the salon a try to see if the outcome of my hair would improve but it never did. The first time I asked for a trim, and literal inches of my hair was cut. Atleast 4. I got a flexi rod set that came out terribly due to the mousse they use. I went to school the next day feeling embarrassed. I vowed to never return but recanted that statement as an adult because that experience was a while ago. The second time, my twist out came out ugly due to the use of mousse on my very dense, nappy hair. I was disappointed but said I’d try again. The last time, my hair (which is very strong and hard to damage) broke off in a patch as a result of rough detangling. Yes, my hair was VERY tangled, I get that. But I have never broken 3 combs in my hair- and neither has any other person (professional or otherwise) who has detangled me in a far far worse state. I consider that a skill issue. Clearly someone who has low porosity, thick tangled hair needs more than a rinse of warm water to detangle with ease, but the stylist didn’t seem to have the intuition to know that. The salon is hurried, and I suffered breakage. In my experience they only use mousse for twist out type styles. I asked if there was another product like a cream to twist my hair and the stylist proceeded with mousse and again, my twist out came out dry, flaky, no bounce, and ugly. It seems modern salon culture caters to what’s convenient for the stylist, rather than what’s needed for the hair. I would not recommend this salon if you have a free afro, that is fast growing, long, dense, thick, very coarse and takes time to do (as you will be upcharged for basic services that all natural hair *requires* like deep conditioning or detangling, but because you have more hair, you’ll pay more and it will be rushed). If your hair balls up on itself with mousse, do not go. All stylists should be compensated well, but black hair of my kind takes time no matter if I come in freshly detangled or tangled up and nobody (at this salon and others) has the patience anymore- and I am taxed for the way my hair grows. You may enjoy this establishment if your hair is more manageable, or if you have locs.

Receptionist at the Germantown location. I been going for my retie over a year. Victoria my stylist always does a great job. This day I call to inform the receptionist that I was running late and couldn’t make it outside my 15 minute window, she stated that I would have to reschedule and would lose my $50 deposit. I stated I still have 1hr 1/2 standing and maybe Victoria would finish or I would rebook if not. She still would not let me come. I made over a year worth of appointments on time and you would not try to accommodate me after one emergencies. Never again. So things happen for a reason. This is my third poor experience with this company/brand. I went in for a consultation when I was told a retie is $125. I paid a 50% deposit, $62.50. I arrived to my appointment and was asked did I receive a quote or do a consultation. I was happy (at first) that the lady who performed my consultation was there. I told her I was quoted $125. She came back (I was under the dryer) and told me it was $200 for two hours. After returning to the stylists seat, I told her what I was quoted and Gabby, quickly came over and flat out lied stating she told me about a transfer fee of $200. She then stood ten toes down on that lie, stating the receptionist overheard her. Side note: I made 3 trips to the salon over 2 weeks and the receptionist didn’t remember my name or face or what I was there for. (Neither here nor there) The issue could’ve been resolved if she admitted her mistake and I would’ve been happy to pay. IF she had mentioned a transfer fee, my deposit would’ve been $100 and not $62.50. NOW that I’m home and realizing I paid $265 for an 8-10 week retie, I’ve been to the salon BEFORE and had them service these SAME locs. So the entire lie of transfer fee was wholly unnecessary. I was already in the system and already a client. The MANAGER lied and overcharged for my appointment. Being that this is my third negative experience, I will not be doing business with this company again. Please reconsider where you spend your hard earned money.
