Starting a cosmetology career in my early 30s was very uncomfortable for me at this establishment. It was already a significant shift in career but the faculty made the situation even more of a pain. Most of the instructors communicated with adult students as if we were children. The curriculum was always conflicting w/ what the instructors were teaching . In my opinion the enrollment specialist was always having an alleged meltdown & would very strangely establish a “friendship” with students to find out what they’ve uncovered about the school so that she can help the owners strategize against them… the clipper cuts were mainly given to the barber students, the black clients were mainly pushed off on the black students from my personal experience…. In my opinion the school used their observation of certain students skill sets & placed them with clients based off their own preexisting knowledge of services , rather than what was taught… I felt extremely uncomfortable with the esthetician instructor she was very knowledgeable in my opinion, however very disrespectful & it didn’t help being enrolled with so many younger students I think they felt all the more comfortable to talk to older students like adolescents. There was a senior instructor that was very knowledgeable and I appreciate the things that she explained & shared her knowledge on. The day that I graduated the majority of staff behaved very unprofessionally. The admission specialist did not come out of her office to congratulate, nor did the now nail instructor. I believe strongly that this was due to them reading what I assumed was a confidential exit survey of some sort where I shared my opinion about the faculty. Overall I honestly feel bad for the faculty there that are stuck in that environment. Their cosmetology careers or whatever was left of them ran its course & they are stuck there in what more than likely feels like hell to them ….

My Sister Was Doing Me A Service Here & They Didnt Have Really Any Supplies For Them ! & Don’t Get Me On The Fact That I Gave Them My Registration Fee For Them To Kick Me A Week In & Not Return My Registration Fee Is Crazy The Lady I Was Suppose To Speak w. Over Taylor Even Blocked Me .. But I’m Not Surprised Giving A Lot Of Their Past Students Warned Me About Attending Here Said It Was A Big Fraud ! & I Agree

My experience was rough going to school here, but there's pros and cons at every school/beauty school out there. But the bullying, racism, vaping in performance area, not enough supplies for everyone, very messy and teachers sometimes are rude-pick favorites or even talk about their private sexual life to students and than the Boards are not up to date or fixing broken or frayed things. I graduated in July so things might have changed but my friend still goes here and hope she has better experiences. I do enjoy Taylor the admissions director and there's good qualities to all instructors. But even studying for the Boards was hard due to instructors and board teaching different things. I think it's a good school overall if you're not there for too long sadly. I do think they offer decent things, skin products and some students im glad I have met. But not being able to sell products, practice reception, or even be able to offer clients water kinda sucked but again I was given good materials to study from and did very good on my boards. Study the website as well!! And the tests were great and they did try to keep up to date on all students as much as they could. I'd love to say more but I can't share anything else about students. But I do wish more money went into the school if that was possible ❤️

Awesome students and instructors. The students are great at following the instructors directions. I also got to see a graduation.

Greedy owners, unorganized classes, outdated lessons, minimal supplies. Bad experience. Don't go to this school if you want to learn, just go to teach yourself and get your license.

My daughter and I both got haircuts today. Everyone was friendly, they gave us advice on what would look great on us, checked to make sure we were happy, and did a great job!

Horrible school and programming. Rate 0/5. 35+ students transferred here after Paul Mitchell's unexpected closure. The ABP did not provide required supplemental education to finish their programming as required by the state. There was no schedule of pre-planned classes or specialty courses. Students sat around day after day on their phones visiting with no addl courses despite empty promises from Dave (owner) and Lindy (Instructor) FOR MONTHS to start holding specialty classes still needed. 3 Mitchell teachers came with the students and knew what all the students still needed for their programming so it should not have been difficult. A planning meeting wasnt even done until a month after students transferred in, and nothing was implemented months after still despite promises of starting the next week after. Several students clocked in the morning to their time sheets, then left the building since there was nothing to do all day and came back later to check out. alleged Guest speaker was no-show. Students were given some random appointments, often for specialty services they never received training or education on yet. Teachers were not consistently available on the floor. students had to rely on peers. On the rare occasion that a pop-up class session was held (less than a day notice) students were not blocked off from appointments so they could attend the class.Over half of the Mitchell students withdrew from the Academy within a few months. The rest stuck it out due to being close to graduation anyway (having had enough training from their prior school) or having no where else to go for their program nearby. A few Mitchell teachers also left due to dissatisfaction (Although Dave will try to tell you otherwise). The teachers admitted to the students their dissatisfaction with the school and tried to advocate for the students. The previous bad reviews are all correct. Poor materials (old donated scrap nail polish), dirty facility, cold water at the wash sinks, teachers MIA, poor products.Student feedback surveys were not positive. One batch of student surveys was thrown away due to "inappropriate" feedback (i.e the truth was told). Admin walks around with no concern for the students having nothing to do. Dave's previous claim on prior reviews that it is a program that promotes student's individual needs allowing self directed time is bologna. There is no excuse for lack of courses. Students were given random tests on thing they were never taught. Many of the positive reviews on google are actually active teachers who are obligated to give positive reviews (notice they are in clusters after a group of bad reviews to try and boost ratings), or reviews from family of the owners (Kwiteks). One of the Mitchell students passed away unexpectedly while enrolled at the academy. The funeral was out of town and the students were told they were only allowed to be away from school in the morning and had to return to school for the afternoon after the funeral , yet no classes were even occurring. Dave claims the ABP chain has had several other teach-out agreements at their other locations when other local schools closed. Yet they completely failed at being prepared or competent in providing the STATE REQUIRED Education the students paid for and deserved. Follow-up: ABP feel free to provide your correction to my alleged “invalid” data of the Mitchell student enrollment & withdrawal #’s. As instructor Lindi said herself after 1 month of being at the academy, many students were complaining to her that “their learning/education ended when they left Mitchell and transferred to ABP” which was the reason for the planning meeting finally after 1 month of sitting around. Of which said meeting resulted in NO new programming done for the following 2 months after that still, despite empty promises. What programming you have on paper now to appease accrediting organizations does not prove delivery, and still doesn’t change the fact that the prior Mitchell students 2 years ago sat for 3+ months with lack of programming.

When I arrived for a tour, hoping to be a future student however, I have asked to see if the school would have nights, weekends or even part time available? Unfortunately, they do NOT. If I recall, the admission lady was very polite said that they are open mon-fri 8am-4pm and Saturdays only? In one week you have to complete a certain about of hours, done in 6months. As a full time worker and a full time mom, hours will not work. If you're interested in coming to this academy, please be sure to be available during the day. I wish there would have been more classes available for those who have a full time job and being a full time mom out there. Most instructors and students were just wondering around when I was there. I did not continue the tour. If you have any ideas where to study or have a better availability, please let me know. I hope this helps. Maybe open up more opportunities for those who want to persuade their careers.

Amazing place and an even more amazing experience! Shanika is more like a pro than a student! She did a really great job on my hair, and just as importantly she did a more than exceptional job at making the experience a positive one! Definitely will recommend this place to everyone I know! ☺😃

I called in the morning and was told they didn’t have any appointments. Talked to one of my friends there and was told they don’t have any appointments and that all the cosmetologists were just sitting there. She made me an appointment. This girl BUTCHERED my hair. Not only did I walk out crying..I did not have an instructor even glance at my hair before they sent me on my way...my hair is SO uneven. 3-4 inches shorter than i asked for. And looks completely TERRIBLE! Never again will I go there!

Definitely wouldn't go here. Unless you're specifically going for only the nail program but even still don't go here you're better doing an apprenticeship or going somewhere in the Fox Valley area. While going to school here I literally had to teach myself. The "nail tech" instructor I had was license as a cosmetologist which isn't so bad if she knew what she was talking about and knew what she was teaching, but instead she has been doing hair for 20 plus years and has a "passion" for nails but has no clue whatsoever on how to do extensions with acrylics or hard gel let alone anything else that has to do with nails. She knew how to do a manicure and pedicure but even then the work was sloppy. I only stayed because I did not have a ride to go all the way to Appleton or Madison or anywhere else that would give me that would give me a better education. I had to constantly complain to another instructor about my nail instructor because things weren't getting done. Day in and day out I literally did whatever I wanted. If I wanted to do manicures that day I did manicures if I wanted to do an acrylic set that day I did an acrylic set I was literally left alone and to fend on my own while my "nail tech" instructor was off helping other Cosmo students with haircuts or following around a different nail tech student because she wanted to hook up with that student's father. The supplies that we received for all basically Walmart, dollar store stuff, super cheap, and easily breakable. We also had a work with donated nail polishes that work who knows how old they were. Our area where we keep the nail polishes was always kept in the Sun instead of a nice cool shaded spots. Other non Nail Tech students went into the Nail Tech area and were allowed to play with acrylics and hard gels. The owners father used to own the school but filed for bankruptcy so the son is the owner of the school now and the father is still allowed to come to the school and dictate as if he still the owner. Not only that but the owners father has a really bad habit of creeping girls out touching them inappropriately. When he shows up a lot of the girls tend to go into hiding or go on "lunch" if they didn't have a client because they don't want to be around him. There's so many corners that's been cut not just in the nail tech department but in every Department that's there. The school is physically tearing apart it's so old. There's this ugly yellow and purple walls that they refused to get rid of because it was there from when the school was Empire. Things are never done in a timely manner but they demand that your payments be made on time even though your education/training isn't being done on time. They have a habit of losing your hours and your payments. Then deny any wrongdoing on their part. The whole time I was there trying to get an education and training I was literally learning on my own YouTube has taught me more on how to do nails and to be a nail tech than that school has ever did. The only thing I can say is that Joan is and was the only person that helped me prepare for my state boards. I honestly feel like if Joan wasn't there working at the school that's the school would crumble. She is the only one working there that actually cares for the students and their future in this industry.

Great group of students, very experienced, knowledgeable and caring staff. I highly recommend this school.

I attempted to go to this school in fall of 2018 and my experience was honestly comical. The ONLY person I found impressive was the woman working admissions, she was extremely sweet and helpful. Students were just hanging out the entire day talking loudly amongst themselves with what looked to be little to no supervision while they did no work. I was in a group of 6 or so and my instructor disappeared for ridiculous amounts of time with absolutely no sign of her or any other instructors in the salon area. The other students were rude. We took a tour of the school and it was absolutely disgusting. It looks so unkept and underfunded. Mannequin heads were provided that were super greasy and gross and had been used by other students. The supplies used was shared and dumped together in bins and all looked like it came from the dollar store. I believe I even remember the instructor saying you don't get your kit until before your board exam. At the end of the day the instructor left the other new students and I alone for at least 40 minutes and we walked out to see if we could see her anywhere and no one was able to be found. We went back to the classroom and laughed ourselves to tears over how ridiculous it was and they all felt the same way as I did. I saw one student working on clients throughout the day, that one student was the only student at that school that seemed to be even slightly on task all day. I don't understand how a school like this can run. This was all my first day and I did not return and found a new school to go to and after comparing the two, I truly don't understand how this one is still in business. I feel bad writing such a harsh review but if I would've seen more of a variety of reviews I could've saved my time and looked elsewhere. Hopefully my experience was just a really really off day for the school.

I had a great experience at ABF. I had a pedicure recently. Facility was very clean. The staff and students were super friendly. The girl who did my pedicure was fantastic. She did a great job.

I had a horrible experience with my hair. I came in for special occasions hair and makeup. My makeup turned out amazing. But my hair was horrible. I gave the lady a picture of what I wanted done with my hair (mind you, the girl who was supposed to do my hair originally, never showed up) but my hair looked nothing like what I wanted done. Plus, she curled my hair, put hairspray in it, and then proceeded to brush it out. What was the point of wasting my time and money? I could have put straight hair in a bun by myself. Also forget to mention, that the next day I couldn’t even brush out my hair. It took me a bottle of conditioner, and pulling chunks of my hair out in order to get the snarls out from what she did to it. i ended up not even going to prom because of my hair.

I love ABP, and all the wonderful experiences it has give me from getting to work with awesome students to meeting the most wonderful of clients and having some of the best learning experts around me!! Everyday is a new Adventure and always bigger then the last... Stop in and see for yourself how wonderful of a experience it can be, while leaving with a AWESOME new summer dew..

The student I was very good. I got a color done and I loved it. It took longer than normal, which I had expected. Great job for a low cost. Will go back!!!!

Would not recommend going to school here. If you want your hours lost as a student, or to be talked to funny by the owners creepy dad named Jon that likes to touch the girls go here. The place is falling apart physically and they do not like to redo anything because they are cheep. Very unprofessional place. Do not go to this school.

I came here with a friend for manicures and pedicures and we had a great experience! The students were very professional and the environment was laid back. I would recommend to anyone looking for salon services at a good price!

Lauren gives the best facials! So professional, I felt I was in a real spa.

Come on, guys, it's a SCHOOL. They charge TEN DOLLARS for haircuts. You can't expect to get an experienced. stylist who knows everything and can read your mind and automatically give you the perfect service in five minutes! That being said, I’ve had my challenging, cowlicky, thick, crazy hair cut into three different pixie styles by three different stylists here and they have all done a great job. For $10 plus tip, I have absolutely no complaints whatsoever. It’s a great option if you’re poor but still want to look fly. Just communicate and be patient. I love the students and the staff and I would absolutely recommend this place.
Feb 06, 2019
I really wanted to love this school. Please don’t spend your money here. Drive to an Appleton school-anywhere else. There must be dozens of code violations. Always out of product. The owner is more interested in showing off than teaching. Most of the instructors try their best, but they are unsupported, poorly treated and unprepared to teach. I honestly don’t know how this place stays open.
Feb 06, 2019
The instructor's and students work hard to do their best
Feb 06, 2019
Very caring and knowledgeable students and staff. Fun environment. For being “students” they show incredible skill and professionalism.
Feb 06, 2018
Enjoy going here. Everyone is super professional and does a good job. Even if something might goes wrong they always fix it and find a way to make it right!

I had one of my best experiences at Academy of Beauty Professionals,Green Bay. Very professional ! I was there for the Hair blow-dry & styling service plus the light make-up . Kelsey did a wonderful job and styled my hair perfectly for the occasion and Alexis teamed up with her for my make-up as I was on a tight schedule. She did a very good job too! Their instructor, Prudence was very warm and in fact set my appointment for the same day. She also helped in choosing a hair style that would suit the occasion. Very happy with the overall experience! Will be back definitely!
