I had been looking for a LGBTQ+ friendly barber for quite some time. After doing some research, found Mason on Instagram and booked an appointment. Mason has been incredible. Not only can he do any kind of fade, he works so well with longer hair too. He makes you feel like you've been good friends for a long time the moment you sit in his chair. Acute Salon overall feels like such a safe space. Queer people can have a hard time finding a comfortable barber shop or salon that where you feel validated. Acute Salon truly feels like a space for everyone. Looking forward to a long relationship with Mason and Acute Salon.

Loving Acute Salon! I have been to see Charli twice now. The first time was for a haircut. She sends out a form as a new client to get to really get a feel for my hair goals and an idea of what kind of haircut I would like. I had a very specific style I was aiming for. My haircut was wonderful! I have not said that in a very long time. My second experience was for color and a trim. I am loving my color (and the trim). We sort of mapped that out during my first visit. She even sent a text to follow up because I went from brown/gray to very blonde. I really appreciated that. All the other staff members I have encountered have all been very nice as well. Read about the salon on their website. It’s a great place. I definitely recommend checking them out. By the way, I randomly came across this salon on instagram and took a chance. Very glad I did.

I drove over four hours for a gender affirming haircut at Acute Salon and would do it again. I booked with Nina for a much needed gender affirming cut with severe hair anxiety. (I’m talking 4 1/2 years since my last trim level of anxiety) As a genderfluid person in the trenches of dysphoria, I knew it was time for a change and desperately needed something with the potential to be more masculine while simultaneously keeping my long locks that I am so attached to and leaving room for a more feminine look. I genuinely wasn’t sure if it was possible. Not only was Nina super patient and understanding, but took the time to help me put together a vision of what I wanted. They gave marvelous input, were kind, caring, and compassionate, taking the time to make any changes I wanted to make along the way. I left with a cut that was everything I wanted, but couldn’t put in words. I definitely teared up once I got to the car because I couldn’t imagine that it would be possible to feel comfortable being me, much less experience gender euphoria, and Nina and their skill definitely changed that. I would recommend acute to anyone and will definitely be back.

One day in 2023 I decided to do the big chop— and I am forever thankful that Charlie had an opening that weekend so I could act quick before I started to change my mind. They were quick to welcome me, get full alignment on what I was looking for and went straight in— delivering on the promise of crafting a hair cut I loved. Over the past year I have made the Dallas to Fort Worth for this growing salon— not just because of the craftsmanship and professionalism but also because of the people. I recently moved away and after being a client for just a year, I consider the stylists of Acute among those I'll miss seeing back in Dallas. I could not recommend Acute enough, not just for the services and skill but for the people as well. I am going to miss this group and am excited to watch them grow!

Every service I have gotten at Acute salon has been great! The stylists take great care in making sure they give you the hair cut you want. Today I saw Mason and he did a great job with my hair cut! Listened to me and was super kind. Cannot wait to come back.

Good space for people. I genuinely love getting my hair cut here. Everyone is friendly and talkative when you would like and quiet if that's what you need. Nina is who cuts my hair. You should go to her as well.

I love this salon. I felt so welcomed. Everyone there was nice and friendly. I absolutely love my hair cut, I feel like a new person. Everyone has been complimenting my hair cut, and I feel so so so much more confident. I will definitely be coming back time after time, because I know my hair will always be good coming out of that salon. 10/10 for my stylist Syd!

I’ve just had my hair dyed and done, and it turned out amazing! The atmosphere was so welcoming, and it is truly one of the best salon experiences I’ve ever had. Nina did amazing on my hair, and I 100% recommend you to get your hair done at this salon. :)

10 out of 10 service from the get go! I was so lucky to have my stylist Nina pop up on my for you page on tik Tok. They are so gifted and I was very pleased with my entire hair transformation!! They did an outstanding job meeting my needs and wants!! If you can make the trip here!! You won’t be disappointed<3!! Forgot to mention a big selling point is they are queer friendly/gender affirming!!!

Amazing, inclusive, LGBT+ friendly and safe!!! I’ve been going here for years now and they helped me gracefully grow out a pixie cut. They also did an American Wave Perm for me that was sooooo gorgeous and long lasting!! I’ve never been happier with my hair.

I had such a wonderful experience at Acute. My best friend sent me a gift card to treat myself after a break up. I met with Damon who gave me a great cut. A few months later I came back to see him and got the most incredible bob. I had a previous bad experience when cutting my hair this short but I was reminded that it depends on the stylist. So thank you Damon for helping restore my confidence and love of my short hair. Cannot wait to see you for my maintenance cut!

Literally, THE PLACE to go if you are young, queer, and/or alternative. These people take amazing care of you, give you guides on how to keep your style looking amazing, and are just generally down to earth. Money and trust have been well spent here. Would recommend 100 times over if I could!

Syd has been my stylist for the last 6 months, and so far the experience has been great! They make sure to check in with me each time and ask questions so that we’re on the same page when it comes to my hair. The salon itself is lovely, truly a safe and welcoming space. I wouldn’t want to go anywhere else for a cut or color. 💙

Acute may be a long drive from me, but I make the trek every time because of my barber - Mason. He’s a master craftsman who I feel very comfortable with due to his communication skills, work ethic, and consistent results. I have also worked with Gaby in the past on more intricate hair projects involving color and they were a joy to work with as well, delivering incredible alt looks that I got so many compliments on. I can also say I’ve chatted briefly with most other stylists around Mason’s station in the chair and I love the conversation and vibes. You can really tell how much this team loves the work they do — and they’re damn good at it too!!

Acute salon is such a safe space to go too. In @mason.the.hairbender (IG) chair he always makes sure to spend time on consultation. He’s really great at listening and understanding what your style is & is honest with what the results will be. He definitely wants you to leave his chair fullfilled and sexy hot lol. He’s always able to make my vision come to life! Been with mason since December 2023. I always come in with different style cuts with designs. No matter the style or design I bring in, Mason always figures out how give me a sick cut each time! Even through the awkward stages of growing my hair out. With being a fellow trans lad he’s been able to provide amazing products for bread growth and just advise on keeping up with everything through his own experience! Mason has also been amazing with my son always has been able to give him amazing cuts, great conversations and being able to letting him use there fidgets to help him stay comfortable. Thank youu masoonnnn! Highly recommend!

For years, I searched for an affirming barber who would give me the haircut I wanted, and then I found Mason at Acute, and my search was over. Mason has been my barber for over a year now, and I get a perfect haircut every single time. I had never made getting a haircut a priority until Mason became my barber. Now, I religiously go every two weeks. The salon itself is one of the most welcoming spaces in FW, and Mason makes sure every person who sits in his chair feels welcome and valued as a client and as a person!

I get my haircut by Mason and I always leave feeling much more confident than when I walked in. He also knows how to style my wavy/curly hair which I’ve never had a barber do for me. He has a great personality and is the only barber that has bothered to have a real conversation with me. I’ve never felt as comfortable at any other barbershop/salon as I do at Acute Salon, which is a huge plus for someone that is a part of the LGBT+ community. I highly recommend this place!

I have been coming to Acute Salon exclusively for all of my cutting, coloring and styling since they have opened. I have been working with stylist Damon Butler for all of my formal event styling appointments for the past year and half now and have gone in for a blowout or styleout almost once a month and each time they have come out absolutely exactly how I envisioned them. Damon has previously worked at Drybar and has been with the salon and in the industry for years and I cannot recommend him enough. He was also able to get me ready for Indian wedding events multiple days a week for multiple weeks in a row and can also style and place formal South Asian hair jewelry. Whenever I need to look my best for any type of special event, I know to book with him.

I've never felt more welcome in a salon. Everyone was extremely nice and Syd did a wonderful job on my transformative cut! They were easy to talk to and made me feel comfortable in the chair all while giving me excellent advice on how to get my hair exactly how I want it. Definitely recommend!

I’ve been going to see Mason for a while now and he is genuinely one of the best people/barbers i have ever met! I came in the first time for a big transitional hair cut and was worried about what it would look like. He did an amazing job and kept reassuring me that it was awesome!! He has now become a good friend and still my favorite barber. He makes every customer feel comfortable and at home when they’re in his chair. (Plus they are also very fun and have great senses of humor) What truly makes this salon stand out for me is my stylist, Gaby. They have been the mastermind behind my entire hair dyeing journey, and I couldn’t imagine trusting anyone else with my hair. From the very beginning, Gaby has made me feel completely welcomed and comfortable even when I was scared of dying my hair. They listen intently to my hair ideas, offer amazing advice, and are always eager to explore new and creative looks with me. Whether I’m going for something bold and edgy or even something more subtle, (RIP the blonde, hello red again) Gaby nails it every time. Their talent is truly remarkable! Mason is an awesome person! He makes me feel welcome and comfortable every time I go in. If I feel like talking one day, he's happy to converse with me. If another day I feel like just zoning out, he's completely cool with it. He doesn't make me feel weird about my different moods. He is one of, if not the best barber I've ever had. He doesn't rush through the haircut. He makes sure he does exactly as your asking for. I've really come to love this place. Everyone is so nice. I feel like family now!
