They were honestly so mean for absolutely no reason and when I walked in treated me with disgust which was super startling honestly. If you don’t want to help people then don’t be a salon owner! That’s all.

I cannot possibly rant and rave loud enough about my experience at AD Hair Studio! Alice and Deb are amazing! The BEST cut, color, highlights etc on the upper east side! Alice’s expertise in mixing color/low lights highlights etc is always on point! Alice is a true artist of color and cuts!! I’ve never been happier!!!

Alice is the best hairdresser and colorist, period! I have been going to her for the last 4 years and don't trust anyone else with my hair. She knows exactly what it needs whether it be a cut, color, gloss, treatment or keratin and she puts so much care into my hair. It has never looked better or felt healthier. When I first came into her studio it was unhealthy, badly colored and damaged and she has completley turned it around. Her talent is clear and her studio is the most welcoming, familial place that is the coolest community of women. I look forward to all of my appointments and love seeing Alice and Deb!!! <3

I never leave reviews, but wanted to share that Alice does such AMAZING Keratin. Leaves hair silky smooth and lasts for months. I’ve tried other salons, and this is by far the best I’ve found in NYC!

Simply put, Alice is AMAZING! She has been cutting my hair for years and does an amazing job! I usually get a gloss as well as in the summer a keratin treatment to keep my curls in check! She creates an incredible community in her shop. Most people are regulars for sure, by the time you leave the shop you’ve made a new friend. Highly recommend the place!

AD Hair Studio is definitely the best salon on the Upper East Side! I have been coming here for 8 years now and continually get asked by friends who my hair stylist is because they are so impressed with the style. I always leave feeling happy and beautiful with my cut and color. Alice takes the time to listen to exactly what I am looking for and she has the natural talent and ability to execute my look as I envision it. She also has a super cool and vibrant personality and you will receive such positive energy from her. This salon is truly a rare hidden gem on E 78th St 😊

Found the salon on the way home from work. They just did my hair. I am super excited. It looks awesome. The stylist in there and the owner are amazing people super friendly and knowledgeable. I would recommend anybody looking for a salon to come visit.

I love AD Hair Studio!! I’ve been going to see Mairead and Alice for close to 8 years. They know exactly what they are doing, I’ve not once left feeling upset (unlike many other salons). The new space is gorgeous - it’s so bright and airy. I refer everybody looking for a cut/color/style there. They are the best!

I went to Alice and Debbie in a hair crisis, with my graduation in just a few days away. I called in a frantic and Debbie talked to me over the phone asking all the right questions while simultaneously calming me down. I was able to meet with her and Alice that SAME day so they could talk to me and make a plan for action. They were kind enough to squeeze me in the next day! I was met with open arms and kindness the entire process! The environment they have created in the salon is more than welcoming and heart warming! I am excited to go back and see them both- I cannot thank them enough as I get ready for graduation pictures what will last a life time ♥️

I’ve been coming here for almost 10 years! Won’t go anywhere else. Alice is a magician with her color and cuts. Truly, there’s no one like her. And Deb is the operations mastermind that ensures a wonderful experience from the time you make your appointment to when you walk out the door w your fabulous hair. I have been coming to this salon for years and have nothing but wonderful things to say. Alice and her staff are truly the BEST. A few years ago, Alice convinced me to get Keratin treatment to de-frizz my curly locks and ever since, my hair has never been better. I can't recommend it highly enough, and do to all my friends! For a great haircut, color and Keratin treatment, Alice and her team are top notch!

I’ve been going to Alice and Marie for 4 years now and have had nothing but perfect experiences with them. They are both very knowledgeable and know exactly what they’re doing with hair. The first time I came in Alice saved me from a disaster at home hair color job, and since then she and Marie have created and maintained my blonde that perfectly blends with my natural color. I have them to thank for helping me grow out and take care of my hair for the time I’ve lived in NY, and I will miss them dearly not only for their hair expertise but also the experience of being in the studio with Jen and them because they’ve always made me feel welcome and beautiful!! I truly can’t recommend AD hair studio enough and I’m so sad to be leaving nyc because I’ll have to find another hair salon.

I am so happy to have been referred to AD Hair Studio! I recently had my first appointment with Mairead who transformed my hair into a platinum blonde - seriously she gave me the best color and cut I've had! Walking into the gorgeous space was such a reprieve from cold this past week. It is bright, warm, and exceptionally clean. I also felt very safe with the Covid protocols they have in place. Alice and Deb, the owners, are so warm and welcoming - I felt like I was catching up with old friends during my appointment. Gen was incredibly friendly as well and was efficient helping me book my next appointment. I came in with one vision for my hair and while they would've done everything I initially wanted, what their suggestion was ended up being a thousand percent better. Sometimes you just have to leave it to the experts. I've already gotten so many compliments on both the cut and color. Amazing neighborhood find!

THE BEST! Alice is a true artist and her passion truly shines. AD Hair Studio specializes in blondes, and in my 13 years living in NYC I've never found a hair salon that even comes close to the magic Alice has. I can't recommend highly enough!

COVID/Safty Precautions: It is clear that the women at AD Hair Studio are taking COVID precautions seriously. 1) Upon arrival you will now have to ring a doorbell to be let in 2) When greeted at the door, a temperature check and contact tracing form will need to be completed before you can enter the salon 3) Hand sanitizer is readily available, personal hand sanitizers and masks are provided 4) Pen cup indicates which pens are sanitized and which pens are "dirty" 5) Plexiglass partitions between all stations and register area 6) Each station is sanitized between clients 7) The staff all wear masks properly covering their noses and mouths Services: I have been going to AD Hair for four years and it has consistently been a class act! Alice and her staff have greeted me by name and welcomed me in. Alice listens, hears, and understands her clients' needs and gives professional recommendations when asked or if it is needed. Alice is a master colorist and it shows with the care and detail she takes when tending to my hair. I came to Alice with over-processed hair and she guided me through my hair journey resulting in healthy hair with luster, a stylish cut, and she always nails the color. If you want to look good, all while supporting a female-owned small business this is the one! Not only has AD Hair Studio been a staple on the UES for years, but they are also a staple in my happy healthy hair.

You will not find an all around better hair experience than at AD Hair Studio. First things first - Covid safety precautions. Only scheduled appointments are allowed in the salon and even those will be temperature checked before being allowed to enter. They require a contact tracing form to be completed and will offer you your own disposable mask and hand sanitizer to use while in the salon. They have multiple plexiglass partitions and keep ample space between all stations. Further to this every. single. surface is sanitized after a client comes into contact with it. The staff wear masks and gloves the entire day. Ok, now the fun stuff! Alice (one of the owners) is a master colorist and has trained her entire staff. Her industry and product knowledge is truly unmatched. Over the many years I’ve been coming to AD Hair Studio they have taken my hair on a journey and it’s always remained healthy - even during and after two pregnancies! I never feel uneasy about going there as I have every confidence in their abilities. They know hair so well and are honest with their clients about the condition of their hair. If a requested procedure will compromise the health of someone’s hair, they will work with their client on devising alternative options. Even when my hair felt unfix-able they were able to figure out a way to make it better and guide me on how to help it regain what it lost. It may sound crazy but I’ve never not loved my hair after a spin in Alice’s chair.

Came in for the first time and was very nervous since a lot of places don’t always do what you request. Not this place. They listened exactly to what I wanted for my hair and had the patience to teach me on how to style it and solve my volume dilemma . Not only were they so great with my hair but the place had a fun warm atmosphere. Felt like I was surrounded by long time friends. Will definitely be back!!!

! No one does hair better than Alice and Debbie. I started going to AD when I had a major hair emergency. My former hairdresser completely ruined my hair color and hair (she turned my blonde hair completely ashy grey) and I went to Alice to correct the mistake. Alice came up with a plan to bring my hair back to life...slowly! She refused to do too much to it at our first meeting - she first wanted to bring it back to health and that she did and more! Since then I have been seeing Alice for my blonde highlights, balayage and haircuts. She looks at coloring and cutting as an art and works thoughtfully on each step of the process. I am always happy walking out of the salon so much so Alice did my hair color for the biggest day of my life - my wedding. On top of that Debbie does my root shadows and glosses to keep my hair looking fresh in between my full color applications. Alice and Debbie love what they do and it shows. I highly recommended getting your hair done at AD Hair Studio. You can thank me later.

BEST SALON ON THE UPPER EAST SIDE. Alice is the best hairdresser I have ever had. I went in with overly damaged, self-bleached hair. Not only did she save the color, she gave me a fantastic cut and my hair feels healthier than it has in months. She really knows what she is doing. The entire staff was pleasant and professional, and the salon itself is very welcoming and has a great vibe. Don't waste your time going anywhere else in Manhattan! Alice was professional, expert, and exceeded all of my expectations.

People ask me who colors my hair all of the time- and I tell them Alice!! She knows exactly what to do with my blonde! She also is an absolutely amazing gal to talk with! Just want to start off by saying this place was amazing had such a great experience ! Alice was wonderful and so accommodating. I went in wanting a change but didn’t know exactly what I wanted. I decided on a caramel balayage... it came out awesome. I rocked it for a few days but then realized toning it down probably fit me best and was more in my comfort zone. I called and asked to come in the next day they worked around my hours which was late ! But they didn’t mind. Spoke to Alice about my hair she completely understood how I felt, which made me feel super comfortable. Toned it down to a darker shade of color without loosing Dimension in hair (which I loved) and on top of that got a free blowout ! Definitely coming back again !!

NYC's best kept secret! I literally feel like i lucked out. Read someone's review and decided to give it a go (and im very particular about my hair). Not only was Avi the best hairdresser, really taking his time to do what's right for me and my hair, but the entire staff are lovely. Gave me a discount for my first time and loads of samples. Love it there! Try it, you will be So glad you did.

This was my 2nd time at this salon, wanting to go back here for many reasons, besides having another appt nearby. I had my hair colored and cut by two different stylists, probably because of the time I wanted the appt, they explained by phone in advance that I'd have to see Marie (spelling?) for the color and Nicki for the cut. The one-process color was done first which went very well, I really like Marie's personality and professionalism and they had even apparently kept my last color info from a year ago so I didn't have any trouble with that experience, the color came out very natural looking and awesome. On the other hand, the cut turned out to be a hot mess... I had a picture of what I wanted done, which was a layered bob and my hair was very long and grown-out from a 4-month old layered bob. So I was very clear on how much I wanted taken off though I had less of the length cut which we agreed on. But she argued with me from the start that I had to keep my layers longer than I wanted to for no good reason. And with the bangs she did not trim them as much as I wanted either though I repeatedly told her to take off more. She said she would go by the picture and she said she appreciated my being so specific about what I wanted. But in the end she had really just given me a trim all around and for $95 I was really disappointed in the result because I did not want just a trim. She did what I wanted when blow drying it but she did not check when it was dry to make sure all was even with the length or sides. When I got home I had to trim parts of everything myself. Not only that but I found myself trimming my bangs a few days later another 1" or so and have been continually trimming the bangs since the appt. She was a nice woman who supposedly knows how to cut hair but she didn't really listen to me at all. I like this salon for the most part and some of the stylists but I guess it just depends who you end up having so I would be careful about only requesting certain stylists in the future.
