So my friend recommended this place because she went her to do her make up. I saw my friend make up and like it. Today is is my birthday and I booked the appointment on instagram. I was hesitant because she didn't take a deposit, there was no actual confirmation other then "confirm" and she didn't even have a official price list. When I mean priceless I mean like the flyer things that list of all the services and prices. She literally send me the three make up types with no details. I confirmed with her since July 19. I texted her yesterday on instagram saying I'm confirming. I received no response. I decided to text today before spending money on a Uber. Lucky I did because when I texted her she didn't know I was talking about today because she ask if the session was today. I understand last minute emergency as she said but as professional business person you should communicate. Which she did not do. At this point it's also courtesy and common knowledge. I think she forgot and use the emergency card. If i still went, i would have been out of money for the uber. Then I have other plans as it's my BIRTHDAY and I tried to find someone last minute but cannot. I'm highly upset.

The Owner of this shop is such an OLD soul. Hospitality Professionalism and Overall Excellent vibes is what you can expect when entering & leaving. I’ve been going here for 3yrs now. God Keep this shop in our mist for it is one in a million. Thank You Rougi❤️

Don’t come here, they messed up my hair. My scalp was red and irritated, I ripped those braids out of my head so fast. My head was tender for the next 2 weeks, never coming here again.

I am totally satisfied with how my hair turned out. This was my first time ever getting braids so i did not know what to expect. I gave my stylist a reference and she nailed it! Scheduling a reservation was simple, by text. I appreciated the professionalism and attention to ensure that the braids did not feel too tight, which they did not. The process was fast, about 40 minutes. It has been 2 days and I have been getting non-stop compliments. This was a job very well done. I will return.

I got feed-in cornows and I love my hair. The stylist was very sweet and professional and asked very specific questions about how I wanted my hair and explained how it will look to ensure I was satisfied. My braids were not tight and they were neat. I will definitely do my braids here again.

I have nothing but positive things to say. I've gone to so many different salons over the last few years, struggling to find the right one and now I've found it. I'm never disappointed when I leave this salon and my hair is always looking flawless! Rougui is the absolute best! She's professional, kind, flexible and efficient! I highly recommend Afrostar Beauty Salon.

Rougui literally fit me in last min for a full sew in w/closure she was very polite and efficient she addressed all of my concerns and made sure I was happy with my end result before I left. She even gave me some great tips for my return, and I am definitely going back. Thanks to her and her team :)

I came here for the first time on Saturday evening. I am beyond satisfied with how my braids came out. I have been receiving endless compliments on my hairstyle. Besides my hair looking really great - the owner is a sweetheart. She’s very professional, accommodates you and has great talent. I already can not wait to be seen by her again. 11 out of 10 in everything from hospitality to satisfaction of service (my braids).

I went to get my hair braided for my birthday and I must say I was not disappointed at all. The owner was kind, courteous and very friendly. She took her time and braided my hair and it came out so neat and clean and the best part is that they’re not right or pulling. She had the color ready. She put on the Netflix so that she can make my appointment comfortable and offered snacks which I do appreciate. Sometimes you spend so long braiding your hair and all you can think about is food. She also did my hair in under 5 hours and so that made the experience so much better. I will definitely be going back and encourage everyone to give her a try. And the place is clean!

This place is great. Came here twice and my medium sized box braids came out neat and clean. Not too tight which is a major plus and the best part is that I was out of the chair within a few hours. Would definitely recommend!

This salon is okay . The first appointment I had for Marley twists were satisfactory although I did come in within the week to fix the color which was a combination of error , I didn’t but enough of the hair color and I lazily let Rougui go to the beauty supply to purchase more and she didn’t get the color to match. Third visit on 12/29/21 was okay, even though she was almost an hour late ( the appt was 10am and we didn’t get started till 11am). To make up for her lateness she did work with two other people on my head. My issue is when I got home the ends of my goddess braids were unraveling. She didn’t seal the ends with glue only knotting which one of the three did TERRIBLY. Charged almost $300 at the end and I still ended up staying up glueing and rebraiding the loose ends. The owner was willing to “see” my hair two days later, today on New Year day but I decided against going since I don’t trust the work and didn’t want to waste anymore of my time. Asked to receive a portion (to her discretion) of the payment back but she refused. Smh, just unfortunate some black businesses are more about the monetary gain versus customer satisfaction. I mean the salon is alright for basic protective styles but be weary to more complicated ones. This is an honest review and not one made/paid by a friend.

Very professional service. My stylist always asked my input to make sure that she was doing exactly what I wanted. My makeup came out so nice, and lasted all night without changing. I also got my hair done there. She was willing to take her time to consult with me first to make sure we were doing exactly the style I wanted before she started. She’s very polite and professional.
