Hands down best hair salon! I’ve been doing my hair with Kennedi since 2022. She truly has seen my hair from box dye to the healthiest it’s ever been. Hair health is a big thing for us when transitioning to light/dark. Haircuts always french kiss she totally gets me. If you’re on hunt for a new stylist Kennedi is your girl. Also shoutout to Ahmaud as he’s such a sweet person even though never done my hair i’ve seen him plenty of times slay hair and carry amazing convos. Check them out won’t regret it! ☺️

I have gotten a haircut and balayage twice with Ahmaud and both times were amazing and I’ve gotten loads of compliments. He spends time listening to what his clients want and is super talented and on top of that, a really nice person. I can’t recommend him highly enough!

Ahmaud is extremely warm and welcoming and he truly cares about his clients and their hair. In the short time they've been open, I hate to brag, but I've probably been there every week at no fault to Ahmaud but because of my stubborn hair and I'm totally okay with that. He's consistently provided professional advice and service to my hair to get it to where I really want it to be. He's very genuine and wants you to have the best outcome for your hair without the damage! I have yet to regret choosing his salon. See you again soon! ☺️☺️

A.K. Studio NYC, with its unpretentious but thoughtful design, is the place to go and have a little conversation or just a glass of Prosecco. Located on the border of the Flatiron District and Chelsea, it doesn’t belong to any specific neighborhood. So it belongs to only New York City, escaping the provincialism of becoming an exclusively local establishment but at the same time preserving its intimacy that makes it the perfect first stop in the city right after I get off the PATH train on my way back from work in New Jersey. So far I haven’t mentioned the service there. Not because it’s secondary. In my last year of elementary school, I got a really nice haircut. That was thirty years ago, so I have been served by a few stylists and countless barbers since then but was unable to replicate the satisfaction I felt at that one occasion in my late childhood. Given the receding hairline and other age-related nuisances, I may have concluded that the pursuit was futile and I just have to add the possibility of a good haircut to the list of wonders that vanished with adolescence. But then I met Ahmaud, who restored my faith by simply restoring my hair. Consultations with barbers in the past were unsuccessful because I was probably maddeningly vague. I gave instructions as to what to hide, what to accentuate, what shape I like. But in the end, I was typically asked to translate my preferences into inches. Which was my turn to get frustrated because I was unable to express my vision in terms of clipper settings. Perhaps I could’ve learned the translation eventually. But would I still have hair by then? It was much better to meet Ahmaud, who just listened, filled in the gaps where I didn’t really know what I wanted, and did the translation into scissors movements himself. Ahmaud and his partner, Kennedi, get along really well. You can see that they are not coworkers who need to keep their tensions at bay while the guests are around and can’t wait to leave once they are done. They genuinely like each other. I wouldn’t be surprised to learn that they tend to hang out a little more in the salon after work and have their share of the Prosecco. I was told that their business had been a collaborative effort from the very beginning, down to the details of the interior design and the services they offer. In light of what I have experienced so far, I can see potential only for success.

Ahmaud is an artist!! My friend recommended this place to me a couple of weeks ago because my hair needed a little lift. I asked Ahmaud to do his magic. He gave me a fantastic balayage that I absolutely love. I have been asked so many times from where I got my hair done and I also recommended him to few of my friends, they had a great experience too.

Ahmaud is the best!! The space is very clean, Ahmaud is very welcoming, and my hair was done beautifully. I went from a brassy blonde to a rich auburn color. Ahmaud really cares about making the client comfortable and making you look your best. Could not recommend more!!

All the stars! The salon space is bright and clean, and Ahmaud is sweet, friendly, and so skilled. He really took his time with me, listened to what I was looking for, and gave me a low-maintenance cut suitable for how I wear my hair every day. I got a wash, a cut, and a full blowdry style — and then he touched up the cut a little more again at the end after the blowdry helped him feel out where the weight of the hair was landing. I loved it, and recommend to everyone!

Both Ahmaud and Kennedi are fab hair stylists! In all the times that I’ve visited, I haven’t seen any client unhappy with their hair - they always love the final look! Ahmaud is very particular about listening to my needs with regards to my hair and always does an excellent job. He also comes up with fun hair color ideas to suit my needs. Highly recommend him 🌟🌟

Going to Kennedi is truly like hanging out with a friend while getting a blowout or haircut. The salon itself is super cute and cozy and you feel very cared for the entire time. She's super easy to get along with, and has a great selection of hair products, and you never feel rushed, and that she is taking her time and making sure everything is exactly as you want it. Definitely recommend for anyone in the chelsea/flatiron area who wants a quality result at a much better price point!

I am so excited to finally find my go to salon. The prices are so reasonable and the quality is the best I’ve had. The salon is comfortable and relaxing and I know I will be treated with love, care and attention. The first time I felt like the stylist actually cared about my hair! I am so lucky & thankful to have found Kennedi here! I went in for a haircut (they have great hours and are even open on Mondays, and I didn’t have to wait at all) and it looks absolutely amazing. She took time to get to know me and what I wanted, and didn’t rush through the process or cut at all. Talking to her was really easy and casual (I’ve had awkward experiences at other salons in the city). She isn’t pretentious or pushy at all, but the salon is in a great location, easy to find, and super clean. I felt totally comfortable and in good hands—she made suggestions about how to reach my goals with my hair (more volume / dimension without losing too much length) and it looks great. Even better, she’s so reasonably priced that I almost don’t want to share

I love A.K. Studio! Ahmaud is my hair guru! He takes the time to listen to your concerns and really takes the initiative to deliver what you desire. I have dark hair and a lot of stylists are intimidated by it but not Ahmaud! I told him I wanted Jennifer Lopez and he and I have been working slowly to that. Rome wasn’t built in a day! I love my hair and I love how I feel and look after I leave the studio.

WOW. Ahmaud was kind and personable the second I walked in. We did a thorough walkthrough at the beginning of our appointment and it really help set us up for success. Ahmaud answered my million and one questions and thoughtfully made recommendations to elevate my cut. We even talked through recommendations for hair brushes and product to keep my hair looking and feeling healthy. Ahmaud was incredibly focused during the cut and I ended up looking AND feeling great by the end of our appointment.

What a brilliant team at AK Studios! Kennedi did a great dye job that took 10 years off my face. Ahmaud did what has been the best curly haircut I have had to date and I am 46 years young. My curls are voluminous and fall better than they have after hundreds of cuts, even the deva curl cut. I will definitely be back and recommend to my friends. The ambiance is also a plus, intimate and relaxing.
