Lana is absolutely amazing! She completely revived my hair when I needed it most. I usually have very long and straight hair, and she worked her magic to add so much volume—it looks and feels incredible. She’s so talented at what she does, and her energy is just so positive and uplifting. I highly recommend Lana—she’s the best!

My first time seeing Lana and she was fantastic! She is a talented stylist and kind as well… I have very long, thick hair and she was quite gentle and efficient too. I wasn’t clear with what I wanted, but she knew exactly what to do for my hair and face! Also, I had made a scheduling mistake and she kindly fit me in same-day. I could tell she is adored by the community (I walked into the wrong building at first and the staff there warmly introduced me to her) and many people walking by or with their dog would stop to say or wave hello. Such a nice experience!

First of all: Overbooked. I asked for specific allergen free dies before service. I mentioned about being sensitive. I shared my concerns. I shared that my hair look like of horse tail: strong and as if it can take a lot but its not strong at all it reality. All was good. I had no reaction at first but …Dye development time on manufacturer’s site said 35 min. I spend 1:45 min with dye on my head. Itchy, flaky scalp aka contact dermatitis on the next day. Red areas of very irritated skin. You would expect colorist know better how to work and surely never go over developing time, especially for sensitive clients. I nicely mentioned to her about over doing die time. She deny this fact. “Oh no, my dear. You did!” No one ever sits with die on hair for over 45 min only because you took in a haircut. Expect to blow dry your own hair or walk with soaking wet head back home in 36F. She has no time for blow dry. After 1:45 with hair die on my poor scalp, it got finally rinsed off , two girls in evening dresses walked in for a blow dry so I had to blow dry my own hair. “You can blow dry as long as you want”- yeah. Thanks. This is why there be no tip. Actually for two reasons. Dispute poor and dissatisfied service Tips are welcomed and reminded about. No time to think and pick color so I walked out way darker than would look natural on me and I do look as if I box die myself at home by my 15 y.o niece. “You changed so much!” She said. Well, yes. Everyone who goes 5-6 shades darker would. Maybe if color book been given or she explained some variations I understand better. Because I was referring to a microscopic image of a color chart taken from web on my iphone. All I got was she asking me if I want semi-permanent or permanent. Semi would bring more shine… Hhhmmm I don’t find it helping when picking a colder and darker hue. I will have to get used to new me as with my hair length it’s not ideal to color hair often. Some might say: go lighter. nor can I go lighter as such products damage my hair further. About 3 years ago someone suggested lighter shade on ends as ombre. Results: half of volume is gone due to breakage. So now… bad part about “new me” that I really don’t like new me… every morning will be upsetting for a loooong period of time… about 5-6 months till color washes off or I get used to this shade whichever comes first… Normally I walk out the salon with nice mood, natural looking dark hair and a blow dry. Normally, but not here. This was my first full head , single color in 3 years since that ombré disaster and what I got? - blamed for hair being too long, not being able to understand hair shades, not being thankful for being taken in… Ps. In 80% of salons of NYC , Queens and especially Brooklyn my hair would be 200-250$. It be 140$ with roockie results like mine. I am not playing on nikel and dime game here. I simply attached proper price for better understanding of service and not arguing about pricing overall. My post is not about $ Ps. I just sent missing $30 for eyebrows which she returned but sent I did. Pss. Due to my hair being porous in structure I once compared and my dry time is less than some shoulders length hair. “The fear is in the eyes “- only Greatest Georgii Kot - world known hair guru, not his students I was lucky to work with as hair model ever complained about my hair being too long, difficult or etc. but just got to love what you do…

I've been coming here for years and Lana has never let me down. She's fun, creative and has so much experience. The color she mixes for me, and the guidance on the best ways to cut my hair, lead to so many compliments. I've had people take pictures of my hair in order to get the exact color or cut from their own stylist. I can't recommend the American Beauty Salons enough. Lana would never steer you wrong.

I've recently moved to the city and was nervous about finding a new hair salon but knew I had found the place once I visited Lana. She is a fabulous colourist, I am so pleased with the results and she's refreshed my style with a great new cut. She also gave my very straight hair a wonderful curl for a friend's wedding, which last for days. I can't recommend Lana enough.

Lana is wonderful! I’ve been coming here for years and every time she does an amazing job with my coloring and haircut. She’s a great professional, carefully listens and gives her honest opinion. We get our hair done here all the time. Lana is amazing! She gives a great cut, color or styling. Whatever you want she can do. I'd highly recommend going to get your hair done at this salon.
