My son and I absolutely adore this hair salon. Every visit feels like coming home to family, and we always leave feeling at ease. Since my son has long hair, regular trims are essential to keep it healthy, and we've been seeing Kayta for years. Sometimes I don’t have the time to detangle my son’s hair before coming in for a haircut, but Kayta and her team handle it with such care and without any judgment, giving him a fantastic haircut every time. I've also had my hair done in various lengths—both short and long—and Kayta has always taken great care of me. I love the salon’s location, too, as it allows me to take care of other errands in the mall while getting my hair done. We also have a special fondness for the owner Anne, whom we've known for many years. She’s so stylish yet incredibly down-to-earth, and it’s clear that everyone who works there truly enjoys what they do. We highly recommend❤️

I haven't had my hair professionally cut for over two years because of a disastrous experience at Moxie. I'm going to a memorial in a week and wanted a fresher look for my long hair. I am also dealing with new growth from recent hair loss, so I needed advice. Katya, my stylist, listened to me, offered up suggestions, and did EXACTLY what I wanted. This is the first haircut I have been happy about in years and years. Anne Marie & Company has gained a new customer for life!

I went to Anne Marie & Co for a cut and color and am SO happy with the final result! At first I didn't love the blending of the highlights but called them and Anne Marie fixed everything to exactly how I wanted it free of charge and I ended up with a gorgeous balayage. The team is so sweet, helpful, and made sure I was satisfied with the outcome. I would recommend them to anyone!

I would drive 300 miles and I would drive 300 more… just to have Nikki color my hair! When your long time hairdresser relocates from NJ to a charming southern downtown salon and you have missed her creative cuts and coloring tremendously, you plan a “me” trip: book the Hotel, make a dinner reservation and hop in the car. As soon as I walked in the door from my six hour drive, I was so warmly welcomed by the entire staff. The atmosphere was so relaxed and the owner Anne treated me like a celebrity! Having a 30 + year history with Nicki all I had to do after sitting in her chair was say “Just Fix It!” My fresh cut and fall color was so worth the ride! Need an updo? Nicki has it covered. A fancy blow out? She’s your girl. I am sad she’s moved so far away but Charlottesville, you are in excellent hands. Be open minded to her suggestions as well. Nicki has yet to steer me wrong when looking for a change. Best of luck Nicki and thank you Anne for making me feel so comfortable and welcomed. I wish you both all the best!

Just got a haircut by Katya, she did a wonderful job! She listened to what I wanted and gave me exactly what i was looking for. The salon is also conveniently located near the market street garage (free parking if you're there under an hour).

Absolutely fabulous place! I can not recommend enough! I came in with a terrible, uneven haircut and equally horrible highlights. Katya was amazing! She made me look absolutely gorgeous, gorgeous highlights and gorgeous haircut! Everyone made you feel like they’ve known you forever and just wonderful ladies all around! I saw Anne Marie for a color correction and high lift from orangey/brassy blonde with lots of previous hair dye and dark roots to a beautiful, light buttery blonde with lots of dimension. She is very talented and knows exactly what she is doing for coloring and toning blondes, which has been hard for me to find. She gave me exactly what I wanted, took her time, and provided education about the process, and was serious about keeping the integrity of my hair. She is very professional yet warm and kind, and her whole staff was super nice, helpful, and friendly. I am happy I found my new, regular hair stylist!

Left with an extreme case of buyer’s remorse that resulted in a need for a color correction appointment and a major cut at another salon. I went into this salon asking for baby lights that would frame my face. I emphasized that I would like to stay a cool brunette and did not want a money piece. It was like the stylist didn’t hear a single thing I said. My hair was lightened to a cool blonde in ONE session from the dark brown I started with. This was after I went on and on about I had no desire to be blonde because of how much damage it has done to my hair in the past.I would have curbed my losses, except I stepped one foot into my car and saw that this was the most unblended, unneutralized hair I have gotten in my life, at the steep price of $155 for EIGHT foils. It wasn’t anything I asked for and after one shower, the effects of lightening so much so fast quickly took hold. I even imagine it was an accident that she lightened my hair so much considering that I (with black hair) was in foils for 45 minutes—while she toned and styled another client and then washed, cut, and styled the hair of another client. I’ve never seen this kind of in professionalism from a seemingly high profile salon. It would’ve been another thing if the stylist actually delivered results. But I was left with brittle hair that was nowhere NEAR what I asked for, to the point where my previously split end free hair was breaking off in inches. I had to go to another salon to get all of the hair that was lightened beyond a 7 cut off and color corrected losing 2 inches of previously healthy hair that took a whole year to get to the point it was at. Would not recommend going here unless you want hair that is arrays of white, yellow, and orange.

So, I have been looking for a new salon for quite some time, and decided to try this place. My experience was AMAZING! First, they were able to fit me in same day, and the receptionist was so very kind and after telling her what I wanted, made me an appointment time that gave me more of a chance to discuss styling options. Second, Nicky (I hope I’m spelling that right!) is wonderfully talented, and cut my hair EXACTLY like I wanted, and was very personable and knowledgeable! The atmosphere was very relaxing, as well as dog friendly, which I absolutely love! 10/10 would recommend to anyone! Thank you, Nicky! I love my hair!

After I moved to Charlottesville in early 2020, I tried two highly rated salons and after three tries at each, neither stylist/salon was able to deliver consistently on hair color or cut! But Ann Marie delivered on the first visit! She was so professional— she listened and understood exactly what I wanted and how to cut my hair (it’s thick and has gentle waves). This was the best color, highlighting, and cut I have had in years! Ann Marie is so skilled! Also, she doesn’t try to sell her products! On top of that, the small salon was pleasant and relaxing (no loud music), friendly, clean, and convenient! Although parking is at the downtown Market St. Garage, the salon is extremely close by and she validates your parking stub! I am a discriminating consumer, and can only express much gratitude for finally finding a place like Ann Marie and Company!! No downside!!

Can’t say enough good things about Ann Marie and this salon! She is so meticulous and receptive to what I share in terms of my hopes for my hair, and it has come out amazing each time I visit. She also appears to be a wonderful person and very professional. The salon is beautiful and the staff very kind. It is always a pleasure, and I am so glad I found this Charlottesville gem!

Had my first haircut in five months and Ann Marie did an amazing job!. One of the best short haircuts I've had. Salon is very convenient to Market street parking garage and everyone was friendly and professional. Follows CDC protocol by wearing masks.

This was my first visit to this salon. I made an appointment the day before and was able to get right in. I loved the hair washing! The chairs where massage chairs and reclined as she washed me. The staff was all very friendly and knowledgeable. I told my beautician that I only needed a trim due to growing out my hair. She was great and only took off the bare minimum. The salon was hard to find due to the little sign that is easy to miss. I will definitely be returning here.
