I can’t say enough good things about this salon and my favorite stylist, Ashley Hart! I’ve been seeing Ashley the past year or so, and my hair has never looked better. Her haircuts, highlights, toning, literally everything! She does the best job. She’s also so sweet and easy to talk to, I truly enjoy having my hair done by her. I hate to write these kind of reviews but I wanted to take a moment to share my concerns regarding my recent visit to this salon. Unfortunately, I was very disappointed with the outcome of my hair and, even more so, with how the situation was handled afterward. I’ve visited this salon several times in the past and had amazing experiences, particularly with Blane. She is incredibly talented and has such a warm and kind presence. This time, due to budget constraints, I decided to try another stylist and take advantage of a discount they offered. I wish I didn’t because I ended up spending more to fix my hair and keep it healthy at the same time… I showed Ashley a picture of the result I wanted, and she seemed confident, reassuring me throughout the process that my results would be excellent. She even mentioned that she could “fix it” if the results weren’t as expected in few days? Unfortunately, that confidence did not match the final outcome. When I raised my concerns about the results, because I ended having three different colors in my hair, instead of taking responsibility or offering a solution, Ashley blamed me for not disclosing that I had previously used boxed dye. This was surprising since I had clearly mentioned it beforehand, and she assured me at the time that it wouldn’t be an issue. What frustrated me most was that when I followed up with additional questions to better understand what went wrong, my messages were ignored entirely. I found this approach unprofessional and dismissive, which damaged the trust I previously had in your salon. As a business owner, professionalism and open communication are essential to addressing client concerns. Ignoring questions and deflecting responsibility only leads to frustration and erodes client relationships. I hope you take this feedback constructively and use it as an opportunity to grow, both personally and professionally. Please don’t offer me free services or advice to find another hair stylist. Am only asking to do better and be nice to people because you never know what people are going through.

okay I found my new place! First you walk in and then space is gorgeous and 2 welcoming adorable dogs which immediately is a plus for me as huge dog lover. The owner welcomed me and then I met Ashley H. Who cut my hair! She was so easy to talk to and she cut my hair perfectly! I wanted 90s layers and curtain bangs and if you see her Instagram she thrives at this and she is definitely my new hair gal now! So excited I found this place and Ashley. Prices are reasonable as well.

Lael was absolutely AMAZING! We talked in length about what i was looking for and she made me so comfortable! I was anxious going in as i havent had my hair done professionally in a lonnng time. Lael worked absolute Magic and helped me find my inner baddie. I look forward to coming back❤️

I had SUCH a great experience getting a haircut from Blane. Seriously amazing value for the price. Blane is very gentle and kind, and takes time to make the cut perfect. She created the exact pixie cut I was after, without Kayla's help [photo]. Kayla welcomed me when I came in; she's super friendly as well, and the whole atmosphere is welcoming and calming. I'll be back! Note: The salon entrance is the door closest to the salon parking lot on Troost. (I was a little confused since I didn't drive there).

I have taken my toddler in twice for cuts with Kayla. She was patient, kind, and did a wonderful job cutting my kiddo's hair. My toddler was shy and a little nervous, but she made him feel at ease. Seeing his confidence after each haircut made the experiences that much sweeter--we will be back again soon!

I went today for an apprentice cut which was an excellent way for a student like me to get a quality hair cut for a good price. The cut was well supervised by Kayla and an active learning experience for Blane. Blane was very nice and we had a great conversation the entire time. At the end Kayla thoroughly looked over the cut and did a few touch ups (tho not many were needed :) ) I will definitely be back!

Salon is beautiful but the stylist we had was very inexperienced and was unable to perform a basic fade. Will need another haircut to fix this one. Edit to Add: The owners response is not truthful. I was charged studio pricing of $35 for each of my children. While I only took pictures of one of my children, all of their hair looked the same and I had to get all of their haircuts fixed.

SYDNEY is the reason I come to this salon! I drive 30 minutes from OP to see her. The first time I saw her years ago she was the ‘new girl’ in my usual OP salon. My regular stylist of over a decade had partially retired and couldn’t work me in to fix a color issue during the hours I could come in. Sydney did a great job, dare I say ABOVE AND BEYOND what all the regular stylists were doing for their long time clients. She steamed my face with hot towels and gave me a great hand massage while waiting for my color to process. I felt a little guilty not seeing my usual stylist but when her schedule was more in line with mine I made my appointment with her. I wear my hair short, so every 4 week appointments are necessary. Fortunately she moved to another salon. Even though she move to Brookside which is 30 minutes away I never considered not following her. That salon wasn’t the greatest place for her, so I was happy for her when she made the move to Aorist. She’s the best and keeps up on the latest trends. I could be her mother lol but I look forward to our monthly visit! She just keeps getting better at her craft because it’s truly her passion! I’ve never been disappointed and I am very particular about my hair!

Tiana is amazing; she always takes the time to make sure your cut is just right and her coloring skills are the best I've ever seen. The salon is in a super cool location tucked into the old KCP&L building on Troost just north of 63rd street. You can even make and manage your appointments online. Definitely check it out!

Aorist salon provides a full range of services in Brookside, MO. The interior is bright, open and airy. It is a welcoming space and always immaculate. All of the stylists at the salon provide exceptional services and are very professional. They carry a wide range of hair products, as well as a bunch of cool things, like bundles of sage and greeting cards. I always leave feeling better than when I walked in.

I had a horrible experience here. I went in for an ombré touch up and Kayla somehow dyed my blonde hair brown. Luckily the stylists at chop tops fixed it for me. It ended up costing me another $250 to fix which she did not reimburse me for. It was traumatic. To strip the brown out hurt the integrity of my hair. If there was a place to add pics I would. No one could believe how badly it was botched. The only reason I couldnt get my money back was because I paid with square cash which can’t protect your money. :( To your response... You literally torched my hair. Your stylist did a great job and you ruined it. You were suppose to bring my roots lower and you turned my blonde hair brown. You DID NOT offer me a free service to fix it. I have that in text. You said you would charge me another $50 to fix what you messed up. Why would I do that? It has everything to do with square cash. My bank said they couldn’t refund my money even though I had proof. Because I paid with square cash, it’s a separate entity. Of course I would tell people about my experience. It was horrible. Who wouldn’t?

I have been going to Kayla for years, for cuts and color. She’s always upbeat, professional, and excellent at her craft! I have referred several friends to her, and they all love her and her detailed work. I recently moved to another state and am so sad I had to leave her. I have been searching endlessly and still cannot find anyone that matches her ability and talent. She is a KC gem!

I look forward to each appointment I have at Aorist Salon. The bright, airy aesthetic of the environment is uplifting, & I’m always greeted warmly. There is great consideration and consult about what exactly I would like for my hair. Kayla is an artist who cares for her clients with such thoughtfulness & professionalism; I leave her space feeling confident and pleased. During my most recent appointment, I was especially aware of all the pandemic precautions and disinfecting processes that took place to ensure a completely safe experience for each client and their stylist. Aorist is a top-notch team!
