The facilities are decent, the saunas are nice and hot. The only thing that really sours the experience for me and takes away stars is the incredibly rude (for no reason) front desk staff. Upon entering they did not greet me or look me in the eye, just kept talking among themselves. And two other times I interacted with them during my visit, totally non-attentive and disengaged. It costs nothing to be at least courteous to patrons who are paying you hundreds of dollars.

Very disappointed by this place. I read a lot of super-enthusiastic reviews and thought to buy a gift card for my wife. The place does not look anything great, the people at the reception did not even know the services they offered. I had to guide them through their menu of services. There were boxes all over the place, there was a guy arguing with a staff member for some problems he had. No intention to go back there!

Definitely an eastern European vibe. The male staff are not big fans of the coloreds. 😂. As soon as I walked in and took a shower, I heard "Staff-Guy-A" whisper to "Staff-Guy-B" to "watch him". Then for an hour, I sat in the hot tub and ignored the blue eyes piercing the side of my head. I think they wanted to make a point clear that this place is reserved solely for blue collar white guys that are trying to date chicks out of their tax bracket. (My ex brought me so I took it like a champ instead of leaving immediately. In case anyone is wonderingwhy I would stay for an hour 😂.)

This place is my sanctuary. No sauna and Spa in California compare. It's the most refreshing experience. The cafe and availability of food and beverages is tasty and always enjoyable. The saunas are always hot and the cold plunge is a well-needed respite. Be prepared for a lot of nudity and good company.

Hours are misleading. Says open to 11/midnight. On the phone they say kitchen closes 930, website lists events to 10pm — but then check in closes at 9. No one communicates with you on what the true closing time is they just deny you when you show up. Frustrating.

Every time I try to go here it's closed 😞 last time, it was a women's only night, so I was turned away (rudely). The woman at the front desk made me feel bad for not knowing it was women only that night, and implied I was trying to creep or something? It left a sour taste in my mouth. Recently I was told they have specials on your birthday, so I went on mine only to discover they're not open on Tuesdays. I hear so many good things about this place, but I've never had a good experience myself.

It’s not the Four Seasons. The locker rooms are a bit snug and towels seemed to be hard to come by…but the experience was amazing. I felt good community-like vibes, like people cared about each other. I booked the Platza Bodywork Hammam Package; it was a great experience. I forgot the woman’s name who did my treatment but she was a kind soul. Thank you very much!

They charged me 32% tip on restaurant food without asking. I mean at least tell me… or if you’re going to add an automatic tip at least make it 15-20% - more than 30% is just robbery lol. Right ??Baths are fine but place is definitely dirty.

Went here yesterday for the first time. I've been to many bathhouses but this was the first time I've been to a coed bathhouse. Had the best deep massage from Davon. Enjoyed the Russian style saunas, and heated pools. And went around their cafe, TV lounge and patio. Overall, a great experience.

I spent a lot of time in the Bay looking for the hottest sauna and the coldest cold plunge I could find, and honestly there’s no better place than Banya. I primarily go to Banya on the weekdays when they open to the afternoon and it has been one of the most relaxing, restorative, and also chill/fun social environments that I get to be in! The staff is amazing (special shoutouts to Bemoni and Kasey who both enforce a very respectful social environment and are great at their jobs!). They have great services - not just the platzas but the massages are actually focused on releasing muscle tension and not just “throwaway” massages - and a really solid programming schedule with workshops.

I came here with my wife a couple months ago. She got a body scrub which she enjoyed, and I got a massage that was enjoyed as well.. after we went to sauna, cold plunge, hot tubs and roof. Everything was nice... except the staff.. they are oddly rude for no apparent reason. We didn't have an argument or anything they just really made us not feel welcomed at check in, and when we left, we Had to get our ID's at the front and they were rude again. Not sure why. They make the whole vibe feel off.... that being said the facilities were nice.. I'll go somewhere else where they are more friendly in the future.

This was the most wonderful thermal spa experience for my wife and me. We enjoyed every second of our 3 hours here - it's just enough time to actually feel completely relaxed and unrushed. Only wish I'd that the plunge was a little larger. An amazing space!

My husband and I went here while in SF for our anniversary. Had gone out the night before and this was the most perfect way to rest and relax. Three hours was not long enough. Can't wait to go back!

I will give it a five star review just because it was a unique experience. I do think the front desk staff could be a tad bit friendlier but I do understand they are dealing with copious amounts of people and I’m sure that is a lot. Nonetheless, my partner and friends made it a point to visit and it was very interesting. There truly is nothing like it. Naturally, it is a shared public setting so not everything is perfect but I think they still do a great job keeping a space like this available to those that are interested. I will be back and will bring more friends! Everyone frequenting the establishment was very respectful and in no way did it feel uncomfortable!

The facility is excellent. Clean, well taken care of. The food is good. The roof is nice to chill. The spa services are good (as long as you get someone experienced). Last month I had a hammon by an inexperienced spa worker. It was terrible. No flow, skipped spaces. He also didn't speak English. I had to cancel a few minutes in. Luckily there was a more experienced person available who gave an excellent scrub. But I don't see him listed on providers. How do I make an appointment with him again? Yesterday, I'm just trying to relax and two of the staff in the sauna scolded me and laughed at me. Yes, I did something I should have noticed was against the rules. But people are constantly not observing these (we're talking where you're allowed to have robes, shoes, etc). The two staff mentioned are always walking around and taking a sauna as if they're customers, but they're not. One worker even said to the other "we never have good luck in here" Honey, with all due respect, I don't think your job is to take up half the sauna (two workers) while paying customers are trying to acclamate to the space and vibe. Maybe you are supposed to remind us the rules and keep people in line, but you're rude and taking up space. The cleaning crew are different people. They're just not doing anything but giving off airs of being important. What is the actual job of these two? I'd love to see a public response to this. Also the front desk staff are nearly useless and lack a welcoming vibe. I'm not going to ask them because everything they do seems to take at least two people who look clueless while figuring out how to help. I've been here at least a dozen times over the years and it's getting ridiculous. Pools looked great after annual maintenance close, good job on that.

This place really needs a super deep cleaning! I was so sad to see how run down and dirty the Banya has become. I’ve been a patron since the very beginning and used to work there for many years. I had not been back since before the Pandemic and noticed that the ceiling had mold growing all over it in the main area where the cold plunge is. There is a beautiful mural on the ceiling that I love to gaze at while I’m sitting in the Japanese Hot Pool and noticed so much mold growing. The ledges around the hot pool also need a serious scrub down! I’m highly allergic to mold and unfortunately won’t be able to keep coming here unless this is addressed. Please please please help this wonderful place sparkle again! the Banya is so healing and it’s such a shame to see it this way.

Best Banya in CA and possibly in the whole USA. I have been coming here for years and also enjoying their banya tour around the world. This place has it all - great saunas, amazing cold plunge, friendly staff, and a nice social vibe.

Russian Sunna, steam, cold plunge, affordable, no lines, attached has authentic Russian restaurant with the most yummy lamb soup. Beautiful Roof top overseeing bay. Cloth optional. Has man only and woman only days.

When I need to relax and unwind, this is my go-to place. I love having all the different options for heat: multiple saunas and hot pools. And being able to cold plunge in between. Their spa services are great too, and offer options I don't see many other places. Jayda is my favorite for the aqua skin bomb: it's a combination massage and scrub. She does a great job at both parts! For a super deep scrub I like Genie - she doesn't do massages but she'll scrub hard enough that I feel like every bit of dead skin is gone.

I booked a reservation for my wife and called them to ensure that upon checkout she wouldn't have to pay anything by dealing with me. They did none of that. Also, it is not clear on their website that upon booking a specific massage you also have to pay a pass, that was $60+. Other than this the massages were appreciated and the baths apparently clean.

Incredibly negative experience. This place is extremely dirty. The hot tubs were especially disgusting with hair and other unidentifiable objects floating everywhere. I didn’t see anyone cleaning during the 2 hours I was there. The front desk staff was also extremely rude (both upon check-in and check-out, with different people) and refused to hear us out on our negative experience. I am shocked this place is still in business. Would NOT recommend. There are many much cleaner, nicer tubs/bathhouses in the Bay Area. You could not pay me to come back here.
