I booked an appointment and got canceled last minute by the salon because they want to magically serve another client at the same time. Would not recommend this place to people looking for a simple haircut since they will prioritize other more valuable customers over you.

I got a long bob cut from Kyoko and it looked so cute and neat! The price was very reasonable compared to some other salons for a women’s cut and service was both efficient and thorough.

I don't usually post reviews but I have to for Mako at Arty Hair! I've been going to Mako for my regular haircuts for several years now. I never had a regular hair stylist until her. Mako always gives me a consistent hair style for my thick, wavy hair just how I like it. Luckily I was seeing her for a haircut a few weeks before my wedding at City Hall and realized I had no idea of what to do with my hair. I asked Mako if she could style my hair and all I can say is, wow. She came up with a hair style that felt true to me and it stayed in place all day. She's already a little hard to book (I'm a last-minute kind of girl) so writing this review poses the risk that she will be even harder to book but I just had to write this glowing review. I'm sure the other stylists at Arty are wonderful too!

Had my first digital perm here years ago and recently went back for a cut and peekaboo highlights. The staff is super nice and are very accommodating providing water, free wifi, and phone charging throughout the session. My stylist was Yumiko and she was the sweetest! She made sure use just enough bleach to get me to my ideal colour while not introducing damage to the ends. The colour and cut came out exactly how I wanted and she also gave me some great tips on care and styling. Pricing is also super reasonable for the service and results. I've gone to other salons specializing in Asian hair who couldn't get my hair light enough, took longer, and charged way more. It's been a week since my cut and the colour looks good and my ends are healthy.

Highly recommend this place and Mimi. The booking was easy, and we started on time. Did a Japanese straightening and the price was reasonable. During the process I thought it was too sleek, but I trusted Mimi and I absolutely love the result. I feel bad because I was on the phone a lot and didn’t even say bye properly. Mimi if you see this just know I love your work, thank you and see you next time!!!

I never write reviews, and i’m sorry to do it now, but this time was so disappointing. I already had a haircut in this salon before, and it was okay. This time it was the worst salon experience ever. The stylist was friendly and nice, but seemed like she was in a rush and not skilled to do professional cuts, carelessly cutting off chunks of hair. Also, during washing and drying, she harshly rubbed by scalp and swayed my hair, which was not pleasant at all and even painful sometimes. When she was drying my hair, she almost didn't use the brush, only in the last minute, so I ended up getting a whatever uneven cut, no touch-ups, nothing. Strands aren’t laying properly and sticking out in all directions. I could as well do the same at home myself with paper scissors. Very disappointed, to tears, and want to go elsewhere now to fix my butchered hair.

I asked for 4 inches off my hair and some long layers in the back and what I got was ~7 inches off my hair (I came home and measured with a measuring tape from before/after photos I had). What bothers me is that my hair dresser chopped off all the length (with very rough and inaccurate measurement of what 4 inches really looks like to her) the moment I sat down. I showed her some photos of the kind of layers I wanted and she copied the photo itself with the length of the hair being significantly shorter rather than following the direction I wanted - which was only getting 4 inches off my currently longer lower back length hair and then giving some layers. She cut 7 inches off my dry/dirty hair right off the bat and went to shampoo and wash it. I saw the length of hair on the ground and I immediately questioned if that was even 4 inches off? I can visibly tell that my hair was significantly shorter (than what I asked for) than before. I don't mind medium long length hair. It upsets me the most that the length was already gone from the beginning and what's done is done. She told me that herself. I get that hair grows back but this is definitely an unresolvable situation at this current moment since she could've cut less from the start and cut more as she went. My hair stylist was actually pleasant and also detail oriented when it came to doing layers/textures. But I know for next time if I was to get a hair cut again, it would be much better to ASK for less in the beginning and to cut more if needed while still in the chair... since I am still very unhappy about the inaccurate length that was cut from the start by my hair dresser since now I'm left with much shorter hair than what I would like (at least 2-3 inches above my chest area which is the length I wanted if instructions were followed).

Poor service. Called an appointment for cut and color. When I arrived, they told me they don't have time for coloring. What a great service. I don't know what is the point of appointment. Will never come or bring my friends here anymore.

didn't want to write this because they refunded me but I have to share my experience if it will help others I went for a root touch up (bleach and tone) for a beige blonde look and walked out with bands of black, orange, and yellow. I spent the next day in another salon where they had to bleach my hair again and now half of my hair is gone and tons of it has snapped off. yes I'm glad they refunded me but my hair has gone through irreversible damage because of the bad experience at arty.
