I decided I needed a new salon for my color and cuts. My daughter recommended A.Salon and I was pleasantly surprised. The staff is extremely friendly and welcoming and both Troy and Gregory were great. I highly recommend giving this neighborhood salon a try!

The experience of visiting Amy and her entire crew deserves a 10+ rating! Between the ease of making appointments to the friendly, personable and real staff to the speed, creativity and collaboration of services I have been beyond happy with each and every encounter. For one reason or another I’ve had to bounce around to several salons since moving back from NYC and I’ve finally found my new hair home!

Gregory at the Lincoln Park salon gave me the best bob I've ever had! I definitely recommend Gregory to anyone looking for a stylist that really pays attention to detailed hair cuts. Very easy going and lighthearted to work with.

Gregory was an amazing conversationalist. I go to the Pilsen a.salon regularly but now I’m excited to start going to the Lincoln Park location as well. Gregory knew what I needed before I did. Made me feel like a princess while I was sitting on the salon chair. Would definitely recommend to my friends and family. He took his time styling my hair to perfection. I walked out happy and calling my mom to tell her what an amazing job he did and she agreed. Can’t wait for my next hair apportionment with him. 10/10.

I needed a “repair” of a haircut from a few months back (at a different salon) and was delighted to learn that a stylist from.the J Gordon team (my go-to salon for 40 years) had remained when a.salon took over at 2326 N Clark. I was greeted by familiar as well as friendly new faces and a handsomely redecorated space and Sharyl proceeded to restore my crowning glory to its former glory. Thank you, Sharyl and thank you a.salon for bringing the best of the “old” into the “new.”

I always find it so difficult to walk out of the salon feeling happy about my color these days. I love parts of it but then I’m always able to find spots that don’t really look as light as I wish them to be. For context, I am a non-natural blonde and it’s been really hard to get my color to lift. But, this time I walked out feeling excellent about my color. There wasn’t a single spot that I wished be brighter and I truly felt that salon glow again when I left. Troy took the best care of me and made sure that every piece of my hair was examined entirely and because of his immense attention to detail, I walked out with the color I had been envisioning. A month later, I am still feeling great about what he did and I usually show a solid root line by now, but I have never had my hair blended so well EVER. There is no root line and my hair looks as if the color were natural which is what all of us blondes dream of. He is the BEST! And has the best bed side manner. I’ve been getting my hair colored for over a decade and I will be spending decades more but this time under his watchful eye.

This is an edited version of a review I posted years ago, when this salon was J. Gordon Designs. I did NOT review a.salon, and I did NOT enjoy my visits there after they took over the salon. Karen is no longer there. Jerry died. The new owners are terrified that a customer will run out without paying (huh???), so they require that clients leave a credit card on file. They are very concerned about the environment, but one result is that the dyes they use don't work and don't last. The friendliness is gone, and so am I.

Troy was amazing! He's absolutely delightful to chat with and made my hair look incredible. Finding a new stylist in a new city is so scary, especially when you had a good routine going with your previous person. But he matched my color perfectly and made me feel so comfortable the entire appointment. I truly couldn't be happier with how it turned out and will definitely be back!

Amazing salon! The best (and fastest color) ever. They excel at developing individualized colors and cuts that match your look and maintenance level. The owner Amy has even succeeded in slowly and gracefully working with my ‘greying’ transition.

Troy has been styling / coloring my hair for almost 3 years and he is amazing!! He has transformed my hair from a fuzzy brown mess to a style that is sleek and glossy with both bright highlights and rich lowlights. About 6 months ago, just for fun, he started adding subtle purple highlights to my hair and I have received so many compliments from friends, coworkers, and complete strangers! Although Troy now lives and works in the Chicago area, he flies back to Dallas every 5 weeks to see his Dallas clients. I'm a Texas girl, but if my travels take me anywhere close to Chicago, I definitely make time to see him. Troy is insanely talented and knowledgeable about his craft and is also one of the most genuine, kind, and lovely people you will ever meet. 💜

Troy is a hair master! He’s done my hair (color and extensions) for over 15 years in Dallas. 8 years ago, I moved an hour away but still make the monthly drive to see Troy. Can’t imagine anyone else doing my hair. I am so looking forward to seeing him at his new salon in Lincoln Park!

Everyone from when you enter the salon to when your blowout is finished was welcoming. Got color with purple highlights and I LOVE the end result. Will definitely be visiting a.salon again!
