Worst haircut I’ve had in years - hair is completely botched. My barber was debating with me on my preferences and how a strand of hair looked out of place (because it was way longer than the rest). Truly bad experience. It was only $30 though, so I guess you get what you paid for but I am never coming back

He is bilingual (Spanish speaker) and easy understands the style I want as I change my look every other season. He knows how to give recommendations and ideas to look the best version of yourself. Let’s see, I’ve been going to Astor for the last 20 years. I’ve had 3 barbers. It’s as New York as the Yankees, dirty water dogs and the Empire State Building. It’s gotten more expensive since Covid, but still one of the best deals in town.

We had Suzy as the stylist, and she did a horrible job. She was told 3 inches and shown the color (deep, dark green) and instead of properly attending to us, she cut the hair DRY which is bad for curly hair since the length isn't true, cut WAY too short. I'm talking about a foot. She also colored it wrong (lightish emerald green). And while settling in the color, she cooked her hair and was frequently on her phone chatting. And at the end of it, she REFUSED to blow out her hair even though we requested it twice, especially since her hair was still damp and it was getting cold outside. She clearly doesn't know how to handle Black/Spanish hair and doesn't listen. Not worth the time nor headache.

Thank you Irma for the wonderful haircut and blowout! My hair was so dry and was needed of a cut. I feel so much lighter and my hair feels so soft. Everyone at Astor Place was so sweet and the atmosphere was super cool! Everything for a cut, wash, dry was $50 (cash only) super affordable!! Can't wait to come back for color!

The price is good but It is the only thing. I want to cut my ends and give my hair a good shape but Suzy cut me a lot. I even have hair to make a pony tail and my hair was under my chest. Incredible. She was in a rush, very fast, cutting and cutting without even listen to me. The chair was almost on the floor so I couldn't see what she was doing until the end. I showed her some pictures but she even look at them. She was very rude in her movements and my head was there. And the hygienic conditions of her material... Horrible. I will neve be back

After searching for a great hair stylist in NYC at a reasonable price for over a year, I finally found someone! Irma did an incredible job highlighting and cutting my hair! I would highly recommend her and will definitely be back! Irma is the best!

Do not go to Suzy. She gave me the worst haircut of my entire life. The haircut was rushed and done so very poorly. Go anywhere but this establishment if you are looking for a quality haircut.

I visited Suzy for a haircut and unfortunately, the outcome was quite different from what I had hoped for. Despite providing clear, printed pictures of the style I wanted and asking for a maximum of 2 inches to be cut off, my hair ended up being cut by about 6 inches. The front is much shorter than I requested, while the back remains too long. This resulted in a style that is significantly different from the reference images I showed. Additional points to consider: The chair height was quite low, which made it difficult for me to see the haircut in the mirror as it was happening. Suzy made several large cuts without refining or feathering, which left the cut looking uneven and lacking the precision I had hoped for. I also noticed that Suzy dropped her hairbrush and clips on the floor and continued to use them, which was a bit concerning from a hygiene perspective. If you decide to go to Suzy, I recommend being very cautious with your instructions. It might be wise to ask for an even smaller trim than you actually want, as this may help ensure you get closer to your desired length.

Recently went in for a walk in after seeing a lot of positive reviews and was assigned to have a haircut with a barber. I provided him with an in depth description of what I wanted my haircut to be like and even provided a 360 video of my past haircuts. Despite all of this, I in turn, received probably the laziest and worst haircut I have ever gotten. And to make things worst, at the end of my haircut, I noticed my bangs were slightly too long and asked the barber if he could go a little shorter...he quite literally just cut in a straight line along my hair making the haircut go from bad to even worse! Super unproffesional and do not recommend going at all for a walk in or if you have never been before. Thanks for the bowl cut!
