Growing up in New York I always went to the Dominican hair salon and had my hair shampooed 2-3 times, deep conditioned, set under dyer with rollers, blow dried, straightened, and ends cut for nothing over $70. [I’m aware of inflation and price increases] It’s been 2 years since I’ve visited New York, and I decided to try Aurora salon, however I didn’t expect to be charged $115 for a similar service. When I first called to book an appointment I was quoted $85, which is fair, but after I arrived and asked about the price for the second time, I was told $115. Additionally, they did not detangle my hair while it was wet and had conditioner in it (conditioner makes it easy to detangle and gives your hair slip which I thought was common knowledge). Instead, she detangled my hair while it was damp with no product besides heat protectant (painful). If you are someone who has anything curlier than 3A hair, I wouldn’t recommend coming here. Final thoughts…very sweet ladies, I’m happy I tried a new place, but I would not come back due to the price change, not getting the type of deep shampoo that I’m used to, and not having my 3b/3c hair detangled properly. As far as managing to get my hair straight, she did an amazing job with getting it straight, but the steps leading up to it could’ve been more smooth. I arrived at about 1:05 PM, my hair started to get washed at around 1:20 PM and I left at 4:20 PM. I appreciate the woman for trying, however I think this serves as a lesson to cater to ALL hair types because if I was someone who had type 4 hair, I most likely wouldn’t have been satisfied at all. [I originally typed this review the same day I got my hair done, but didn’t post because I thought it was harsh, but I must share my experience because it’s been over 2 weeks and my hair is DAMAGED]

Aurora es una estilista esencial q sabe lo q hace se le nota su experiencia también canta hermoso así q el servicio viene acompañado de serenata of course , I had never had something done to my hair so good this was my third time bleaching it but it was the first time it didn’t hit damaged and I believe that is because aurora knows what she is doing , loved everything thank you so much aurora 💞

I took my daughter in for balayage and was told by Aurora that my daughters touch ups would be 75. I'm glad I asked ahead of time, because they are trying to charge me another 175. No ma'am. When is just roots. I'm so upset they can't even remember what was told to me..

I’d give this place a hard pass. I don’t want to hurt anyone’s business, but there’s obviously at least one person cutting hair here who doesn’t know what she’s doing, so there needs to be a warning. I went in for a trim, just to clean it up, and the lady nodded like she understood “just a trim” and proceeded to hack away at my hair (I seriously doubt she is trained and licensed). I even showed a picture of what it should look like. It’s two months later and my cute shoulder length curls were mangled so badly that they are now a pixie cut waiting to grow back. It should only take a couple of years. Not worth the risk!

I love the experience at my aunts salon. She always comforts me when I just enter, is gentle with my hair, and is super clean. Also, my brother love the experience and always looks incredible. Thank you tia!!

Let me just start off with just saying wow!!! I'm very pleased with my hair.It feels great looks great just feels so healthy now and that's because I went platinum!! I highly recommend Aurora and staff was very nice and very welcoming as soon as I came in. I'm very iffy about ppl touching my hair but she is my go to and will not let anyone touch my hair except for her!

Very, very disappointed with the service I received this past Saturday. Went in to get a trim, “just a trim”. Explained I just wanted a trim to the length I had somewhat above the shoulders. Thought a trim would do it. Individual proceeds to show me a picture of a short hairstyle which I said “no”, offered a perm, again “no”. Well, guess what, walked out of there with the style I had been shown after I had requested a trim. Kept chopping away like I had not told her what I wanted. I couldn’t believe what she was doing, could not stop her because she had already cut quite a bit in the back. The cut is uneven especially in the back and the sides are so short. On top of an awful haircut (not what I asked for) the charge quoted per telecom was $25.00, paid $30.00 plus tip which came out to almost $35.00. Why can’t these so called “beauticians” give the customer what they ask for instead of doing it their way. For sure I will not return nor refer anyone. Now I have very short hair that I can’t do anything with but comb it like a guy. Gee, thanks.

So I’m short don’t get your hairstyled or get a makeup in this establishment they took from 10am which is the appointment time all the way to 12pm totaling two hours just for make up also one hour to style however after letting them know what time the wedding will start which is at 4:30pm this concerned me cause it’s me and my mother. They just did three hours for her but if I did the make up and hairstyle it would’ve been close when the wedding starts which is concerning. So yeah as much as they were nice and all it’s crazy how long it would take to get those done.

This is my second time coming to Auroras, and each time I come to get my hair highlighted Red it turns out Beautiful! I Love the staff everyone here is so friendly! Best experience EVER, Aurora is amazing💕 she was my hairstylist And she’s the owner as well. I hadn’t dyed my hair in over 3 years and let me tell you she took good care of my hair, I explained to her how I wanted my hair and bam that’s exactly what she did. She really takes her time and cares for your hair which is what we all want. I’m in love with my hair it’s everything I ever wanted. I walked out of the salon feeling beautiful thanks to Aurora. I will DEFINITELY be back , if your looking to do your hair I highly recommend you trying Auroras beauty salon You will not be disappointed.🥰

Horrible service , Aurora did my highlights she dried and fried my hair she was rude and very expensive. when I told her not to put me under the hair dryer she said well then you will have to wait till the end , she left me till she was done with other customers for a long time . I will never go here again it was a very bad experience
