I had a great experience with Back to Africa… first of all I called and got a same day appointment then I got small box braids and only was there 5.5 hours! Amazing work and service I am pregnant so not only was she super nice and super fast I got to order food go get it and have as many bathroom breaks as needed! I recommend this fast friendly service to anyone in need and the price was great and affordable!!!

Bad business I do not recommend going here. First time I tried to get my son hair done and she called me back to schedule an appointment and when I got here at the time she gave me she was still doing a lady hair and had like 2 hours left. Second time I brought my son to the shop so she could see his hair and she said it will be $50 to wash and retwist. Schedule a appointment and it was three after I asked and get here she said can't wash but will wet hair and do it i said ok then she says looking at it I will have to start over and it's going to be $70. His hair still looks the same from three days ago why didn't you say that when I brought him so that you could see in person now you saying it's different and definitely not like this lady played in my face for the second time. I highly don't recommend NOBODY to go here use to be a good shop but she is definitely bad business now.

My favorite place ever!!! Agnes you are so talented and your work is pure quality!!! I can’t thank you enough. I got my box braids and I’m so in love with them. If you want to have your hair done with the most attention to detail, this is your place. The ladies are so sweet. They will make sure you leave more than happy with your hair.

I've been going to Agnes for years before I did my big chop last summer. I'm now trying to grow my hair back out, so I started going back in January. This time I chose to get spring twist as my protective style and I absolutely love it!!! I get so many compliments. Highly recommend this shop. Agnes will definitely take care of you.

Agnes and Sophia have been braiding my hair for about 4 years. Both of them always does an exceptional job braiding my hair and are sweethearts. They are professional, clean, punctual, and provide a relaxing salon experience. I also love that they take good care of my hair (they have growing hands).

Amazing customer experience, called and received a same day appointment. Upon arrival, she immediately brought out samples of different braid styles, colors, sizes, and techniques that they offered. Washed and blow dried my hair prior to styling. In and out in 5 hours with a beautiful and painless design. Exactly what I'd asked for, attentive and engaging stylist, a beautiful shop with comfortable and inviting atmosphere. So if you're in Virginia and want your hair braided right - Back to Africa is the place to go. Would give you 10 stars if I could.

During my recent appointment, I arrived and was promptly offered a chair to sit in. However, I ended up waiting for quite a long time, approximately an hour and a half, for someone to attend to my hair. Another client and I struck up a conversation to pass the time with some small talk. Unfortunately, the owner seemed to become increasingly irritated and upset by our chatting. Surprisingly, she refused to do my hair and displayed a rather unpleasant attitude. It almost seemed as if she had a fluctuating mood condition. Due to the owner's behavior and attitude, I cannot recommend this place. Moreover, the establishment could benefit from some cleaning and tidying up.

I have been going to this salon for YEARS. I took a break and returned today and it was just like I never left. The owner remembered me and asked about my family. We started on time and she made sure she had the size and color I wanted correct. Very professional and timely and that's appreciated so much. Highly recommend!

I’ve been coming to the salon for almost two years they are extremely professional and welcoming. I always get my box braids done by them. The braids are neat and they last a very long time. They have always insured my desires are met. I dislike heavy braids, and I haven’t had an issue with any braids that I’ve gotten here. 10/10 I recommend that you book with them I promise you will not be disappointed.

This salon is absolutely amazing! The owner is kind and helpful and great at what she does. I purchase the Black soap pretty frequently, and when I say Amazing I mean Amazing!!!! It cleared up my skin very quick and any other breakouts I have had. I highly recommend!

had a Great experience @ this African Braid Shop, the Ladies were Very Professional & Business like! Don't think they even stopped for breaks!Prices are also very reasonable, if you're tender headed like I am I recommend Pain tablets Before your appt! They're Very Fast too, you won't be disappointed, give them a shot

Boho Box Braids was my service - please save your money or put it towards somebody who can really do the job. This mother/daughter duo needs training. When I first went in, I was asked so many questions about how I wanted my hairstyle. I spoke with the mother on the phone, sent her a picture. She didn't ask any of these questions. On the phone she let me know to bring in the water wave extension hair because she didn't have any. I asked her what kind. She told me to ask the people at the salon. (I should have taken that as a red flag) I was very excited for this hairstyle but after going back and forth about how big I wanted the braid, the length of it, how big I wanted the part to be...I just started getting a headache. I asked, "From looking at this picture, you can't tell what I need?" Mother starts the braids, daughter finishes the ends. Daughters braids to the end look so bad. I honestly feel scammed. I wish I was lying when I say this part....but I think there was a rodent in there because tubs of product kept dropping in the dark room in front of me and nobody was in there. They didn't tell me why it was dropping, they just spoke amongst themselves and kept doing my hair. The mom tried to assure that she's been doing hair for 11 years...but it's okay to go back to school and learn some new things. (i.e. hair tucking....which she didn't do). This was my birthday hair. I ended up coming home and cutting a lot of the water wave hair out. Mother was kind, but they just need to be honest and say when they can't do certain hairstyles. To me, the lack of honesty is what makes them scammers.

I highly recommend!!! I was a little hesitant until I read the reviews. Prices are fair, and the shop is welcoming and clean. I didn’t use the restroom, so my review doesn’t include it. I got medium box braids- and was done in about 5 hours. I will definitely be back!!

The atmosphere with these wonderful ladies are amazing. Feels like you are at home!!! Been getting my hair done since 2017 from Back to Africa braiding salon. When my man came to pick me up he sent me back in to give a extra tip.

The owner and her daughter really took care of me. I called at the last minute and they still managed to fit me in even while working on someone else. I love their work ethic. While one is busy the other would hop on my hair. I highly recommend these ladies. ❤️❤️❤️
