Very warm and welcoming environment, and my cut and color is always super high quality! Update: 4 years later and this is still an amazing place. They recently changed ownership, but still have the same vibe and quality that they're known for. Very inclusive space with awesome stylists!

Lovely little salon, great vibe, very accessible. The people here know what they're doing and really work with you. They seem very accommodating, and I went home with a cut I'm extremely happy with. Sage was great! Update: Yep, still fantastic. Thanks Kori!

Everyone at Badlands is really nice, but I’m feeling really frustrated after my recent haircut there. I showed my stylist a photo of a longer short cut (long enough on the sides to sit over most of the ear, definitely more pixie than men’s cut), answered a few questions, and then they went on to cut. I was going from a bob to short hair for the first time in a couple years, and I was excited to be able to get a more interesting hair cut than I usually did before my grow-out. The cut I ended up with is much shorter than the picture (cut around the ears, short on the sides) The top is also very heavy, and I feel like I look like John Oliver back in the Daily Show days. To top it all off, the hairline in the back is very, very uneven (enough that one of my coworkers made an unsolicited offer to try to fix it while I was at work today). Feeling very disappointed, especially since I was so excited to be going back to short hair after an interlude of longer cuts. I’m going to have to go somewhere to get it fixed, and it’s going to take months and some awkward stages to grow out to the length I actually wanted. Feeling very sad about it, and really truly nobody wants their hair to look rough enough that a straight man with some scissors offers to help you out.

Always a great experience. Been getting my hair cut here since 2021. I can’t trust anyone else with my wavy 2a/2b hair. Reina is so talented and love supporting women owned businesses. Also, the hair care supplies are staples in my routine now too!

Had a phenomenal experience with Sage. Have been on a hair journey trying to find a more masculine style and the subtle changes they did really brought my cut to the next level. I felt listened to, respected, and they really took the time to give me exactly what I wanted. Will definitely be back!

Helen did an amazing job with my cut and color. I wanted a big change and they listened and delivered on my cut. They gave me the most fun pink which was just what I wanted. For a good vibe, lgbt+ safe space this is the place!

Jenn Silva is the BEST colorist/stylist I have ever worked with, and I have worked with many, including the entertainment industry. She is an absolute color expert, with a smart, calm vibe that puts you right at ease. I cannot recommend her highly enough...and I will never go elsewhere!

Jenn Silva of Badlands has been doing my hair color for a few years now. She is excellent! She is attentive and very knowledgeable about her craft. I have allergic reactions to hair color but Jenn has figured out how to color my hair with minimal allergy issues. She cares about her clients. The salon is always clean and the staff is friendly and courteous. They always try to accommodate their clients. I give Badlands two thumbs up!

Such a nice experience getting my first hair cut by Reina since transitioning. I was a little insecure with my hairline, but she was so sweet and welcoming and honestly works a pair of scissors like it's a second pair of hands, and gave me the cutest haircut I could have imagined.

Great salon, products, service, and vibe. My stylist is Sage and can’t praise them enough for guiding me through my hair journey. I went from long hair to getting half a undercut style bob, including dying my Asian hair to copper. Hair is still healthy, and I’ve received so many compliments!

I've never before left a salon only to go home and cry. I booked an appointment for a cut ($125) and single process color ($130). From the moment I sat down in Jenn's chair, her attitude towards me was curt. She barely touched my hair during the consult and when she did, was rough with it. She answered my questions with a condescending tone and the minimal amount of information. The consult and cut lasted about 10 minutes. She then quickly and roughly applied color to my roots. She set a timer for 35 minutes and walked away. I assumed she was having a bad day but then her next client sat down in the chair directly next to me. Jenn was friendly and engaging with this client, taking time to chat with her and make her comfortable. It was like night and day. I could tell Jenn was also respectful in the way she physically touched her other client's hair. I was really upset and at the same time felt trapped because I had the color dye in my hair and couldn't just walk out. After about 35 minutes of friendly banter and service with her client, Jenn came back to my chair, saying the timer had gone off. She roughly washed the color out of my hair. I sat under the hair dryer as eager as possible to leave. At this point I was upset and mortified at how I had been treated and was desperate to leave the salon. Jenn asked me to come back to the chair so she could finalize my hair. She noticed that I was upset and asked if something was wrong. I told her no because I had no desire to directly interact with her anymore. She dried my hair, this time actually being gentle, probably because it was obvious I was upset. She did not re-check my haircut to see if it needed to be refined. She just told me I was done. I bolted out and ran home, where I broke down crying. I’ve been to Badlands over the years and never had this experience with the other stylists- who were attentive and warm. Update: I did call the salon and left a message for the owner, who quickly returned my call. I felt she was respectful about my feedback and also conveyed that the stylist's behavior was not in line with the values of the salon. She did mention that she would hold a whole staff meeting to discuss client treatment. She also offered to refund the services.
