Jay has been with me from the start of my natural "Curly Girl" journey since January 2024. It's now October 2024, and my hair is longer than when he first met me, it hasn't even been a year yet! He understood completely that I wanted my natural curl pattern back again after years and years of bleaching and heat on my hair. Jay has taught me so much about my own curls and how to take care of them - I know my curls are safe with Jay <3 the most flattering curly cut every time!

I LOVE Jay + Baja Studio!! I've been getting my hair done by him for 2 years, and I won't go anywhere else. He has my complete trust and is an expert at totally refreshing my look while still keeping my hair long. I always look forward to my appointments - the vibe of the entire studio is great. Loved my experience at Baja Studio NYC. Jay was professional, knowledgeable and so lovely to deal with. He blow-dried my long curly hair into a big bouncy style that lasted on my holiday in NY. So good, I went back for another one! Thank you Jay.

Absolutely in LOVE with my new cut. Jay took his time with making sure I got exactly what would work for me while still walking me through how my hair would fall, wash, as well as how I could style it myself. He is very clearly skilled at what he does and completes it happily! Everyone was so welcoming, which made it very comfortable and relaxed. The studio itself is absolutely beautiful and made me feel like a true It Girl. This will now be my go-to for myself as well as all my friends. Much love to Baja Studio and everyone involved. :))

I decided to come here to dye my hair back to more of my natural color after accidentally dying it too light. Eliana was my colorist and understood my wishes so well and knows exactly what she is doing. As well she was very thorough in detail and care explaining to me what the process would look like and the different options i could have from my ideas. We both agreed to tone it down little by little to see how it went, and i couldn’t have picked a better stylist to handle my issue. She made me look better than i thought i would look like coming out. And not only this, she has the most amazing energy as well as the two other stylists Jay, and Emilly that were working in the salon this day. I am definitely coming back again, everything about this place is just perfect.

Jay is the absolute best! He is an incredible talent with scissors & razor, who really listens to his clients and creates a haircut that matches your face and personality. He is very attentive, creative, and a true perfectionist! I am French and prior to him it was a challenge to find a hairdresser in NYC who could cut short and medium length hair. I’ve tried different styles and lengths with him and always love the result. Thank you Jay!

I just went for a corrective color (double-process tint back). Eliana was absolutely amazing and so knowledgeable. She explained everything in great detail and actively listened to what I was looking for. I am obsessed with the color and will absolutely be going back in the future. The studio was sunny, clean, relaxing and overall a great experience. Can’t rave about it enough and I’ve tried many salons in the city now but this is my new favorite!!

Eliana and Jay are a dream team! I came into the salon looking for a color and cut that would be lower maintenance but still feel like an upgrade. My wedding day is coming up and though I started my consultation with a long list of hopes and details- I truly feel I got everything I requested and more. You can trust Jay to cut your curls with tender awareness of your goals. It's the first time I've left a salon chair and felt lighter but not like all my length was chopped. Eliana handled the initial consultation which made it so easy to come in and feel ready for the appointment. There was a free blow out and the end of the service and regardless of this, Jay still showed me how the haircut looked with my hair curled! I really appreciated all of their extra efforts. Strong strong recommendation to come here if you're looking for your go-to salon. The vibe is very calm and attracts equally easy going clients. You feel like you're in a room where everyone gets to leave a happier version of themselves. The price point at Baja isn't very different from prices anywhere else but you certainly feel like you're in a celebrity stylist's chair.

Eliana is the best hair colorist I’ve ever had. Having curly hair, it’s always been difficult to find a colorist/hair stylist I can trust. Even though I struggled to articulate exactly what color and style I was looking for, Eliana took the time to talk with me and go through my inspiration photos to capture what I was hoping for and she absolutely NAILED it. She talked me through the entire process so I never felt in the dark and I truly couldn’t be happier with the end product!

Malcom and Jay are incredible! Malcom is an expert at creating the natural blonde look. When I tell people I get highlights they always say they would have never guessed. Jay always works with me to identify the style and look I'm going for and works with my hair type. Plus they are kind and fun to hang with. Highly recommend Baja!

This salon has very talented stylists. Jay does cut and style along with other services and I use Eliana for color. I often get compliments from strangers in stores and on the street regarding color and cut. I highly recommend the salon

Angela is a world class stylist, so I’m very lucky that she’s been cutting my hair for at least 6 years! She’s also a dedicated, high-integrity entrepreneur. I can’t say enough good about her cool, intimate Thompson salon, Baja Studio. Every day, the Baja Studio crew raise a flag for woman-owned small businesses in NYC and make us look damn good while they’re at it!!!

Baja Studio is a gem. I’ve been going to Angela for 8+ years and will never let anyone touch my hair. Inside is super cute, intimate and the service is excellent. All the staff make you feel special and take care of, I always leave in a good mood. Booking is easy. I drive 1.5 hours from CT to come here every 6-8 weeks and park at the garage across from Soho Grand Hotel which is less than a 2 min walk to the salon. Highly highly recommend. Also, if you need a snack/drink before your appointment, Matchafull is a block away and has great drinks!

I had my hair cut and toned at the salon and Jay was simply amazing! I couldn’t be happier with the way my hair looks. He was friendly, honest and did his thing!!! Definitely will be going back. Finding an amazing stylist is not easy and I am so happy I have.

I had the pleasure of having my hair both highlighted and cut by the genius Angela. I was a little scared to try a new stylist after a disastrous coloring experience at a different salon but Angela worked her magic, corrected my color and gave me beautiful new highlights. She also gave me a sleek gorgeous haircut. I have gotten so many compliments on my color and cut! The salon itself is such a zen space where everyone makes you feel at home. As a single mom, they were super kind and amenable to me bringing my child along as I didn't have childcare that day. I feel blessed to have Angela work her magic on my hair and look forward to going back there. I highly recommend Baja.

I have very curly hair and blowouts are often ruined by humidity for me. When I tell you the blowouts are emaculate! I am not sure what sorcery the stylists posses but my hair withstands humidity, is sleek and shiny and lasts for days. Worth every penny. Not to mention the staff is so warm and welcoming. They spoil you with beverages and the best scalp massages. A beauty oasis. Go visit. I always see Angela and Jay they are my faves.

I've been going to Baja since they opened. It's an amazing salon, very cozy and intimate. The service is absolutely great here. Angela has been doing my hair for years, and I'd follow her to middle earth if she opened shop there. Lol. In addition to her, the other colorists and stylists are really awesome. You're getting a very curated experience here with top notch artists who understand hair.

Jay at Baja changed my life lol. I have long fine hair and always wanted layers - but whenever I would ask for that my hair was left too thin with no shape. Jay worked magic! He is an artist and gave me the most beautiful shaped haircut ever! Seriously - I will never go anywhere else. Also the studio is super cut and the lighting is perfect for selfies. Run don’t walk!

I had an amazing experience at baja studio!! Everyone working was kind and accommodating! Jay literally saved me after I had a halloween hair disaster! I’ve told myself that i’ll never get bangs again, but after I accidentally cut a piece of my hair, it was the only option I had. Not only did Jay fix my hair, but he made me think that it was meant to be! The studio is also really cute and well-maintained :) I will be going back!
