I had probably one of the best hair cuts of my life here. I had my hair cut by Kim, the sweetest lady, who even though there was a language barrier, constantly checked in with me on lengths throughout the cut. I asked for a lot of layers without sheering because I like to keep the thickness of my hair. I also asked for wispy bangs and when I say she ATE and left no crumbs I mean it. I highly recommend you check this hair salon out.

Worst haircut ever ! OMG don't go there they will destroy your hair and treat you with disrespect throughout the process. They should not be allowed to cut hair.. ! !

Awful experience. Had an appointment for haircut with trainee, trainee did not show up. No one called me, changed entire schedule. Said I could have haircut with stylist, expensive. Customer service where are you?

Been getting my hair cut here for the last year and always have had a good outcome and a great experience. They also styled my hair for my wedding and were so generous when I came in for the trial - they let me try both a down style and two different updos to make sure I was really happy with how it looked. Honestly, I am one of this people who is never happy with how my hair is styled for an event, so I expected this to be the same, but I really loved how my hair turned out!

I've been here once for a blowout with owner Ronnie, and more recently for a haircut with Phillip. Both booked through ClassPass, both fantastic. The blow out left my hair smoother than it'd ever been, and the haircut was one of the best I've had. Booked it on a whim. Phillip is a really talented hairdresser and all around really nice guy. Took his time—the cut lasted an hour and a half—and gave me the super precise bob I was looking for. He works at the salon Monday-Friday, and I highly, highly recommend getting your hair cut with him.

Norma at Bao was meticulous. She took her time and gave me the absolute best haircut. I can’t say enough good things about Bao. Even the lady who washed my hair was fantastic, there’s nothing like a good head massage. I will definitely go back!

Updated 3/13 The owner Ronnie made it super difficult for me to use my complimentary hair color which was given to me in return for a botched up job. Out of the 6 times I suggested, none were apparently available. This place is a scam, stay away from it! Updated 10/3 This is an update to my original review, I changed the rating from 1 to 3 star. This is because the owner - Ronnie fixed my hair. Although due to two haircuts in one week, in spite of my hair being barely cut the second time around, it's still shorter than I originally wanted, but the haircut is good. I appreciate Ronnie's sincerity and wanting to make up for the error. She has also offered a free future color and haircut to make up for the inconvenience. ......................................... This is the first time that I am questioning the legitimacy of the reviews. I am new to the neighborhood, was looking for a place to get color and haircut for my birthday. All other salons were booked in advance, so I decided to take a chance with Bao and what a mistake it was! The color was specifically to cover my grays, which I had communicated several times. My stylist was a middle aged woman who did not speak English at all and the owner had to translate everything I was saying to her. This didn't bother me and I decided to take a chance. The color was nice, but when I went back home and checked my hair, there were a bunch of grays right there in the front, which I couldn't spot in the salon light. After spending two hours, I had to pluck out the grays before my bday party. But the worst of all is my haircut, I got charged $90 for it. All I wanted was a trim and I am so glad that I asked for nothing more. While she was cutting, I realized that this seemed so old fashioned, she was fumbling and was so haphazard. She didn't even check my hair from different angles to make sure the length was even. With the blow dry and the two minutes I got to check my hair at distance, I didn't notice a thing. Went home and there are literally little pieces of hair that are longer than the other. The whole length of my hair is uneven!! Is this called a hair stylist? I would not pay $20 for this haircut. I could have done a better job cutting my hair at home. Called up the salon and the owner said she will fix this. I am so scared of even stepping into this place. But I have spent so much money here that I need to get it fixed. Will update/add to my review after this fix!

Do not go here unless you don't care about the outcome of your hair. It is very expensive and I was unhappy both times I went. First I got a cut and balayage and it was way shorter than I wanted and looked like zebra stripes. Another time I went to get a full head dye to go brown. It was dyed black. Now I am stuck with black hair and very unhappy.

Got a haircut today and was disappointed with my experience. First, I was told the cost of a haircut was around $85, but was charged $140 (without tip). I wasn't told until I had to pay that I would be charged more because I "have a lot of hair." I understand having to pay more because I have more hair than most, but what I didn't like was the lack of communication up front. Second, I asked for face framing layers and long layers. While she was cutting, the stylist began to thin out my hair without asking me first. I like having thick hair and was disappointed by the amount of layers I got and how thin my hair came out. Did not like my experience and will not be coming back.

Personable haircut experience! I like Phillip who is there Monday-Wednesday. He really takes the time to explain his decisions and how to tailor the cut you want to your hair texture/flattering shape for your face. Bao is also very kind definitely has built a clientele base here in Brooklyn. Will be back!

The boutique salon gives an intimate VIP experience. The store is beautiful and elegantly decorated, super clean and chic. The stylist has an unique gift to understand my needs and bring the best of myself, her cut boosted my self confidence and I feel so special as well as so authentic. It’s truly a gem.

This is the kind of place that tells you how you should cut your hair and ignores what you say. I explained what I’d like, then after a lot more cutting than it should’ve warranted, I asked what was happening. The woman cutting my hair told me what I asked for would “look bad with my face” so she gave me the cut she think looks better. And when I explained that there’s a reason I cut my hair a certain way, due to insecurities or preferences over my lifetime, she just kind of shrugged. She never mentioned to me what she was doing and rushed into what she wanted. And she wasn’t gentle either. So I paid $100 for a haircut she wanted for my head. The only reason it isn’t a one star is because the other woman was nicer.
