Love this place! Super queer and inclusive, which is important for haircuts specifically in my opinion. The stylists aren't limited by restrictive "men/women" haircuts or pricing. I've been seeing Sergio who always has the most fabulous outfits and makes sure i'm happy with the length and texture.

I don't usually write reviews, but I was very happy with my haircut. I don't live in Chicago, but I really wanted to get a haircut while I was here. I researched salons and chose this one because it seemed like a safe and creative environment-and it really was. I don't speak English fluently, so I let the team know about my language barrier at the start of the appointment. That didn't stop Moon from being super friendly and answering all my questions, even if she had to talk to both me and my sibling. Moon was very thorough, and it had been a long time since I felt like someone had spent so much time and care on my hair. Everyone at the salon was welcoming, and the atmosphere was beautiful, with paintings and photos all around. I felt really comfortable in a space where I usually feel a bit intimidated. I'm happy and hope you all continue to do great work for your clients and your community.

Okay so you know when you find a stylist who really understands what you’re trying to do with your hair and then meets and often exceeds your expectations? That’s Cam Robert for me. In addition to being an incredibly cool person with a wide range of creative pursuits, Cam is also a very kind and lovely person and an absolute joy to chat with when in their chair! I have very specific needs for my hair that requires someone who is both an adept barber and a coloring master. I have very thin hair on top, that is a little curly, and I shave the back and sides of my head to skin. You’d be surprised at how many barbers get flustered when you ask them to shave your head like that, especially if you’re at all a little femme. The first time I was in their chair, Cam listened to my needs, got it right away, and gave me the best haircut I’ve had in a very, very long time. They also are really great at answering hair questions and teaching me how to do stuff with my hair. I was curious about going curly instead of always straightening my hair, and Cam showed me how to style it and helped me find a product that works for me! I would continue to return to Cam, if even just for the haircut alone. On top of that, I feel the most euphoric with bright, colorful hair, and I’ve been lucky enough to have Cam give me the most beautiful prism rainbows and hombres and joy on top of my head that I could ever ask for! They’ve even matched my hair color to some funky glasses I have! I’m at the point now where I just give Cam a prompt and let them run with it. Their gorgeous creations are always delightful, and I am overjoyed every time I look in the mirror! If you’re looking for a master of hair color and someone who will give you an amazing cut, go to Cam! Highly recommended!!!

The best, most caring, salon artists I have seen in a long time. After moving to Chicago I tried to find someone to carr for my hair and its style; that was in 2017. Finally, after a few years I found Jordan at B&B and have to look no more. Love this place!

I cannot say enough good things about Dante & the Barbara&Barbara team. From the first interaction, everyone was so kind and customer service oriented. Dante was incredible! I just moved to Chicago and I spent weeks searching for a good salon for a curly cut. Dante was extremely helpful and educational - he (patiently) answered all of my questions and offered great suggestions based on what I was looking for. He took the time to explain what different things meant (my hair knowledge is very limited) and made sure I was happy with the results. Very well kept salon, could not recommend more! Very affordable for the quality of service, as well.

I had booked an appointment for hair Color but they said it is for cut and did not give any service and didn’t do any accommodations even after requesting. Very disappointed.

5 stars. Bravo. I had a really bad experience getting balayage and emailed the salon letting them know I wasn't happy with the outcome and Lauren, the owner, fixed my hair BEAUTIFULLY. If I wasn't generally a very bashful person I would share pictures. My hair was brassy and didn't look anything like balayage - it looked like I dyed my hair copper and it grew out. For weeks I considered possibly toning it at home or maybe dyeing it all back to my natural dark brown. Once Lauren got their hands on my hair, all my problems went away. They showed me how to use a few products to restore my hair's health and also gave me highlights, lowlights, and toned my hair down so it looked intentional. I would say my hair is beautiful now especially considering I had originally come in with virgin hair after shaving my head and letting it all grow out again (never using heat, which is the devil my eyes). My curls are BACK. The natural shine is BACK. Lauren is a wizard. I don't know how they do it. I will also add here that I got an AMAZING curly cut from Jesse prior to this & awesome advice on co-conditioning which led to my virgin hair really shining (literally) and my curls becoming impeccable. I mean, perfect spirals from root to end. I didn't know my hair was capable of that since I have a white-washed Cuban mom who was in denial of her OWN hair being curly and my own knowledge leading to her embracing her hair's texture. I will return to Barbara&Barbara, but I have read other people's reviews here and on Yelp and please, if you don't like the outcome of something, speak up. These are extremely approachable, humble people. They deserve your business and will work with you to improve your circumstances if you don't walk out happy. Give this place your business! Trust in them!

Got a new haircut (pixie) and the stylist was good. The studio is pleasant and busy. He put me under an old school hairdryer which was surprisingly relaxing. Ni will go back there.

Asked for 1.5 inches off and took up to 4 in certain places. Would not recommend Blake as a stylist. They also only asked me about the length AFTER they cut 4 inches off. Queers beware

Came here as a first timer from the suburbs on Sunday since I feel like the old salon I went to none of the stylists knew what I was looking for and basically always gave me a hairstyle at the end that didn’t suit me. When I arrived to this salon I felt welcomed and at peace. The receptionist was very nice. Moon was my stylist, they asked the right questions about my hair. Moon gave me the exact hair cut and styled it exactly how I wanted! I tend to air dry my hair bc I liked how curly my hair ends up so they did the things that would give me that same result. I’ve never loved a haircut so much! Even recommended me some hair products so I can style my hair at home. Thank you moon! I am for sure coming back and will be asking for them again!

I excitedly went here for my first salon experience since moving here and crossed town just based on recommendations and I'm more than disappointed. I followed all the stylists instructions and bought the products they recommended after getting my hair colored, and not even two weeks later the colors had completely bled together, my hair was completely different colored and looked terrible. Now a few months out my hair has long streaks of white where it was bleached as the color has completely run out of my hair. I'm contemplating cutting my hair to chin length because of the severe damage for hair that is now bleach white. I paid so much for this and I feel terrible and ashamed of my hair now.

Let me just say that I am incredibly picky about my hair. I am incredibly fussed about it on a regular basis. I recently got a quick cut here and was introduced not only to humans that asked so many questions about what I wanted so they could be 100% sure I left happy, but also cut my hair to really accentuate my features, and introduced me to the best hair products I’ve ever had. I really can’t rave enough. I will be coming back as a regular, no doubt.

Went there for the first time on Saturday and had the pleasure of having Sergio cut my hair. He was well organized, clean, professional, and cut my hair exactly how I wanted it. I have Asian hair and have found that can be a challenge for some, but Sergio knew exactly how to work with it. I would happily have him cut my hair again when the time comes around to it.

Let’s get into it… I am writing this review from my car after leaving from this service. I went to the apprentice and feel like I just wasted 4 hours of my good Sunday for what was supposed to be a silk press. Wasn’t quoted a price and specifically asked to be shown how much hair was being cut but it wasn’t until I noticed how short my hair had gotten that is when she attempted to talk me through it. But by that point I did not want to hear anything, I asked to be explained while cutting or give an idea before hand. This is far from a silk press. Pictures attached are me walking out of the salon not even 5 minutes later. no body, bounce, ends look horrible and heard them as they went through the flat iron. I should have known better is all I can say. My hair was cut into a bob and all I can do is cry. I was rushed out the chair, and just everythin went awful. Look at the ends, this is just horrible! They do not work well with natural/4C hair. Very disappointed.

I have never gotten a curly cut or had someone really know what they were doing when cutting my hair but Alex was absolutely amazing. He knew exactly how to shape and cut my hair to achieve everything I wanted. I got more definition, more volume, and tips on how to keep my hair looking awesome. I HIGHLY recommend this salon!!!

I love this salon because of the quality service in a comfortable and affirming environment. Cam provides exceptional haircuts while going above and beyond to be attentive to folks’ unique needs. They also gave me incredibly helpful styling tips for an important event. After a fresh cut with Cam, I always leave feeling amazing about my fade.
