I am from out of State for over two months while my husband is doing therapy at Shirley Ryan AbilityLab. I needed to have my roots colored. I picked Irma's salon because it was near by, but am very pleased as Bertha did a great job matching my color, then blow drying my hair. Bertha and Irma were SO nice.

OMG! The worst of the worst! I paid this woman a hefty amount just to fix my hair and cut it one lengthy. Easy right? That’s what you would think. Nope! She doesn’t listen and I end up having to walk all the way back to her salon only to be turned away by her partner who one minute days my hair is all one length to it’s uneven. This woman is blind as a bat! It was do obvious that my hair wa unevenly cur. Unfortunately I cannot in good conscience recommend this salon. It’s difficult to find and she had the wrong sign displayed which is even more confusing!! Run like your the last two monkeys boarding Noah’s Ark and it’s starting to rain! You’ve been warned folks! Enter st your own risk!!!

Bertha and Irma are so generous, welcoming, and talented! I had a big formal event that evening and thought I was just going to get a basic trim, but when I decided toward the end of my appointment to do a more elaborate updo, they both teamed up to help make my dream look happen! They make you feel like you’re in their living room with how welcoming they are. I definitely recommend - professional and yet still very affordable!

Bertha was amazing. It's a bit hard to find, you need to ring the bell at the front and then take the stairs to the first floor. The salon is at the end of the hallway. Great location if you're looking for a fast haircut.

Great haircuts! After several bad haircuts jn chicago I found this great place and have never gone anywhere else. Their availability is great and Irma and Bertha are sweet and caring.

I have been seeing Irma for the last few years and she always has done a fantastic job with different requests for haircuts. Always very welcoming and accommodating during visits. The price for the quality of cut are also hard to beat in downtown Chicago. Could not recommend enough!

I was in town for a meeting and needed a place at the last minute to do a quick blow dry. The place the hotel recommended was fully booked, so after some google searching, I found this hidden away spot. Was happy to support this woman & Latina owned small business. Irma's is unpretentious & took me in no problem!

I went in to Irma’s Beauty Salon looking for a change as I had rarely done anything to my hair after the pandemic. I was very pleased with both the services Irma and Bertha provided. They ensured to time the process correctly as I requested highlights and a layered haircut. They both kept checking In with me regularly. I am beyond thrilled with my new look. I highly recommend checking them out!

Irma is great! I got a low fade and a trim on top for my combover, my haircut came out perfect. Normally I’m very picky about my haircuts and I was very happy with the work Irma did. Also her prices are very fair unlike other places. 10/10 thank you Irma!

This is a hard review for me to update because I have gotten both my best and not favorite hair cute here. Bertha is an an artist!!! She knows how to do make hair shine!!! Irma her co owner is very nice and also talented but she gave me a cut that wasn’t bad but was not what I had asked for. She cut my hair much much shorter than I had asked and in a slightly different style. My mother literally gasped when she saw me. I dress kinda androgynous and have a hair style that matches but when I go for haircut I just wear my quarter zip gym shirt cuz it’s easier to clean. So I think Irma thought I wanted a regular mens cut even though I was specific and described something different. Irma gave me a very very masculine haircut when Bertha usually gives me a much more non gender specific look. - I was very emotional about it as it will take me several months to get the 2 inch of growth that was cut off to come back but a few days out I feel better now that the emotions are settled. Again it doesn’t look bad for a traditional man haircut but it just makes me look not like myself. I’m trying to take the opportunity as a growth thing and styling my look more fem to counter act the cut but next time I will go to Bertha as I trust her to get my styling better. Very friendly, personal, and quality haircut (23M). Bertha took so much care in my hair and beard and tried to get away with charging only $35, even though we ran way past closing. Finding a good stylist is always a dice roll, and I rolled really well.

Bertha and Irma are amazing stylists! I dropped in without an appointment at the end of the day. They graciously greeted me, and I had almost no wait. I asked for a very short haircut, but they politely suggested a couple of areas to leave longer. I followed their advice, and I am very glad I did so. It was the best haircut I have ever gotten! I will definitely return for my next haircut. They prefer payment via Venmo, Zelle, or cash instead of a credit card.

Really an excellent, expert haircut, performed by conscientious professionals, at a price that is MORE than fair. The stylist listens carefully and is very responsive. I will be a regular client! I highly recommend you give Bertha and Irma a try -- especially if you have had enough of the higher prices, indifferent customer service, and distracted stylists at chain salons like the one directly across the street.
