First time at Bishops and I had a wonderful experience with my stylist Alexia. I called the night before to book an early appointment with the receptionist and she was able to get me in next day at 9am. I mentioned I wanted a fuller bang look as mine were outgrown self cut and kept splitting to a middle part so I brought in a few example photos for inspiration. She mentioned she was going to have to cut more hair to give me my desired look and within a short time she gave me exactly what I was hoping for, fuller looking bangs that can be trained to stay in place giving me a soft polished look! Thank you Alexia I will definitely come back again :)

I was not impressed with the my haircut. I brought a picture with me, but ended up with different haircut. I parked on street and it’s free Monday through Saturday after 5pm.

This is my partner's go to barber shop in San Jose. They always do a good job and the staff are extremely friendly and accommodating.

I had a very disappointing experience here. My haircut appointment was canceled just 15 minutes before the scheduled time while I was almost there after a 30-minute drive. The reason? They were running late by 45 minutes and would have to go past closing time. What’s frustrating is their strict cancellation policy, where customers are charged 50% if they cancel within 24 hours. Yet, when they cancel on the customer at the last minute, there’s no offer of a refund or credit for the inconvenience caused. A business should value their clients' time as much as they value their own. This lack of professionalism and double standards left a bad impression, and I won't be returning.

The stylist, Meagan and I had been going back and forth with what I wanted. In the end i made a decision but we had agreed i didn't want something drastic. Finally I found something that I loved. I said give me whats on her head all over me please. Meaning give me exactly what she has. Keep in mind this girls virgin hair was exactly the same as mine. Which we watched the video back and Meagan agreed. Now imagine my surprise when I realized more than halfway in...that she was bleaching my entire head...and then started choosing colors for me. I was looking at them and did not even give me a chance to choose. Then as she chose the color i noticed a bowl of orange...A color we discussed I never wanted because I knew it just did not match my skin tone. Yet I decided to trust her because i knew she wouldn't do me wrong like that. Unfortunately I shouldn't have trusted her. It was clear she did not take anything I said into account. Now my Virgin once super healthy hair was ruined. Now I called and asked to get it fixed. (Considering she charged me more than $650 for this service, which speaking to my coworkers whom go to higher priced salons..saying I got scammed) I arrive and ask just to give me brown all around idc anymore just give me all brown. I was fed up and I was tired. I get met with "I should be charging you for this service but I am not going to". I didn't say anything but just apologized, knowing I wasn't in the wrong. I just wanted it fixed. Then i discussed with her again and showed her reference pictures of a solid chocolate brown. Much less to my surprise the salon was silent. She had spoken to another stylist for advice. Which was cool and all til that stylist asked her what she was planning on doing? And my stylist Megan said and I quote. "I'm going with the game-plan with which we discussed, regardless of what she showed me" Another slap in the face. I wanted to cry but yet said nothing. She mentioned to me that they had spoken about and i just said nice. Again at the corner of my eye I saw yet ANOTHER bowl of orange...I was livid. There was still orange hues in my hair but it was darker. This color started to fade so fast over the course of the week. I ended up spending more money myself fixing it. Went to Sallys and got exactly what I wanted. Point is. This salon is unprofessional and need to train their stylist. I have seen amazing reviews and honestly if you can do the style great! If you can't recommend me to someone else. I had spent my savings and was taken advantage of and was unhappy. I left images at the bottom of proof.

Emily has been doing my hair every 5 months since things opened up during the pandemic! She has allowed me to have fashion colors while still being bale to have healthy curls. She is the best thing to ever happen to my hair. She is beyond realistic to me as a client and keeps my hair integrity in-mind. I do not appreciate the new scheduling system that has been recently introduced.

I booked with a girl who is also a barber according to her instagram, because I asked for an undercut, I showed her a some pictures, since we had some of a barrier language. Well, haircut for the long part was ok, I have had better haircuts and services for a lot less money, but the undercut was horrible, I think I could did it better at home 🫠 I asked around 3 times to cut more because it didn’t look like in the pictures, I said I don’t know about numbers just cut short like in the picture. Well, I was just feeling bad about this and said it’s perfect and I leave the place, when I arrive at home I saw how bad it was the undercut, some long hair and a bad shape. Maybe they wanted me to pay for a long and a short haircut, they could just said that. I’m writing this some weeks after the haircut because I leave a review and they were supposed to contact me but they never did it. Just think twice before coming here, I went due to the good reviews but I was expecting more.

I was nervous about finding a stylist to cut my haircut after not having it done for 2 and a half years and desperately needed a trim. I couldn't fathom spending $100+ just to trim some split ends. SUPER HAPPY I came to Bishops. Megan did a great job and I'll certainly be back.

The salon gives a cool vibe, and my hairstylist was amazing in understanding the haircut I was going for, as well as giving their own recommendations for areas I was uncertain in! It’s definitely worth your money :D

I came to this salon after seeing reviews that said the stylists really listen and explain what they're doing as they cut your hair. Unfortunately I had the exact opposite experience. I came in with a specific idea of what I wanted with 5 reference photos and asked that I not be given a lot of bangs. Megan dismissively told me she had to cut as many bangs as she needed but she'd blend them into the layers and went right to cutting without any more discussion. I was faced away from the mirror the entire cut, so when I got the final reveal I didn't even know how to react. She gave me a TON of bangs that don't blend in at all! Honestly they're barely bangs, it looks more like someone accidentally cut big chunks of my hair on each side. My wavey hair was a damp frizzy mess since they don't style or even fully dry your hair so I went home thinking some styling might fix it (despite specifically asking for a low effort cut that doesn't need heat styling) but it's still terrible. They stick out around my glasses and fall in front of my eyes. They said I could come in and have them fix it, but I already had the manager cut my hair with very specific reference photos and she didn't listen so why would I trust them to cut this mess even shorter? The rest of the cut is fine but now I'm pinning back these "bangs" every day like I'm growing them out even though I JUST grew all this hair out for the past few years. It'll take years to fix this mess. Also, it's weird to face other customers and the street for the whole haircut.

I'm quite particular when in comes to my hair and every cut I have had from Bishops have been among the best I've ever had. Add to that their incredible service in a friendly and welcoming atmosphere and I simply cannot recommend anyone consider going anywhere else. Top notch, A+
