You just lost my business! I was told $50 over the phone for a wash and braid down. I'm currently wearing protective styles over my hair to allow my hair to grow. I was charged $75 plus I gave a $10 tip! Never again! I believe in paying and tipping well for services however I don't like surprises. Not good business! I barely have any hair to warrant this amount! The owner (female) should have honored the price she quoted me over the phone.instead she stood there and said nothing. I’ve been there a handful of times and it seems like the more successful they are, the more they try to gouge their customers! All I can say is enjoy that $75 plus tip because I won’t be returning!

Just wanted to start of by saying that I went to Black Lotus because it was black owned. My experience was good, but my service wasn't done correctly and it didn't last (literally fell off in my car in the parking lot). I was charged $30 something dollars to have $5 dollar lashes applied. I am very disappointed in the owner and how she responds to both negative and constructive criticism. I thought the owner was a very beautiful black woman. When running a business, there will be haters, just that simple. And there will be people who simply didn't enjoy their service, but to go back and forth with previous customers in the review section is unprofessional and unboss-like. When I think of a lotus, I think about how beautiful it is and how it is literally rooted in mud. And despite that, it continues to grow and bloom. I hope to see this establishment turn it's attitude around or they won't be around very long. Eventually people will begin to talk about the services being provided and done incorrectly along with being overpriced. May Jesus Christ cover this place, not Buddha, sage, or incense, or anyone other God or form of witchcraft for that matter, just Jesus Christ. God bless 💓

Just would not recommend. Paid full price for a 3 hour late appointment called me and asked me if they could push me bac 2 hour I said fine to that. Just to get there wait an additional hour. rushed my service was not satisfied at all with the lady who washed,re-twisted my hair. She half washed my hair. Half did everything and still charged me 120 for just a re-twist nothing extra…. Some of them in there need to work on there customer service very poor in rude. Also I think more training can be used in there especially for the barbers who cut. They got me right one time and never again it’s all ways uneven the line is never clean.

This place is nice and clean, but I took away 3 stars for the following reasons (when I addressed concerns with owner there was no follow up or resolution provide): (1) I was told to “come as i am.” When I arrived with unwashed hair my stylist charged me extra for a wash. Clients should not have to guess how much service will be when they sit in a chair. All charges need to be clear and up front. I assumed when the statement was made “come as I am” the charges presented during booking included a wash. (2) My appointment was in the afternoon at 4pm and my stylist informed me that if I would have “come in at 8am she would have done a better job.” If the expectation is we pay 100% I expect the finished product to be 100% no matter what time of day I come in especially for the price I paid. (3) These are pictures 3-5 days after appt. My hair began coming out of some of braids after about 3 days. Some of the braids were uneven and/or crooked; twisting every which way especially at the roots. The start of the braids looked more like regular braids than knotless (mini balls or weave wefts were at the some of the roots especially the front) lacking a nice clean knotless start. (4) Stylist is praised for being so speedy. However speed should NEVER impact quality. Had attention to detail been present during my styling this concern would not be listed. (5) My hair had white residue all over which may simply be because my hair does not agree with the products she use. I bring this to attention, especially in individuals with diverse hair textures, because a diverse set of styling products supports diversity, equity, and inclusion for ALL who take a seat in a chair. I paid $220 for a service(medium knotless to midback) that seemed very rushed with little attention to detail. I asked for feedback from women who constantly get their hair braided and they all agreed that this style certainly does not look like someone with 20 years of experience completed the job. The stylist has a great heart. I just think she either had a bad day or may need a more updated technique. With the world continuing to evolve, investing time in continued education classes helps avoid obsolete or ineffective techniques. I did leave her a $30 tip because she was very personable and we had great conversation, but a tip does not excuse the concerns addressed above as these concerns were noticed after leaving the salon.

Came to get my long, healthy, natural 4c hair detangled, deep conditioned and dried using my own revair. Started around 12pm, ended just before 5pm and that’s because I had to tell her to stop working. I usually do my hair myself and don’t let anyone touch it (hence why it’s long and healthy), but I have a hand injury so I reluctantly had to ask for help. The initial detangle was decent as she was gentle, but she was unbelievably slow. I could’ve done it as gentle, yet faster, even with my injured hand. They had said it would cost $30 or $40 an hour to detangle (depending on how she felt), so it got me thinking whether she was being deliberately slow. The wash and deep condition was too hasty and I felt I still had conditioner in my hair when she washed it out. Then came time to revair. She had never used it before so long story short, she struggled. But that wasn’t even my issue. Even though I had asked her to wash my hair in sectioned big twists to prevent more tangling, my hair was tangled from the wash (she was scrubbing my hair like I have straight or curly hair) and she had to detangle again before revairing…she was extremely slow with the detangling once more. I mostly finger detangle myself, but she was using a detangling brush the whole time so I lost way more hair than I needed to smh. She’d done about 1/4 of my hair when I saw the time and thought aw hell no. I still had to get my hair braided, but at another salon because the first salon owner told me that the braider needed to go to the hospital (thankfully the other salon accepted a late same day booking for braids!). I was pretty fed up by now, so I told her to stop. They charged $140 for the unfinished job and said I didn’t need to tip lol. I had to finish the job myself with my injured hand at the other salon smh. ❗️UPDATE changed to 1 star from 2 (since the owner wants to spread lies)❗️: 1. Look up the definition of “gaslight” before you start throwing around words that don’t apply. I have no need to exaggerate. 2. Begged for an appointment? Lol is that what asking is nowadays? There are multiple options in the vicinity-you just happened to accept. 3. You make it seem like I was 30 mins late. My appointment was at 12pm…I signed in at 12:04pm, we started at 12:05pm- sue me. I brought a small hand luggage suitcase which included a revair, detangling brush and small tub of protein treatment. 4. “Tender headed dictator” is really laughable. Y’all pay attention- even if you speak respectfully, calmly and kindly while voicing your needs as a client who knows what her hair requires, there will still be problems. Typically, hairdressers want us to just shut up and accept whatever they do, and too many of us have done so. ALWAYS speak up for yourselves, no matter what, because it’s YOUR hair they’re playing with, not theirs. 5. I didn’t want the stylist to use a comb, but I accepted the detangling brush and she used it the whole time. As I mentioned, she was slow using the DETANGLING BRUSH. 6. Twisting to see the mirror? Is that a salon crime or something? And I never once twisted to see the mirror. If anything, I was trying to talk to her. I was googling about how much to PAY a stylist lol. I’m from the UK. We don’t tip. But thanks, Coco, for being a creep and invading my privacy while I’m on my phone smh. It’s the audacity for me. “Moving my head and telling her what to do” - to me, it’s all part of helping the stylist serve my hair the way I require. Never once was I aggressive, mean, forceful, or rude with it. 7. Coco definitely was kind and patient. I had no problem with her inability to use the revair. I had more of a problem with you staring at me and giving weird looks than anything she did. 8. You accepted my stitch braids request, but said last minute that the braider had to cancel because she had to go to the hospital. 9. Yes I did tell Coco to stop. I left with 1/4 of my hair dry at the back, the rest in wet big twists. If you read my words, I said I was fed up, not that I told her I was fed up. I think it went without saying. Ctd in photos.

Now my first experience was great and it was worth every penny. Now the second time I came I had to return and was waste my time and money. I like the way the owner went about redoing my hair, but it was worsts then when I came. If they could be consistent it would be great place. Very clean environment great place. Just not for me.

BLHC opened their doors and we've not since been anywhere else. We love this place and these people and, as a multiracial family, we're really grateful for their investment in our sons' lives.

I wasn't going to post a review but the more I thought about supporting black owned businesses and why I stopped supporting. The shop appears to be upscale. The owner is offensive she says degrading words to paying customers. You know that’s like a Diaper rash on your face; I had fever blister because I was sick. She offered to help. But then she cut me. Brittney was late both times 15-20mins. I asked the owner is 10:00am too early? Reply Well she lives south of downtown. Instead of her saying I apologize I can ensure she won’t be late anymore. Then she wants me to accommodate the stylist you can start coming at 11:00. Breana lash tech late, called me at 10:05a my appointment was at 10:30a didn’t leave a message. Owner says call her, Me: I don’t have time, have her call me. She didn’t. I text Breana set up appointment for 12. I show up.end up getting reprimanded (you don’t call her. You call the shop as she is tapping on the phone). Rude as heck she should have talked with her employee. I waited an hour and 20mins for a 15 min service had to leave and come back She gave Bre a client say she was here and on the books her service made more than my lash service. She said loudly I would have to wait .The owner offered to pay if I returned before 4. She did. I waited because Bre did a great job the set.. not so good this set right lashes fell off woke up to an entire row of lashes came off left eye still intact. She need to turn that shop into the beauty school she desires. I paid $130 for a basic sew-in I have Brittney a nice tip. I was good until I had to go back to get another track sew in. It is loose it was 1/25. It hasn’t been 30days yet . Subpar services at Professional Prices are they Professionals? I read all of the reviews and you are the common denominator. Since you Brag on your Hospital Admission abilities and your $180,000 yearly. Apply those skills to your business. Rather than being obnoxious. And stop cutting people because they are exposing the truth. Mentor those young people and be respectful to them. Peace to you. Be careful how you respond. Others see your come back.

Been coming to this salon for months now and enjoy the warm environment from the moment I walk in the door. I'm always taken care of immediately and leave with the hairstyle and service I expected to receive (even surpassing my expectations). And if I don't particularly like a style or was expecting something different? They have absolutely no problem changing it until I am happy with it. Also love coming to the same stylist every time, Britney, every time as she knows my hair well and goes out of her way to use products specifically designed for my hair/scalp type. Britney has also come in ahead of her scheduled shift to accommodate my schedule and even provides recommendations on how to care for my hair when I'm not in the salon. This is 100% my go-to salon!

I have been to this location on 2 different occasions. The first stylist was Nikki. Nikki did a braided bob and it was perfect. Exactly as I shown her in the reference picture and end results were 10/10 , perfection. She was very kind, professional and made sure I was happy with each step being taken. I love her. I didn’t remember her name because it had been about a year prior so I wasn’t even sure she was still at the location but she was. I didn’t find this out until I had made my second appt. My second appt was with another beautiful soul and talented stylist named Berthey” I believe” or Britney . I’m upset because it’s late and I can’t remember her name but this is the only other name on the business card I picked up.. My apologies. Nevertheless… She as well was very professional, honest when it came to style options and pricing. I got lemonade braids with a blue peekaboo and she made it absolutely beautiful, even tho I wasn’t 100% sure if she could pull off the vision I had in my head and the reference pictures I showed her. Now I will be honest, it did take a bit longer than expected by of-course I wanted butt length braids so the longer the wait was a given. It wasn’t her fault. I thoroughly enjoyed the ambience, friendliness and respectability all employees had . It’s so hard to find a salon that that demonstrate these qualities now a days. Speaking of other employees. The shampoo lady was thorough and even when I asked if she could go over a certain section one more time, I was NOT met with an attitude nor a rush job. I was given the accommodations of going back over 1 spot and she even wen t with me to find my last minute addition of the peek a boo at the neighborhood hair supply store and helped me find the perfect color. This was Not part of her job, she did this out of the kindness of her heart which goes to show how beautiful these stylist are inside and out. I would and will recommend this salon to my friends and family. The prices may be a little steep but you pay for what you get. I myself being a licensed cosmologist, im very aware of this fact , so I had NO problem paying the extra because I got what money can’t buy now a days.. Awesome customer service and a name that lives up to its status!! Thank you All .. I will be back and hopefully I can get a booking, because I know sooner than later this place is going to be stacked with a multitude of clientele. Not sure about their other services, but as far as locs are concerned... this is not the place to go to. In February of 2023 I needed my starter locs retwisted and chose this business mostly because it seemed to have a more upscale and professional feel. I scheduled my appointment online days in advance (Monday Feb 13th), but when I arrived I was told that the loctician was out of town and that another stylist would be completing my service.This I would have liked to known ahead of time due to the type of service that I was having completed as it is permanent for me and bot to be taken lightly or done on a whim. The stylist was still in bed when I arrived to my appointment and had to be woken up. The atmosphere was really nice and pleasant. The shop was clean, spacious, and inviting. I ended up waiting atleast 45min for my stylist to arrive which i didn't get bent out of shape over, bc I took a strong liking to the owner and her energy... we had good conversation which i thoroughly enjoyed. After the stylist had arrived, I had to then wait for her and the owner to run to the beauty supply store next door to purchase the products needed to do my hair. I remained patient. Once the stylist started on my head I began to see signs that she wasn't that experienced due to having to continuously consult with the owner for guidance (at this point I should have backed out), but I decided to give her a chance (big mistake). Fast forward to April and I'm noticing that the locs in the back of my head mostly and a few locs throughout my head were way larger than others. So much so that they didn't even loc like they belonged on the same head. Locs that should have been made into 3 were made into one. Im not a nit picky person at all. Some parts of my hair began to fall out due to the stress placed on the roots as a result of being forced so far out of the natural positioning of the strands for so long. I felt that the stylist got lazy and started joining locs together that shouldn't have been. My grid is now a complete mess. Creating a proper grid is very important when starting healthy locs and is the basics knowledge to properly doing simple braids or twists so the fact that this was done improperly says to me that the experience level of the stylist was next to zero. I decided to wait it out to see if things got better as they grew more. By July the state of my hair was worse and my edges nearly gone. I didn't want to have to write a bad review on such a beautiful black owned business, so I opted to reach out to the company via email instead to share my experience and dissatisfaction. Initially, she wanted the same stylist to "fix her mistakes". That wasn't happening (she'd caused me to lose enough hair already). If I wanted to be practiced on, I'd have gone to a beauty school to have the service done not to mention locs are meant to be permanent... she had her 1 chance on my head. I explained that I only wanted an experienced loctician. I was asked to provide some dates of availability to which I replied that I was willing to be flexible to ensure that the most experienced stylist would be available and so that the stylist didn't feel rushed while doing my head. I was willing to be flexible to make it as easy as possible for them to ensure it was done RIGHT this time around. I was told that I would hear from someone soon (over a month ago) and never heard from them again. I sent an inquiry via email with no response. I feel I'd given them more than enough time to fix their mistake and decided to move forward with leaving my review. Beware of stylist that don't care about the health of your hair...there are plenty out here that don't which is why I always do my own. DO YOUR RESEARCH! Im now working on trying to fix the mess that's on my head a little at a time on my own, bc this experience has traumatized me in a sense that I can't bring myself to allow someone else to touch my hair. This was the first time in atleast 10 years that I decided to trust someone with my hair and have regretted it ever since.

They wait time is horrible and they stop heads to start another one instead of finishing the head they do.
