I recently got my starter locs done with Malaika. She is nothing short of kind. She listened to what I wanted ( although I was not quite sure) she took her time and I walked out a new woman! I love my starter locs I'm so angry I didn't go to her sooner when one of her clients suggested years ago. Thank you Malaika for making this new journey something to look forward to!

I called BLC and spoke to a stylist around 2:00 pm for a walk-in retwist… I have to take passport photos to renew my passport and my hairs a mess and I’m leaving for DC from NC in the dead of night. She said she could fit me in around 7:30. I call about 3 times at 7:40, on my way there and nobody answers the phone. Some random guy tells me she can’t get to me and I don’t even get the chance to speak with the stylist herself. Mind you it’s like 7:45 and the doors are locked although the site says they close at 9. Horrible experience.

Malaika is always amazing. She keeps my dreads healthy and growing. The shop has an Afrocentric store in the front area. Wonderful merchandise. The juice bar is an added bonus and they have sea moss!!! Each service is worth the trip separately. The three is an amazing bonus!!!

Even though it was short notice Ms. Kashaka was able to get my hair twisted nice and the barber on duty Mr. Chris was able to line me up... Two thumbs up 👍👍 loved the service

I was referred to the shop by a friend of mine. I loved the work and quality of the styles i seen so i decided to start my lock journey. I called Saturday morning to get an appointment. I was told pricing and that she was busy with a client and would give me a call back. After waiting most of the day and not hearing back i give them a call back and was able to get a 6am appointment on monday as an accommodation being that i needed to be done by 11. Well here it is monday at 6:54am and no one has showed up yet. I have called multiple times and mailbox is full. I am extremely disappointed and inconvenience by the whole experience. Update: i did speak with someone and was made aware of the miscommunication. Looking forward to giving a second chance with a better experience

Love it. Always a warm welcome. A good cross selection of books, jewelry, crystals, incense, art etc etc etc. I'll go for the juice bar and leave out with a little more than I intended...

Nice cozy spot. Easy to get to. I’ll be back. Nice gift ideas and cute trinkets everywhere. I was there for esthetic reasons! But I will be back to try some of the salons other great features

Was really awesome, got my head shaved and it looked good. Had a really chill atmosphere and Chris was nice. 10/10 would recommend.
