Wonderful higher end Mexican food with unbelievable presentation. Arizona casual and the service was outstanding! Just across from the Boulders Hotel & Spa so can walk or take shuttle to. Enjoy the atmosphere and great food!

RATS IN THE RAFTERS! 1 week before Xmas we booked a 2 room Exec suite (prem room). The Boulders is over 40yrs old & it shows. Minimal maintenance shows everywhere. Finally, when we ckd into our suite, there was a strange smell. We called maintenance, “we’ll deal with it tomorrow “ (like I said, minimal everything). That night, we saw, heard & smelled rats scrambling around in the ceiling rafters! This was a $1,200/night suite. Shocking! We immediately went to ck out the next morning. The day manager was very snarky, offered no explanation. Actually seemed angry we were checking out early. No apology. No credit. Never again. (As Gold member, I’m now leery of future Hilton stays).

Superior meeting service, space, and experience. As a planner, I highly recommend working with this resort for your needs. This is the smoothest of any event I have planned. Our company was celebrating it's 20th anniversary, as well as committee, and annual shareholder meetings for other programs. It felt like staying in a nature reserve. Everymorning I had a family of quails on my patio, in the daytime I would see hummingbirds, at night I could hear an owl. I think every member of our meeting, and their partners joining for a retreat, had a unique and positive experience. We had an incident in which a water main broke, causing some casitas to have no water on the morning of our departure day. I don't think that is preventable. The only thing lacking was spreading the communication that the Spa had opened early to shower and dress in as a solution. Anything that was needed, I just responded to the welcome text sent upon check-in. At night it's dimly lit, but the bellmen were quick and happy to deliver ice, take guest back and forth to the Lodge, and pick up one of our groups of 40 after a night at the Spotted Donkey. Working with ALL departments was satisfactory in my experience. We were there the first week of December, and I am still receiving emails 5 wesks later from attendees expressing how happy they were with the resort, athletic, and spa services..Plus it was a stress-free event for me. Catering and setup was always on point. So, if you are hosting a group for meetings or retreat activities, or are just looking to be off in the nature - I highly recommend.

The place is first class! The room is a little cold. The service is disappointing to be honest.

Beautiful grounds, well trained front desk staff. Soft goods in rooms, bath mats, towels, sheets, - are second rate, old, and frayed. There is a disconnect between the physical maintenance and the cleaning crew. Very disappointing. The kitchen had no ability to accomodate a liquid diet - bullion, consume, jello. They are proximate to Mayo and not addressing the needs of their guests who are also patients.||All parking is on the perimiter and requires a hike from the car. The signage is not well lit to allow you to navigate to your room in the dark.

Beautiful location. Grounds are meticulously maintained. Room furnishings are dated, and frayed. Towels were stiff and no fabric softener had been used. Bath mat frayed. First night, no hot water and the response from person on call was to run the water for another 10 minutes and they would send someone later. Not an acceptable response in a hotel that claims to be 4 star. No ability to accomodate a restricted diet that required liquids, jello and consume. Dissapointing.

Gorgeous resort. The staff were wonderful and so accommodating. Beautiful nature trail and short hike to the top of the boulders on resort property. Rooms are nice and beds were comfy! Gym was fantastic!

I hate to do this, but it has to be shared. What a terribly run facility. First of all, the room is not maintained. The screens on the sliding door were not attached- just laying against the outside wall! There was no trash can in the bathroom- what the heck? The hot water takes about five minutes to get warm- why? In the desert, the water is the resource that's needed to be saved. Why not install on demand systems into each room? It would be an investment that's paid off within a year, let alone the water savings alone. The bathrooms have paper thin walls, and so don't expect any privacy. The toilet seat is not even a soft close! There are people standing around, and yet none of these minor repairs are done. Those soft close toilet seats cost about $20!!! That one breakfast and it's paid for. The restaurant is sparse and has bad, and expensive, breakfast selections. Who puts sweet potatoes inside a breakfast burrito? I just can't figure out how this place deems itself a resort.

We arrived at 2 am but the entrance was very captivating. We have a casita with a phenomenal view, and very spacious. Very quiet and quaint. Just a bit disappointed with the housekeeping, need a bit more detail when cleaning the rooms.

Although we (large group) went between Christmas and New Years when it was booked, the resort did not feel crowded. I went with no set expectations because I am not familiar with the Hilton brand. The resort, service, housekeeping, landscaping, cuisine (especially), and atmosphere exceeded my expectations. My only critique is the pool area. Padded cushions on the pool chairs would really elevate the look and experience.

Awesome experience all around.

Beautiful property and settings but rooms/casitas dated and in some need for repair and maintenance. Very excellent staff.

Beautiful property. Highly impressed with this resort style hotel. Hotel has small individual Casita's to stay. Some are facing beautiful golf course and red rock mountains. Unfortunately we did not get a casita with a view neither the backyard was having a great view. Beds are too small and not very comfortable, it was too soft for our taste. Property has many restaurants. We ate one of the best Mexican food in this hotel. Mexican restaurant name on the property is Spotted Donkey Cantina. They have one of best Fajita's and Enchilada in veg version. There is a beautiful 1.5 miles walk around the hotel and it is worth it. It has heated pool, Sauna, SPA, Tennis court and a golf course to indulge in all day activity. SPA prices are good not too expensive. They provide wood logs to keep yourself warm and they still they have a good AC and a heater if one prefers. The staff is very kind and friendly. Especially the guys working outside and helping guests to move from one place to another in a golf cart. They were super friendly and enjoyed talking to them. Views from this hotel is just out of the world. Just to experience this hotel I would consider coming back next time. Hopefully I get a better casita with better views next time around. The water faucets in bathroom needs to be replaced as it was leaking water and not easy to fully shut off water. Casita's have rough stone flooring throughout even in the bathroom. So would recommend to have a slippers to walk. I would definitely recommend every one to go and stay in this hotel for 2 nights at least and enjoy all relaxing activities with great view, especially during November and December timeframe.

Friendly, quiet, clean, courteous. I've stayed here twice now. And I don't understand some of the negative reviews - Nit picky snobs. Spotted Donkey has great imaginative Mexican dishes. Eight minute drive to Carefree which has way better food and shops than north Scottsdale.

I have been WOWed. The whole compound is nestled in an area with boulders and mountains. It makes you feel you are separated from the day to day of regular life. A golf cart takes you to your villa. These villas are very unique, compared to the hotels i stay in. Lots of privacy, a few restaurants to choose from. The food and service were good. Wish we stayed another day to explore property. loved it!

I have never left a negative review of a hotel until now. So disappointed isn’t strong enough words. The towels should never have been put out for public use, the bathroom was dirty, the hot water was sporadic, the locks are broken, the service at the restaurant was sub par -after two times we went off site. The cleaning crews were so loud and It is obvious there is a complete lack of care. We were looking for a quiet relaxing retreat and it was anything but. The location is second to none and we enjoyed the sunsets.

Only stayed a night but the place was nice. I thought the rooms were nice, didn't feel dated to me, it is the southwest afterall. To get around you can walk the walkways or call the bell desk for someone to come pick you up by golf cart. You have to call to place a room service order. Basically if looking for a stay where you don't have to talk to anyone, this isn't it 🤣 The fireplace logs are eco friendly, basically just waxed compressed cardboard. The room service was quick and the food was tasty. Blue moon was of course, great as well. Also don't do what I did and try to get in through the back exit, which has a security guard post next to it. That's not the main entrance and google maps will take you to the back exit.

Sarah K was the most fantastic server! She was extremely accommodating and kind. The food was delicious and the customer service was unbeatable. We managed to get the sweetest server! Will be coming again.

So sad to see what has become of this once wonderful resort. So much deferred maintenance, so many unhappy employees. We’ve come here for more than 20 years..never again

This was my second time at this location. Very nice.

Very poor customer service, we booked a room for 3 with a roll away bed, when we got there they said we can't give you a roll away with two beds, had to sleep on the floor after speaking with the manager.

We had a wonderful time at the Boulders Resort in Scottsdale/Carefree! From the beautifully appointed casitas, the scenic location, and the warm hospitality, we recommend the Boulders for a getaway! I wanted to highlight the Front Office Manager Shirley for going above and beyond in taking care of us during this stay! We are staying here for my wife's birthday and the staff really made this a memorable experience for us!

I first, the upside is that the resort is located in a very nice area of Scottsdale. The grounds are absolutely beautiful. Upon arrival the valet is easy and accommodating. However, the lobby is uninspiring, the staff working at the front desk were in street clothes that looked like they bought them from target. The bar adjacent to the lobby at first glance is impressive and comfortable. The main pool off the lobby is very underwhelming. There’s no shade, and it doesn’t look anything like in the pictures on the webpage. If you’re looking for an experience with family time in a pool, this is not the place to go. We stayed in the private condominiums. The condominiums were actually quite nice and well appointed. However, they are significant distance away from the main lobby. Way too far to walk In order to make the trek, the resort shuttle is an old dilapidated van that looks like it belongs to the cleaning crew. Frankly, it was embarrassing to be seen in it. Overall, we were quite disappointed in the resort. For the price I would highly recommend going to a Ritz Carlton, or Four Seasons.

Location is too far, if we want to visit any place it is too far. Also there is not much to do in the resort. Good for golfers. Nothing to do with the family and kids.

Lodging ranging from hotel suites up through 2 and 3 bedroom homes. I find the setting very serene, totally relaxing. Sunsets are awesome. And The Boulders resort operation is outstanding.

This is a curious example of a resort that gets the big things right, and all the little things wrong. On the plus side, the desert surroundings are stunning, and the landscaping and architecture are wonderful. It's a very very pleasant place to be. There are at least two swimming pools, and a first rate desert golf course. Also there are beautifully maintained tennis and pickleball courts. That's the big stuff. On the downside, there is a pervasive cheapness about the accommodations. We stayed in a villa, yet many things were broken or weird. For example, they decided to go with very cheap, low quality bathroom soap, actually the worst I've seen in a hotel in a long time. One of the pots in the kitchen was missing a handle. The light in the master bathroom toilet pulsed like a Disco strobe. The other lights in the master bath were mismatched or broken. The paper towels and dish soap in the kitchen are low quality. I am really shocked because what could be a first rate resort is brought down by cost cutting and cheap maintenance. Why? I doubt it even makes business sense. The service was mixed, with the golf and poolside staff sometimes being unhelpful or rude. Compared to high end resorts, the staff is not trained.

This summer, we had a surprising one-night staycation. We actually went for evening drinks at their new speakeasy, The Madam. We decided to book a room for the night after having a great time with bartender Kadek. It was early July and slow time in Arizona, so we could choose which floor and view we wanted for a great price. Although it was a short stay we enjoyed the peace and quiet, the golf course sunrise views, a fresh coffee while reading in the pool, and the lovely evening prior in the speakeasy. We didn't have a chance to eat in the onsite restaurant but have heard

We love this off the beaten path hotel.
