I have been wanting to start my dread journey for long time now. I am glad I chose Brenda to be a part of it. She is very kind and caring and easy to talk to. She is very experienced and knowledgeable and always attentive whenever I have question or concerns any time of the day. Her prices are reasonable and affordable when you trying to do dreads on a budget. I highly recommend Brenda for anyone trying to start their dread journey, she will welcome you with a kind smile and a warm heart. Bless her heart.

Great service and prices. It’s a cozy little shop with just one service chair. They even give you a bunch of snacks while getting your hair done! I will be returning.

Brenda is hands down the best loctician ever! She is so much fun to talk to, she knows what she’s doing, and I always get tons of compliments from people in public! She’s an awesome therapist and a great friend if you need one! (I colored my own locs)

I went into Brenda's salon nearly 3 weeks ago, and I have NOTHING but great things to say about her and her service. Here's what I have to say about the experience. ❤️ First of all, she has a TON of snacks and drinks to choose from, so it was never an issue if I got a bit hungry. I didn't need to order food or anything, but if you need something really hardy you might want to. I do fine of lots of snacks. Second of all, she's wonderful to talk to. Very down to earth and attentive, and we talked the entire time even though I was SURE I'd need to break out my book. I never did. She's had quite the interesting life and we had quite a lot in common. Third of all, she is a FANTASTIC LOCTICIAN!!! My hair turned out looking better than I had ever dreamed it would. I have a ton of very fine hair, and this absolute champ of a woman worked on it for FIFTEEN hours, and not because she's slow either. Each loc, (which was loc'ing my own shoulder-length hair and then attaching extentions), took around 10 minutes. All in all, her prices are extremely reasonable andI would recommend her to anyone who wants to get dreadlocks, especially if you have straight hair because it can be hard for us to find places that will do it.

Well I can say that I cut my locks and she reattached my locks and it looked like I never even cut my hair and she did such an excellent job to where I'm using her as my hairstyles from here on out coming from Southern Cal and I was very skeptical about it but she proved me completely wrong so now it's like it's hard for me to get an appointment with her lol. She definitely knows what she's doing so don't let her looks fool you the woman got some mad skills I can promise you that much.

I spent years trying to find a great experience for my first loc journey, unfortunately I never found it. Recently I was looking to start my loc journey over again and that's when I found Brenda!! She's extremely knowledgeable and easy to talk with. She's very patient and understanding. Most importantly she knows how personal the loc journey is and listens to what you want while accommodating to the best of her ability. She is passionate about what she does and her technique is amazing, which gives you a fresh, neat & clean look with ZERO products or rubber bands!! I'm now a life-long customer so take it from me, you won't find this level of quality at these prices anywhere else.

After months of searching I found Brenda's Knotty Dreads and knew it was the right place for me to start my dread journey. Their site was welcoming and made me feel comfortable. Thomas was my logician and he was amazing. Just super welcoming, friendly, helped answer all of my questions and my hair came out looking great. Amazing experience through and through. Amazing work and even more amazing service and environment. Genevieve was my loctician and is incredibly sweet and skilled with all hair types. She happily answered all of my questions leading up to the appointment. We took roughly 15 hours to complete my locs with extensions and the process was quite relaxing. Genevieve and Thomas offer such a comfortable and welcoming environment, so glad I found this shop!

Had an amazing experience with these lovely folx. Genevive went out of her way to come in a few hours early for me (my work schedule’s a little wonky) and she talked me through the process, answering any and all questions openly and in an engaged, friendly manner. I felt like we were just two friends catching up while she worked her magic on my strands, which she made quick work of, and I am beyond thrilled with the outcome. Highly highly highly recommend.

I have nothing but overwhelmingly positive things to say about Brenda's. My Loctician is Genevieve is she is such a gem. She is super flexible and helps me with my dreadlocks in ways that are super personal to me. From maintaining my dreadlocks in the way that I request, to making and attaching extensions, adding beads and wraps-Genevieve does it ALL! The prices don't get better than here. It has been the best salon experience I have had in regards to dreadlocks. These Locticians do it all, its a one stop shop. I will miss them when I leave PDX!

I would recommend this place to anyone looking for dreadlock care. Brenda's is one of the few places you can go to get real, natural, no chemical, no gel dreadlocks for any hair texture and she does maintenance too. Nice clean shop, best prices anywhere. Always a fun visit and I look like a new man when I leave.

Let me start off with…WOW! Incredible service and integrity with Brenda and James! Very happy with how they turned out! I spent 7 hours on my birthday 🥳 getting my hair dreaded. It was worth it. James was very professional and kind. This place knows their stuff!! I will recommend them to everyone if the ask. Thank you James for the wonderful new look I will be rocking for years to come! Let put it this way... Brenda's technique will make your dreads look mature since day one. My hair is not straight but also it does not curl, it have that weird spring texture that can't hold a comb twist but it will get a nice rounded afro. I actually met Brenda after seeing a person at work with nice dreads and I ask him who made them, at that time my dreads were box braids that were interlocked at the base and I hated them. After her first service, I knew who will be maintaining my dreads and ever since she is the to go person in Portland area. So, if you are looking to skip multiple steps in your dread journey, don't think about it and look for Brenda's services!

My locs were reconstructed by Genevieve and she did an amazing job! She was able to separate my extremely matted locs and then went over them with the crochet method making them look unrecognizable from what I walked in with. The shop has a super friendly atmosphere and the work seemed to go by quickly due to the great conversation from the loctians in the shop. I set my next appointment before walking out the door!

Having had dreads for 14 years now, Brenda was the best loctician I have ever had do maintenance on my dreads. She has a nice clean shop, is super pleasant and personable. Not only is she fast with a fair price, she was also not “heavy handed” and I was grateful that my experience was pain free. The best part of all is that the work she did is holding and two months later my dreads still look fresh and tight..that is rare for sure! Thanks sista! See you next time I fly to da mainland! I highly recommend Brenda for your dreadlock maintenance! She is very experienced and knowledgeable and she is EXTREMELY good at what she does! I can assure you that you won’t find a better professional to maintain your dreadlocks in the Portland area. I went in to have crochet maintenance. Genevieve did a great job cleaning up my locs and tightening my roots. The space is small but welcoming with a chill vibe. They offer drinks and snacks which is a nice touch. There is also an assortment of cute accessories to purchase to add to your locs. I bought a few 🦋. The appointment took longer than I expected but I’m very happy with the finished look.

I’ve been going to Brenda to help me start and maintain my straight hair locs for three years now. She’s incredibly hard working and still manages to charge a reasonable rate. I would highly recommend making an appt with Brenda and her team.
