I had the absolute BEST beard trim from Brett James at Brett James Salon! I highly recommend visiting his salon whether you are visiting Pittsburgh or if you live in the area. It was a wonderful experience.

Having worked a block away from the salon for 15 years I finally gave it a try. I'm trying to not simply shave my head and let it grow out looking like a clown anymore. Dane gave me literally, the best haircut I've ever had. He used tools I've never seen before. Sprays that smelled amazing and required explanation as to their purpose and benefits. I pet Biscuit the dog. I had an amazing shampoo experience which is the first time I've ever said that so.... The decor is amazing, edgy and inviting. I will become a regular now and I highly recommend Brett James Salon for fantastic men's haircuts. Win!

I had a very disappointing experience getting an updo for my wedding. Maybe their other services are better, but they are inexperienced with styling hair. I asked for a messy chignon, with an inspiration photo (attached to this review), and got something completely different. Also asked for a hidden dutch braid, to secure a hair comb, and was told "Yeah I don't braid". The updo turned out flat, no texture, and was like a cylinder on the back of my head that you could completely see through. Sadly I don't have a picture of the cylinder because since it was so bad, I had to take it out and my friends redid it at the hotel. I did my best to draw what it looked like. He also took an hour and a half to do it, because he started over like 3 times. I tried doing the hairstyle myself at home and it came out so much better, I should've just saved myself the money...

We were traveling to Pittsburgh for a wedding and called many salons, walking distance from the Westin, all places that I called were already booked for that Saturday, day of the wedding. Bret said he was booked but said he would call me back if he could get a stylist to come in. I pretty much wasn’t expecting a call back, but he called me back saying a stylist would come in to do my daughter and my hair. Dane was fabulous, our hair looked amazing, we had many compliments! The shop is very cool, loved the atmosphere, very “Boujee”, we loved it! And the price for was very reasonable, I would definitely go back there if I’m back In Pittsburgh.

Ive been a client for over 10 yrs and a friend for 25yrs. Brett James loves to create beautiful hair. If youre in need of great color, Brett and his team will deliver. And if youre a blonde, youre particularly lucky as this is one of his specialties. Brett is a precision cutter and I highly recommend booking him for your first cut. His team listens to what youre looking for and you'll leave with super shiny, healthy looking locks!

Great haircut, great atmosphere and the staff is super friendly. I’ve been around most salons in downtown but this is probably the best shop around. Highly recomended.

Wanted my hair cut and colored while out of town, and decided on Brett James after checking the reviews. The reviews hold up; everyone here is friendly and fun, the space is welcoming and comfortable. Josh was awesome, and I had a blast for the whole time. Any time I'm in Pittsburgh, I won't be wasting my time going anywhere else.
