Kate at Last Satellite has been my go-to hair person for about 5-6 years. She is excellent at taking the style I have in mind and turning it into a reality that’s flattering to my overall features. Update: Still 5 out 5 stars for Kate and Last Satellite Salon. Professional. Knowledgeable. Dependable. Kate takes the time to listen to my “hair goals” and has consistently given me a hairstyle/haircut that works for my hair and my lifestyle. She recently did my hair for my wedding (along with my bridesmaids) and it was everything that I visioned it to be! *First picture is what I asked for. Second is the trial. Third was the day of. It took me a long time to find someone like Kate in Austin. She is great at color and cuts! I have fine hair and she understands the complexity of it. Anything I want to try she’s all for it. She cares and is sincere, she’s become a good friend.

Top notch expertise cutting unruly, thick hair and my friends thin hair 2. Kate ensures you have her full attention by: not answering the phone, scheduling adequate time between clients, and having only one stylist at a time working in the salon. 3. Honestly, thank goodness my previous stylist left town because otherwise I’d never been introduced to Kate. I’m not really a talker, but it never feels awkward (which I’ve totally experienced elsewhere). Great location with great parking, but the best part is the stellar haircut from Kate. She works with my vision to give me something I love but can also style and maintain at home. I’d give Kate and Last Satellite 10 stars if I could!

I am new to Austin and was looking for a salon and stylist that I could trust with my curly hair. I feel so lucky that I found Kate at Last Satellite Salon! She is meticulous with the color and cut and so flexible with scheduling. Leaving my former stylist after 17 years was a little scary, but I'm very happy with the services I've received from Kate! I have gone to Kate twice and she did an amazing job both times. I have fine hair and she gave me exactly the bob look I was going for, and my highlights were perfectly placed. She was methodical yet worked quickly. The space is clean and quiet and perfect for introverts. I'd definitely recommend Kate + Last Satellite! Wish I had known her for wedding + event hair and makeup!

I’ve gotten a lot of haircuts at nice salons around town, but my visit to Last Satellite a few weeks ago was the first time I got exactly what I was looking for to freshen up my thick, wavy, unruly hair. Kate really listened to me and had some great suggestions. I’m so happy with the results and wish I had come here sooner!

Kate has been working with for many years now. She has seen me with bangs, red hair, and the crazy curly locks I have. After all of that I still have healthy hair :) She versed in her skills and treats my hair with care. I now go regularly for highlights, tone, and haircut. Women owned and local! Such a long overdue review, omg. I moved to Austin just over 1 year ago, and found Meghan soon after. Lucky me! She turned the mop I had into an actual style, and offered suggestions based on my routine. She has also taught me how to take better care of my hair, and I so look forward to my appointments with her! Recently I got the itch for long hair, and began researching extensions as I’d never done them before. I reached out to Kate to get the process started, and she has also been a dream. I mentioned I had a vacation coming up (less than 1 week from the consultation) and knowing it was a long shot, asked if there was any way she could squeak me in. And she made it happen. And THEN I needed a little more blending done the next day after the curls fell, and Kate met me a second time at the salon on a Saturday evening to make sure I was happy with the result before I left Sunday AM. She was incredibly thorough throughout the application and styling process, and provided ample after care instructions. I can not say enough good things about the girls at Last Satellite Salon. I appreciate them both so much. Do yourself a favor and pay them a visit - They are the best!

I love Last Satellite! Kate has been cutting my hair for years and always does a great job. Unlike other salons, LS has a really chill vibe so I can relax and don't have to yell over a bunch of people and hair dryers.

Haircut by : Sara Sweeten After being in Austin for a long time, and eliminating hair dresser over time (trial & error) I have finally found Sara!! She is the one who understood what I was looking for,when it comes to my curls! She gave me such a beautiful haircut,my curls are happy healthy and have their bounce back! I have never loved my short hair curls so much! She understands curls,also it's a dry cut,which is the absolute correct way to cut curls. Location is by the 704 on S Lamar ,it's easy to get in and out. The salon is so simple and perfect. Its cosy and comforting. It's a good price for an awesome haircut.

I am not the kind of person who has a regular stylist, until I met Kate. Kate not only has the most badass name of all time, Kate Leatherwood, but she cuts hair in a way that FINALLY made me understand what a good haircut can do. I have coarse curly hair that I thought was hopeless, but now it curls instead of frizzes and it's wild ways are no more. She also does my highlights and color and I can't rave enough about the natural looking results. The salon itself is a little gem on south Lamar. Small enough to feel cozy and swank enough to feel like a treat. I have been going here twice a month for well over a year and have only had top notch service and results!

I decided to go with Last Satellite for my wedding day hair and makeup due to their excellent reviews, professional website, convenient location, and reasonable pricing. I booked the appointment with Kate. She was very responsive and professional. Unfortunately, there was a little bit of miscommunication. Kate scheduled each bridesmaid for individual appointment times, with me being last. When I had a complimentary consultation with Sara and Yona, the hair and makeup artists, one week before the wedding, they explained that it would be best for me and ALL the bridesmaids to come together and stay the entire morning / afternoon. This way, there was no issue with anyone running late or one bridesmaid being finished quickly, but Sara and Yona having to just sit and wait for the next bridesmaid to arrive. They also wanted me in the middle slot, not at the end. Also, Yona did last minute touch ups and lipstick on everyone right before we left. There were 4 bridesmaids and myself. We arrived at 9am and were out the door at about 2:30pm. We were allowed to bring food and drink. The day went by very quickly. I had never done airbrush makeup before, but Yona did an excellent job of giving everyone a natural look. The eyelashes she used on everyone were also very natural looking. She even provided a small vial to each of us, so we could touch-up our lipstick later in the day. Sara did both up-do's and down beautifully. She listened to our requests and executed perfectly. She even did a last minute braid and bun for our junior bridesmaid. They were both so kind and accommodating. I'll be sure to share professional photos when they arrive. Thank you, Sara and Yona!

Sara Sweeten is the best hair stylist I've ever had. I love how my curls just fall in the right place. I am all about effortless style and natural look. I don't need to blow dry it or do anything special to make it look good. Also love the brown color she uses, it looks vibrant and keeps my hair looking healthy. She totally gets what I want, but advises what works best with my hair and face. I feel so good about my hair. She is super genuine and great to be around. The salon has a good vibe and has free parking.

Sara is amazing! I was referred by a friend and I’m extremely glad I booked with her. She was extremely thorough. I was going from a very light blonde to a darker brown. She took all the necessary steps to deposit color in first before depositing the brown to make sure it would adhere and turn out the true color. I was very impressed, she nailed it! The cut was perfect as well. There is now a lot of body to my hair, it doesn’t just look flat! I was mainly concerned about the thickness of my ends when it’s freshly cut. Sara fully listened to my concerns and focused on making sure my ends were not bulky. Looking forward to booking again!
