Annie's knowledge and creative vision for color is unmatched - I actually found out about their salon while in the market for a new stylist, so I picked someone who had the prettiest hair out of anyone I knew where they went. Annie is an absolute expert in blonde, and my hair continues to look natural even when I have growth. Andy's expertise in how hair texture, hair growth and facial structure lends a unique ability to curate a hair style that is perfect for you. I went to Andy a few months ago to do a dramatic cut - long hair to above the shoulder bob, and he absolutely crushed it! I'm so glad to have found Annie and Andy; they make me prettier 🥹🥰 (And they're both so stylish!)

I didn't realize what a good haircut could be until getting my haircut by Andy at Cakes. His attention to detail and thoughtful suggestions made it an unparalleled experience. Not to mention a great playlist. I can't recommend Cakes enough!

Andy and Annie at CAKES are THE BEST. Every two months, I get my hair tinted by Annie - she does a great job of hiding those greys. Andy, with his hair cutting skills, miraculously makes my thick curly hair look great. To boot, they are both engaging, fun, and nice. Never getting my hair done anywhere else.

She not only nails my bronde color every time, but she’s also made my hair so much healthier while still keeping the color vibrant. I can’t say enough great things about Annie and her salon! For the past 3 years, Annie has been my go-to for the most stunning blonde color, and she truly works magic. The way she highlights my hair is so natural and seamless that I only need a touch-up every 12 weeks—it’s amazing how effortlessly it grows out. Plus, my hair has never been healthier or grown faster! Even after moving to Albuquerque, I still make the trip back just to have Annie work her magic. She has a wonderful eye for color, and our conversations are always a highlight of my day. She has the best book and show recommendations, making each visit fun and engaging. Annie is super friendly and down-to-earth, and it’s clear she really cares about her clients. Recently, I had the pleasure of getting a cut from Andy, and it was just as incredible. He customized the style to suit my face, including a beautiful job on my bangs, and brought out the best in my hair. He’s not only talented but also so friendly and easy to chat with. I can’t recommend Annie and Andy enough—they are a fantastic team, and I always leave their salon feeling refreshed and confident. I have tried all of the best salons in Austin and always switch because my color ends up getting brassy or not lasting and yet I pay $$$. Annie & Andy are leaps above any stylists in Austin. My color lasts forever and I love my cuts with Andy.

Annie is a champion of blondes. I was so glad to find her after moving to Austin— her sensibility is unmatched here. She is incredibly skilled, charismatic, and she and Andy have created a comfy space in East Austin of which I am a regular and always look forward to going back. Highly recommend! Also, I aspire for Andy to cut my hair soon. You can just tell he’s good.

I absolutely love this salon! It is the cutest little space that feels like a mini-retreat. I arrive and park with no problem, go in and get pampered, then leave absolutely loving my locks. Cut, color, curl—Cakes is the best! 😍

I flew from California for this hair!!! Annie is the absolute best! She used to do my color in California and I just have never found anyone as good. I had let my color go a bit during the pandemic and I almost cried when she turned me around and she had done such a beautiful job rebuilding the color, making it look lively and natural and going thru boxes of foil I swear! The environment is peaceful and lovely and she’s really able to take her time to do such beautiful work. I will go there whenever I can… even from California!!!

I love Annie and Andy! They are the best in town- no exaggeration. Since I moved to Austin I couldn’t find anyone to get my hair as blonde as I liked it- she gives me the perfect blonde every time (I have very dark Roots) and it’s so healthy!! Now that I have moved out of town I make the the drive to come see her every 6 weeks religiously! Love cakes! 10/10

If you have a very high bar for haircuts and color, Cakes is the place for you. Annie and Andy, the owners of Cakes, are AMAZING! After moving to Austin about 4 years ago, I tried SO many salons but never found the right combo of expertise and vibe. Now I have!! Andy is a wizard with cuts/styling and Annie is a color magician. They're both super talented people who listen to my ideas but who also make really good suggestions. They're also warm and welcoming folk, which adds to the good vibe of the place. Their salon is in a chic little east side house and get this--there's all kinds of parking. (Yeah, I know it's all about the hair but honestly, it's a huge relief not to have to add a 20 minute search for a park to every appt, right?) The only thing that would make it extra perfect is if they also had a bakery attached to the salon. I mean, it is called Cakes, yes? Kidding, not kidding. :)
