It just isn’t worth the money. Park your own car, no valet. Everything is extra and what you get for &1,000 a day is way over priced. Indoor pools are single use and appointment only. No one was in them and they didn’t even say “can I make an appointment for you”. Not a place for couples, someone said in a review how great staff were, and they even upgrade their room at no charge. I asked and they said yes, but you have to pay an additional charge??? The room is empty today, who is going to pay for it. They rather let it go empty I guess in Tucsom. Told we can come as early as 8, no valet and by time we checked in, breakfast was over. The rep told us breakfast is included, but only at the smoothie cafe. If we wanted to eat in the restaurant, we had to pay extra. No co ed waiting area or indoor heated pool that my wife and I can share. Only outdoor pools are coed, so you have to stay with strangers. Horrible and only just got here today.

Not worth the money at all. I am on day 2 of my stay here and am just in shock at the low quality of the room. For $1300/a night it is a shock to walk into a room with POLYESTER CURTAINS, no view of the beautiful desert exterior, and vinyl flooring and plastic furniture. You might as well stay at a Residence Inn. I walked to the front desk this morning to request a room change to at least have a room with a window with a view, and was told they do not allow same-day room changes. Then the front desk attendant handed me a pamphlet on "inner peace" ( I wish I were joking), and said, "well if you can't change rooms, at least you can take a moment to find some calm." I will never go back. It is a complete scam. Private equity ruined this place.

I first visited Canyon Ranch when it opened, i think Dec. 1979, (not Nov. 2024 but had to chose a date for this review.) A Houston friend called who was there and excitedly said come and see CR, there is nothing like it in the world! So I arrived from Houston the next day. We all became friends with Enid and Mel Zuckerman and were returning regularly for the next 6-7 years. Our lives were completely changed. I was the model on the CR brochure and I recommended CR to my friends. Our health and lives benefited beyond what we ever could have imagined. Canyon Ranch and the Sonoran Desert are with me all my life now even after forty five years. I am sad to read negative reviews here about CR. I just recommended CR to my primary care doctor and I hope the negative reviews are not true. Mel called me Miss Canyon Ranch. To this day I live up to that name and I hope CR is still the life changing, even life saving, place that is was and was meant always to be. It was an opportunity to make our lives the best they can be and you get out of the experience what you put into it....participate in all the Ranch has to offer.

I took this trip for some me time from my busy life and splurged to treat myself. ||From the moment I arrived I have been disappointed. Let’s start with after 7hrs traveling to get here, there is no-one at the front to help with luggage or bags or to great you warmly upon arrival. My room was positioned in the back of the property, I asked for it to be moved closer to everything, they couldn’t do so. Ok fine. I was starving, it’s an all inclusive resort… restaurant told me in 15minutes too late to order anything.. go to the cafe… I go to the cafe… they are sold out of sandwiches. ‘Sir - where can I get something to eat… we are in the middle of nowhere and this resort is supposed to be all inclusive? Oh, they serve dinner at 5”. (In 2 1/2hrs). Great. I go to the room to decompress, no water or any beverages in the fridge in the room, no snacks or food. I go to the bathroom, I cut my hand on sharp chipped porcelain sink they never fixed… the faucet is dirty… I head to dinner, they have one restaurant and I am ONE person, sorry mam, we can’t accommodate you until later… unreal. This place costs a fortune, what a disappointing day. Service horrible, food availability horrible, facilities are super run down, room is unclean - I’m really disappointed and I’m staying here another three days. I highly recommend Mirival over this, I won’t make that mistake again.

My wife and I had another visit to Canyon Ranch in Tucson that we have come to expect: a uniquely beautiful setting in the Sonoran Desert, at the foot of four mountain ranges, with an array of wellness classes, lectures and spiritual experiences that nourish the soul. The food was better than ever, and it is now discretely augmented by fine wines, too. But, it is the staff that is the core of satisfaction for guests, a staff who, by their nature and training, consistently impart fun, excitement and learning throughout our stay, program after program. They will even customize activities to suit the most unusual client preferences. Did I mention that the weather is reliably perfect for outdoor activities?

This is my first bad review I’ve ever written and had to decompress a few days before doing so. Canyon Ranch is in a beautiful location and it’s a shame I had such a bad experience at this resort. I purchased a day pass for $450, which included $250 worth of spa services, on Thanksgiving break. During my massage, I was body shamed by the massage therapist for the last 1/2 of my 80-minute massage. I’m in pretty good shape and exercise 5-6 days/week, but the massage therapist talked to me like I was an overweight, out of shape individual. He shared personal details of his spouse having battled anorexia, and I’m sure this had something to do with this poor treatment of me. It was pretty horrible, as I was in a vulnerable position on the massage table, and had never been spoken to like this before in my life! The front desk staffer that checked me in for the day seemed inexperienced and could have been a lot more helpful in explaining the way a day pass worked, so I wasn’t comfortable explaining to him what had happened in the massage room and wasn’t sure who else to speak to as no one seemed to be in charge at the spa, nor the resort check in desk. I went during Thanksgiving week and the resort seemed light staffed, so perhaps that’s why the restaurant was only open for a few hours too. I would not recommend spending money here for a day pass. It wasn’t worth half of what I spent, in my opinion.

My wife and mother-in-law arrived today. Rooms were not ready when they arrived. Once rooms were ready. Luggage was never delivered to the room. My wife is gluten-free. She has stated numerous times tonights dinner was served with a dessert that was clearly not gluten-free upon asking if the meal for the whole night was gluten-free they stated they were “pretty sure“ This is not good enough to claim a five star service. It’s a shame.

Service does not even deserve 1 star. We haven’t even been there and based on the service, I don’t want to. My mom has been trying to cancel our reservations there for the last week. One of your representatives hung up on her and another said she would call her back. So far nothing, even after leaving messages. She is now going try to email.

Very disorganized team and service, really unfortunate as the reviews are so positive. It was just one bad thing after another. Would strongly suggest folks look elsewhere before staying here - so many better options available.

10/10 this was the best experience I have had. It was absolutely beautiful, relaxing, fun, and restorative. From the campus, to the classes, the gym, the spa, the food, the services I genuinely loved it all. All of the staff from the pick up all the way to drop off were welcoming, friendly, and helpful.|| My partner and I chose the spa renewal package and got to tailor the services to what we each wanted - head neck shoulders massage, acupuncture, private yoga, a collagen facial, along with many others. All of the service providers were kind, welcoming, helpful, and knowledgable. Between those, the classes, and presentations I actually learned a ton about health and wellness (and Im a therapist). ||We started our mornings with walks which was nice to see the area. Then we would do the yogas, meditations, and health related classes, go to the gym which had everything we needed, and then used the spa for hot tub/sauna/cold plunge which was all amazing and relaxing. As a vegetarian that eats whole foods, the food was fantastic. I really liked all of the options and felt nourished and was able to get enough protein. They also had wellness shots, smoothies, salad bars - it was just so so nice.||We chose the Tuscon location to get to see a new area, coming from NYC and it was beautiful. Also the buildings were really pretty, we thought it was such a cool aesthetic and the people were quite chill and easy going. It was a nice ambiance, I never felt judged or like anyone was rude, plus we got to be casual and comfortable. It was a chilled out vibe. We stayed for 4 nights which was enough to hit a ton of services and classes, but I wish I could've done more! I actually teared up leaving and have been sad since lol the sign of a good and needed trip!!! Would absolutely recommend.

Tje property is beautiful and tanquill, the spa is phenomenal and the staff are world class! We will definitely be booking a weekend spa getaway after our experience!

Living on past laurels|Spent five nights at this location. We have been to many spa’s in the U.S. this one is generally old, old, tired and d the spa facilities are plain dirty! They provide little value for the extreme costs. |Rooms: we requested a room close to the center, and despite being half empty were placed in a tomm as far away from the center of activities. The rooms have no warmth, charm, carpeting or rugs. A cold motel room like vibe.|Spa: this is a spa resort. The spa facilities seem like they have not been touched for 30+ years. It feels just plain dirty. I had to alert an attendant that in the inhalation room of the men’s locker room, the level of dirt and mold on the drain was disgusting. ||Food-dining: The food was adequate, nothing to write home about. When I inquired about kombucha, they had a 6 oz can for $7. There were no charges for anything else. Bizarre. |The seating areas are uncomfortable. When one goes to a spa, these price points, dinner should be in a nice environment with comfortable chairs. The Pavillion felt like a bad college cafeteria. Like the facilities, it lacked charm, warmth, and cleanliness.|Customer service: early one morning called down for coffee and breakfast treats as our roll was the furthest distance. The hotel person said “you want me to do this for you, why?” When I tried to explain the concept of room service, he said no!|Exercise: the gym room with equipment was very good. The classes were mixed up. 3 times they were either cancelled or moved with no notice.

Nice people, but poor service. For this type of resort I would expect some basic support on understanding the grounds, what’s available to you, how to get places, rides to show up when scheduled instead of never at all, getting things like utensils and water and warm food when you go to dining locations. Can’t suggest you stay here, would instead point you to basically any other resort.

This was my first visit to a Canyon Ranch resort, and while there were some positive aspects, I left with significant concerns. The staff was incredibly attentive, going out of their way to ensure that my friends and I had a relaxing and rejuvenating experience. The spa services were lovely, and the rooms, though average, were clean. About half of the fitness instructors, along with all the experts leading the academic health and wellness lectures, were experienced and knowledgeable.||However, despite these positives, I’m troubled by the state of the property, especially considering Canyon Ranch's reputation as a world-class resort. Based on our three-day stay from Thursday to Sunday, it’s evident that the facility is in dire need of an upgrade. The entire resort feels outdated, stuck in the 1980s, which is disappointing for a property at this price point. The spa area, in particular, smelled musty, and the hot tubs had brown residue and debris at the bottom. The relaxation rooms, once probably luxurious, now appear dark, dingy, and worn out. A more modern, organic refresh is sorely needed.||The fitness classes were a mixed bag. While some instructors were excellent, one in particular stood out for all the wrong reasons. Her yoga and weight lifting classes were poorly cued, lacking safe guidance and modifications. Many participants, myself included, found her instructions unclear, and her habit of wearing dirty gym shoes from the street into the barefoot space felt unsanitary. Unfortunately, she led multiple classes during our stay, and since Canyon Ranch doesn’t list instructor names on the schedule, we were unable to avoid her sessions.||The food was another disappointment. It was a solid C-, with everything tasting institutionalized, reminiscent of a nursing home menu. I understand that the ranch is undergoing construction and operating with an abbreviated space and menu, but the quality was underwhelming. Several guests mentioned that the food used to be much better, which only added to our disappointment.||Overall, while there were enjoyable moments during our stay, Canyon Ranch Tucson clearly needs significant improvements to live up to its world-class reputation. ||I welcome a personal conversation with someone at CR Tuscon to hear their thoughts.

A big thank you to Samantha at the front desk for providing exceptional customer service! Despite having a rough day, she showed up to work and ensured our experience was fantastic. Thank you so much, Samantha! I'd also like to give a shout-out to Felix, the Security Guard, for being super cool! He engaged with our group, made us feel welcomed, and ensured our safety. Thank you, Felix!

I was there at a day pass, client got me a day at canyon Ranch for appreciation. Wow, what a gift. Learned meditation and yoga to a higher depth. Their massage was incredible. Food was clean and so good. Grounds are very much desert and well tailored to zen gardens. You must take some classes, lots to do so hard not to want to do them all. I love their robes and wish I had bought one.

Wow, what an incredible experience! I spent four nights at Canyon Ranch and feel completely refreshed. The customer service was exceptional, and the healthy, delicious food was a highlight. Each day offered a wide variety of activities to choose from, ensuring there was never a dull moment. Special thanks to Mark, who picked me up from the airport, and Jerry, who dropped me off. Both were so friendly and provided many insights into Canyon Ranch and Tucson. I also want to thank Colleen in the gift shop for her friendliness, Lindsay in the boutique for going above and beyond with activity suggestions tailored to my interests, Adam for the profound "Soul Journey" experience, and Sandra for her amazing hot stone massage, engaging conversation, and the mocktail recommendation to restore electrolytes after my activities. Shivani and Pat were also incredibly helpful with their readings. Everyone at Canyon Ranch was fantastic, making my stay truly memorable. I will definitely make this an annual trip.

BIZARRE experience trying to make a reservation - It’s been 27 minutes and I’m still on the phone. I’ve been transferred 4x and although they were quick to charge me they still haven’t told me if the service I want is even available. Clearly horrible communication on their behalf as reservations didn’t even know what services were available - transferred me - and now he can’t even find my account. I’m about to cancel this appointment since I’ve never experienced such stress and chaos trying to book a simple service.

I recently visited Canyon Ranch with a friend, and while our overall experience was enjoyable, there were some significant issues that have left me feeling quite disappointed. Let me start by saying that the food at Canyon Ranch was delicious, and we appreciated the variety of spa treatments and classes available. However, our positive experience took a sour turn on the last day of our stay. To our surprise and dismay, we were informed that we would be charged double the amount we had initially paid at the time of booking. This came as a shock to us, as nowhere in the booking process or on any of the confirmations did it indicate that the initial payment was only 50% of the total cost. We felt misled and deceived by the lack of transparency regarding the pricing structure. After discussing the matter with the staff, we were told that it is standard procedure to pay the full amount at the time of booking, which only added to our frustration. It seems there may have been a glitch in the website or communication breakdown, but regardless, the result was that we were charged double without any prior notification. Had we been aware of the true total cost upfront, we likely would have chosen alternative accommodations. Paying double the expected amount significantly impacted our overall perception of value for our stay. In hindsight, the experience was not worth the inflated price tag. While I appreciate the positive aspects of our visit, the unexpected financial burden has left a sour taste in my mouth. I hope that Canyon Ranch can address these issues to ensure future guests are provided with accurate and transparent pricing information. Given the circumstances, I believe a refund would be a fair resolution to compensate for the lack of clarity and unexpected charges during our stay.

What a fantastic stay! The grounds are beautiful and the staff are extraordinarily customer focused. We wish we could have stayed longer and enjoyed the different wellness classes. Highly recommend it.

Lovely place and great staff. My third visit here The service is different this time around with ongoing little things not quite the same. Appointment starting late, room not fully cleaned upon arrival , mishaps in the kitchen, etc. If it were one off thing it would be nothing but it just keeps happening - something every day it seems.

This place is going downhill. I won’t even get into the new management/ownership problems we experienced. That’s too complicated. Here’s some simpler things: They serve alcohol now. There is a bar. This is antithetical to the Canyon Ranch I have known is proof this place’s “DNA” has changed for the worse, against its original identity and purpose. Shower didn’t get hot until we called in to have it fixed (anti-scald valve), and it smelled bad for the first two days. They’ve done away with the DVD players to switch to streaming video but the internet is slow and the cable TV doesn’t work correctly because the buttons get stuck or something Classes were good, so was the food but it wrecked me from a blood sugar standpoint because the CARBOLOAD MEALS are UNAVOIDABLE (I’m a type 1 diabetic) Want a *tiny* cookie for desert? It has 25g of sugar in it! Surprise, here comes the most sugar-dense cookie you’ve ever had in your life! 4oz bowl of chili? 20 carbohydrates, and by carbs I mean sugar because this stuff hits your blood sugar levels hard and fast. There is more sugar in this place’s chili than chili from Wendy’s Breakfast Sandwich with a single slice of bread? 48 carbs. Oh, and that will be fully metabolized in 30 minutes because the carbohydrates are super processed (apparently) so you better start running or that glucose will turn straight into fat, or in my case, cause severe hyperglycemia The only honest food here is the pasta. Because every entree is equivalent to a big bowl of pasta. Edit: I also feel compelled to mention that every person we met there gained weight or otherwise stayed the same. It was sad listening to the ones who really hoped that they would. It’s because of the Texas sized food portions that are 100% carbo-loaded.
