Been going by Carmen for over 10 years. This salon offers excellent pricing for the services you receive. The quality of all services I have gotten there have been a 10/10 and the staff is very excellent and nice.

I got a haircut here on Monday 9/22. I was very excited at the prospect of supporting a local business in my neighborhood, however my haircut was uneven and not very good at all. When I washed and took a look at my hair today after it's initial styling in the salon on Monday I could clearly see that the haircut I got had asymmetrical layers that I did not ask for. The layers are about an inch shorter on the right side of my head than the left. The website I booked my appointment through said I would be charged $45 for a women's haircut with layers, I was charged $60 because I was pressured into getting a blow dry and style I didn't want and was not informed of the upcharge until I was checking out. When I called to ask for a refund for the cost of the cut the man who answered the phone continued to talk over me and wouldn't listen to anything I had to say and eventually hung up on me. All he kept repeating is that Carmen has practiced for more than 40 years and to let her look at it/fix it. As if that doesn't mean she can't give a bad haircut. If my hair was already messed up by someone who is practiced for 40 years, why would I want them to touch my hair again? I have been in the beauty industry since 2006, and as a stylist since 2009. I no longer practice currently because of my health and progressive physical disability. This is beyond unacceptable treatment. I will never return, and I will be sure to make sure others don't as well. I will be updating my review with photos when I have time. I'm happy to take my review down when I receive a refund for this cost of the haircut and an apology for being treated horribly by the man who answered the phone today at 11:57am.

This is a friendly shop that has been in the Rogers Park neighborhood for over 20 years. Their attention to detail is great and their prices very reasonable.

I am new to the area and was looking for a new hair dresser for my first professional cut in years. I am super glad I chose this place. Ashourina was super nice and gave me just what I was looking for. And she had such great tips and tricks for things like conditioner and how to style my bangs. Definitely going to be a repeat customer when I need another cut!

Amaaaaaazing service. Everyone is incredibly friendly and helpful. Carmen really took the time to understand what I wanted (a wolf cut and bangs) and then executed the cut wonderfully. Prices are incredibly reasonable and atmosphere is friendly and clean. Left feeling extremely happy with my hair :)

I battled over writing this review but I feel so slighted by this business that I feel it's best. I booked an appointment for my mother who is not well enough to travel to her normal hair salon and wanted to try out a location much closer to home given how growingly difficult mundane tasks have become due to her health. for context, her hair is relatively short and she came in for a tint and trim. First and foremost, we were quoted $50 on the phone on two separate occasions. After all, was said and done, we paid nearly $100 for her to leave with a very uneven haircut with patches of grey and the warmth of the previous hair dye shining through. The owner was more concerned with conserving their hair dye, which they charged exorbitantly for, rather than executing the service that we paid. The hairdresser was scraping the bowl for remnants of hair dye before 65% of my mother's hair was covered. I was in shock the entire appointment and i cannot recommend enough that you read the reviews on yelp and be very clear about what you expect and the possibility of receiving that before coming here. kind people. services worth the price? definitely not.

Hands down, Carmen is an amazing stylist. The beauty her hands create is show stopping. As a colorist, she is at the top of her game. Her work is award winning. Haircuts are accurate and makes you come back for more each and every time.

I've had nothing but great experiences here. Ashourina does an awesome job with nails & I love the supplies they use because my nails sometimes break & get thin since I work in a hospital & have to wash them so much & every time I've gotten a manicure, especially the no chip manicure, my nails get much stronger, they grow long & the manicure lasts at least about 3 weeks. One time, I called them to see if they had any openings because I damaged my nail too far up & she said come in now & she did a great job. She also did a great job with my highlights. I like getting my eyebrows done here too. I also love the supplies they use for hair care & Carmen is the only person I let do my hair, after a bad experience I had at another place. Great work ladies

Went in for a simple straight cut. Got exactly a straight cut. I was shown the inches before they were cut off, mild conversation and a good ambience in the studio. Quick, simple and enjoyable.

Being Indian with Wavy hair, when I went for my haircut at different location, in 2018, they did a horrible job..Next day I came to Carmen and she fixed my horrible hair . I have been using her services for past two years and love it.

Came here because of the convenient location and great reviews online. I was a little disappointed that eyebrow threading was $15 instead of the $7 everyone raved about, but I have to admit that my eyebrows have never looked better. I called the day before to set up an appointment for the next day, came 10 minutes early, and was seated immediately. She did a great job - I feel like it wasn't as painful as it usually is at other places, and she even explained to me how she determined the shape of my brows. Would recommend, though it is a bit pricey.

Got a wolf cut/ partial high light staff was amazing Carmen knew exactly what I wanted. Her and her husband were extremely kind to me 10/10 will be going back again in the future.

I have been going to Carmen's for many years and have always enjoyed the relaxing experience. This is a family run business and they (Carmen, Albert, Ashourina) treat you as a family member. They always do what I ask and never disappoint. We laugh and have a good time and Carmen makes helpful suggestions in caring for me. Love them.

What an amazing experience! It had been a year since I got my haircust and I can absolutely say I walked away from this place with a huge smile on my face!
