Gerardo is the absolute best stylist in NYC. I have been with him for years and the cuts are always fresh - and they grow out so well. The texture and the approach is so thoughtful and I love spending time at Celeste. Cannot recommend him enough.

Alan a former colleague always had the best hairstyles. They were cool, subtle and fit him perfectly. One day I had the gumption to ask him where he got his haircut. At this point I had been to many barbers and stylists that cut my hair but overlooked my personal style. There was always something missing. Alan told me that he went to a stylist in the east village named Gerardo. I asked him for Gerardo's contact information and made an appointment. When I met Gerardo I instantly loved his fantastic personal style. He made me feel relaxed and like we had known each other for a long time. As we talked about my ideas for that first haircut I knew that he was taking my own style into account. That was 2009. Since then I have changed my look a variety of times and with each haircut Gerardo has complemented my current look. It's a rare and magnificent feeling to walk into a hair appointment and love every cut and style. Gerardo cuts my hair in a way that continues to look great as it grows in and somehow gets better and more stylish. I receive a compliment on my haircut from friends every time. Its truly magical to me. If you want a hair style that is your own from a stylist that cares so much please do yourself a favor and make an appointment. You will be overjoyed! Gerardo is an artist!

Celeste “How do I love thee? Let me count the ways…” There are many reasons why I chose this hair stylist and no one else…. for over a decade. Celeste is the accomplishment of a talented hair stylist who resolutely worked towards creating this space. I have followed Gerardo through the years, and so have my 2 boys. They were around 6 when they started getting their hair cut and styled with Gerardo and they went through different phases seamlessly. I started my relationship with Gerardo with a Pixie cut and the skills were obvious in the way my hair looked but also as it grew. I’ve gone to Celeste for hair cut, hair do, hair trim, hair color/ lightening… and always asked for a natural look which was expertly promised and provided. I can only say that I love the space and the stylist behind it all, beyond words 🖤

Honestly this was the second time i’ve ever dyed my hair in a hair salon. The first time i ever dyed my hair, i did not like how it turned out. It was so hard for me to trust another hair stylist after the first one, and too actually find an actual professional one, that’s actually a professional ! thankfully i found gerardo. HE IS THE BEST! and i promise you, you’re in good hands. Gerardo is an amazing hair stylist and takes the time to see what looks good on you and what doesn’t. And gives his honest opinion. I loved my hair session with Gerarado. He truly made me feel myself & beautiful again. I will definitely be coming back!

Gerardo is a true gem. I have curly hair and a lot of it and am a hairstylist loyalist. I have been commuting to my guy in LA for years. After years of complimenting a coworker on her hair I finally asked her for her hair stylist info and she said she has been following Gerardo for years through different salons and now here at his own spot. The salon is beautiful - perfectly located on ground level in wonderful neighborhood. It’s super clean, small, and personal as it’s just him cutting and washing hair. What I loved about him is the amount of attention he took to really understanding what I want. Took every detail I said for consideration and asked questions along the way if it was how i liked it, how i was use to my previous stylist doing it. I also went into it with a “surprise me” / not too prescriptive attitude and he did beautiful work on the cut. He’s very considerate and is easy going. Will talk as little or as much as you want. Super happy and will be back.

An appointment with Gerardo is a personal experience; like you're visiting your dear friend who also happens to be an incredible hairstylist. First, the styling: Gerardo is like an artist and technician rolled into one. I started going to him because he had been cutting my nephew's hair for years and the cut was always so precise, modern and handsome. He gives the same attention to my long hair - the cut is always shaped precisely to my face. I leave the one-chair salon feeling fabulous, and always like I've caught up with an old friend. Chatting is optional, but I always delight in our conversations. If you want a stylist who cares, who provides washing-to-styling himself (no passing you off to an assistant), who makes you look amazing, go to his sweet storefront studio. You won't be disappointed.

Impeccable sense of style, and the customer is treated like royalty. Today, they made sure I will look impeccable for a friend's wedding this week. My husband and I have been getting haircuts from Gerardo for more than 15 years, following him from two different salons to the beautiful little zen haven that is is Celeste Hair Studio. It's an amazing experience every time - warm atmosphere, fun conversation and truly masterful haircutting that I never tire of watching the mechanics and artistry of. Gerardo takes his time, listens to what you have in mind, and has an incredible talent for styling your hair in a way that's exactly right for its texture and feel. I have always thought of getting a haircut as a bit of a chore but with Gerardo, it's something to truly look forward to.

This quaint salon in the heart of the lower east side is everything! Pristine and.. not only make you feel like you’re the only person in the world for an hour.. I absolutely LOVE Celeste. I’ve had my hair cut, styled and dyed by Celeste for 3 years… I now even travel all the way from Rockaway Beach, just to have my hair done. Wonderful is simply the word I would use.

Where do I start! Got my hair styled by Gerardo over two years ago and came back to find him in his new salon on the lower east side. Incredible stylist and one who really takes into account all that you want and puts his heart and soul into making you look fab! Couldn’t have asked for a more talented and creative stylist! CELESTE is the cutest solon in NYC! Perfect location, cozy, clean, bright and inviting! I'm so happy for Gerardo who recently opened this spot ! I have been going to Gerardo for more than 15 years... started in my late 20s and basically followed him through all the years in the different salons he worked... Finally he has his own beautiful spot and I couldn't be more proud! He is hands down the best stylist I've ever gone to... and I tried MANY before meeting Gerardo... that search was over after the first perfect haircut he gave me! He knows straight hair, curly hair, stubborn hair (mine) and understands how it behaves in different types of weather and seasons in NYC... he takes that into account when recommending a style. He's also amazing at making color appear as natural as can be... Check him out! You will not be disappointed and it's a great value for NYC!

Gerardo has been cutting my hair for nearly 13 years! Gerardo has been able to give me amazingly stylish and fresh cuts at every length I’ve had, from short to medium length, to when I had hair midway down my back; I get plenty of compliments every time. He has literally given me my best haircuts! I have referred other people to him, and they have also become loyal customers. There is a reason why I continue to see him after all these years; he gives excellent haircuts, plain and simple! But, of course, his energy, positivity, creativity, and reasonable prices are a plus. I know people who have moved away and say that one of the things they miss is Gerardo. Every time they come to NYC, they rush to him to get a fantastic cut and color. I am so happy he has his salon now! It is a perfect size; it makes me feel like the focus is on my hair. The salon is bright and super clean, essential during the COVID times. I recommend Gerardo at Celeste Hair Studios wholeheartedly.

Gerardo is ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC and has taken care of me and my hair for a very long time (between 11 and 12 years, if I am remembering correctly). My hair is totally unmanageable and I would be at a complete loss if Gerardo did not save me every few weeks! I can't recommend this place enough!

I've been seeing Gerardo for years now and can't see myself going anywhere else! I've never been so consistently pleased with a hair salon before. I'm very indecisive and have learned the hard way over the years that hairstylists don't like the question "I don't know, what do you think?" but Gerardo takes his art very seriously, and will work with you to help you figure out what style works best for you and your hair type. He will also help you with advice on how to care for your hair long-term. It's truly a luxury experience. Personally, I have fine, thinner hair and typically prefer shorter styles, but Gerardo has a diverse range of clients with different styles and hair types - on more than one occasion I've seen fellow clients stop by to say hello, some of whom travel long distances to see him, which speaks both to the relationships he builds and his ability to cut a variety of hair. I can't recommend him enough.

I’ve been going to Gerardo for years and I’m so happy he opened his own salon! He is a fabulous stylist with accessible pricing— practically unheard of in nyc!!!! Celeste is newly renovated, gorgeous, bright, and clean. Gerardo went out of the way to make everything extremely covid-safe— in addition to hygiene and his double masking, the studio is private and only allows one customer at a time! Gerardo is a genuinely amazing person and I feel lucky to know him and be his client ❤️❤️ seriously book now you won’t regret it!!!
