The salon is clean and pleasant, and aesthetically pleasing. Not only did I come back with a haircut that was absolutely horrendous, it has ruined my hair (increased breakage, and some product they used has dried my hair tremendously). I got a haircut earlier last month and waited for a while to write this review, thinking/hoping that it might get better with a few weeks in. Truth is, it's the worst haircut I've ever received. I had beautiful, thick, long hair. Firstly, the length was cut way shorter, and it was uneven on either side. I went back to get it fixed, which they were happy to do since the stylist admitted that it was a huge mistake. I was OK with the length -- I'd made my peace with it. I explicitly mentioned that I didn't want ANY further length reduction, just fixing it. The face framing layers were asymmetrical and chunky, so I asked if they could fix that a bit. He went on to not only reduce the length further, thin it (he did ask me, I said to proceed with thinning but cautiously so they could sense where the weight ought to be removed) atrociously, and in all the wrong places - he made the front face framing layers EXTREMELY weird, short and chunkier, if that was even possible. I look like I have two haircuts, one at the front (shorter, chunkier, almost a bob) and one at the back (thinned oddly, like a mullet). The thinning was done with hair wet (Which I found out later resulted in way more thinning and clumps) and is usally not recommended. Honestly -- I hate to give negative feedback, and I usually don't. But I do feel like if I had seen a negative review, I would have saved myself a lot of mental trauma that followed by not even going here. I think it's important for people to know this when they go in for a 100$+ haircut. I know my hair will grow back in some time, but I have major life events that I don't want to always pin my hair up for. I'm embarrassed of my hair, when I used to love it. I only tie to up to not look like a clown, and no amount of refund (which they did give me, in their defense) can fix it. I would pay 5x the price to get my old hair back. Hoping that this review saves someone the anguish I went through. The salon is probably good at other services, and I don't want to deny them that. I just would NEVER recommend this stylist for a haircut. It wasn’t just “not my preferred look”. It was a COMPLETE blunder.

Leticia is great! She is a highly skilled artist. She knows her stuff and knows how to deliver. I loved working with her and the result is great! So glad to find a great stylist and I will be back.

I had my hair cut today by Margarita. She was so lovely, sweet, attentive and did such a wonderful job with my hair. I love it so much. I’m so glad I found this place, and I will continue to come back. The other stylists were also very kind! The salon was so clean, cool, and organized. Thank you, Margarita 😊

Unprofessional Service and Hidden Price Increase – Avoid This Salon! I have been coming here since 2022 but I will not be returning here anymore. I had an incredibly disappointing experience at Cetana Salon. When I booked my appointment, I was never informed of a price increase for my usual service. Not only did I not receive any communication via email or in person from the receptionist about the change, but I was blindsided at checkout when I was pressured to pay the inflated amount. The team was rude and dismissive when I brought this up, and I felt completely harassed and uncomfortable. The lack of transparency and professionalism is shocking, especially for a business that should value its customers' trust. I will not be returning to Cetana Salon, and I strongly advise others to be cautious if you consider visiting this salon. Clear communication and respect for customers should be basic standards, but unfortunately, this place missed the mark completely.

What a delightful and positive experience I had on my first visit here. I would definitely go back. Adan was recommended to me by a friend for balayage, and not only did he have excellent technique but he took the time to understand exactly what I wanted and the pragmatic elements on the style I was going for in order to personalize the experience. The color turned out beautifully, and he also styled it in a way I can learn to repeat on my own. He just gets it. 5 stars!

Pros: Stylist was detail oriented Asked a lot of questions. Double checked her work What we agreed on came out well Cons: She didn't know the proper scissors to use. For $80 she should know that. Her coworker corrected her mistake saying "you need this type for her hair" Next and most important she couldn't deliver what I actually needed, which was to have thick hair/volume reduced without layers. I know it's possible to have volume removed without layers I have had it done before. Most hairstylists give me options Undercut, point cut or layers. I'm glad she was honest about her skills and ability though! I should have left then, not because she did anything wrong, I but because she couldn't deliver what I needed. Instead I settled (my bad!) and said "okay take half an inch off and please give me bangs" In the end, I just paid $80 for bangs & half an inch trim and have tons of hair still. I have gotten the same haircut at The Aveda School for $26.00. I wouldn't say not to go here but ask a lot of questions first.And it depends on your hair type, cut and how much you want to pay.

My appointment with Leticia was fantastic! She helped talk me through what I thought I wanted vs. what was practicable. In the end, she matched my vision perfectly and was exceptionally personable and professional. The salon itself was really nice; I enjoyed the staff and the tea was delicious.

This was my third visit to this salon to have my service done with Marguie. I’ve lived in SF for three years now and have tried a few different stylists/salons, looking for a good match. The first couple visits with Marguie were just for a cut and this past time was for a cut/color. I have long, fine hair and get blonde balayages/highlights for color and she did a beautiful job! She’s newer talent, so she takes her time, which I appreciate because she really makes sure everything is perfect and just as requested. Very knowledgeable as well and has a great eye when it comes to paying attention to detail or making suggestions. Thanks again Marguie!

Amazing service! It was my first time at Cetana. Big kudos to Baily who helped with choosing a beautiful color for my hair and made me super relaxed with a head massage! Everyone in the salon was very friendly and welcoming. They offer tea or wine and free cookies too. I'll be back!

I cannot say enough about my experience at Centana. I started going grey at 17 and by 25 I was coloring my hair. I’ve wanted a way to back off of the coloring, but also didn’t want have pandemic hair again (yes, if I had known how long it would last, I would have grown it out, but…) Anyway, I’m single and not ready to embrace white hair. I still think of myself as a brunette. But I am open to what people who know hair suggest. Natasha knows hair. She heard my story and made the recommendations and together with Margarita, they executed. The vision, care, and artistry was unparalleled. I was there for 4+ hours and every single person that walked out of there was bright, shiny, and idealized. Why couldn’t it all start with new hair? Go to Centana. You too will be thrilled with the results.

This is an excellent Salon. The staff is very professional and kind. The atmosphere is cozy, and the location is very good. Prices are high, but worth the overall experience. Good value for money.

I'm beyond thrilled! I absolutely love love love the way my hair looks, feels, and smells! Jay is the best. I had a cut and a balayage. I've never felt so at ease while getting my hair done. I hardly felt the time go by. Everyone is so friendly, talented, beautiful, and professional. Oh definitely try their their wonderful tea! Excellent experience overall, plus your hair will definitely thank you! Their online Portal is easy to access, navigate, and booking a reservation is a breeze! I've been here 3 times now, 2/3 times I received exceptional service. They also have a "new talent" option here that's definitely worth checking out! Extremely talented stylists here, but some of them are a little rude and could benefit from a little empathy.

Alain (owner) is the best! Been going to him for 6 plus years. Took me years to find a hairstylist that worked well with my thick Asian hair. He takes great care to layer and style my hair and most of all listens and remembers what I like. The salon being walkable in SOMA is a major plus too. Love to support local businesses!
