First time visit and had a wonderful appointment with Lydia. I was greeted once I walked in and Lydia attended to me right on time. She was well prepared and took great care of my hair, all the while being courteous, friendly & kind. I immediately booked my next appointment as I feel confident I can trust her to take good care of my natural hair going forward. Thank you very much!

I spent years trying to find a salon and stylist in Pittsburgh that felt comfortable with my curl pattern and texture, Lenny is EVERYTHING and more. My first visit with Lenny I got a silk press, since then I’ve also gone to her for curly cuts / style and braids of various sorts. She can do it all, truly I have yet to find something she can’t do. It is the biggest source of comfort to find a hairdresser you feel confident will help you look and feel your best with whatever you want to do to your hair. Beyond her versatility her knowledge of hair care and products is top notch. She has accommodated me for last minute appointments, squeezed me in at the end of her day and always responds so quickly whenever I reach out with a new idea. She is also so easy and entertaining to chat with, the appointments always fly by. Sitting down in her chair is a breath of fresh air. I know she’ll be my stylist for as long as she practices! This entire salon is a gem and I couldn’t be happier I found it- give it a try, you won’t regret it.

Jess is amazing! I have had dry haircuts and bang trims and my curls always have nice shape and volume whenever she cuts it. She is friendly and makes sure that your vision comes to life. She also gives recommendations for curly haircare at home. I always feel great after leaving the salon! Definitely recommend :)

Lenny gave me the best haircut I’ve had in years. She listened and provided her valuable professional expertise. The salon is comfortable and well equipped. Everyone is friendly. Well worth it for a great cut and salon experience.

I’m a licensed Cosmetologist and just wanted a little more guidance when working with my models on-set and at shoots with natural curly hair. I took a class with Chelsea yesterday and couldn’t be happier with all of the info that was covered. She’s so organized and really takes the time with you so you understand curly hair in general before jumping right in. She’s extremely knowledgeable and I’m so happy a friend recommend her! If you are looking for a class or just an amazing salon in general I highly recommend them.

When it comes to professionalism and customer service, I can’t say I’ve seen too many places that fit into this places standards and criteria. Weeks ago, I had a service done that I wasn’t particularly fond of… When Ms. Chelsea found out I was unsatisfied, not only did she reach out PERSONALLY but she proceeded to do the service again herself and did a phenomenal job… Most people and businesses in our community only care about the money aspect of it all, but you can tell that this place genuinely has fondness and cares about their customers. My finger coils have held up greatly for a good couple days now and they look phenomenal. I’ve been looking high and low for the past couple of months in the PGH area for somewhere to get my hair coiled, and I think I have found the place that is my go to for that. I’ve gotten multiple compliments these past couple days and still am. Not only was Ms.Chelsea knowledgeable of what she is doing, but she was quick too. In all great salon, great customers device, and great people. It warms my heart to see a black owned business in the community that genuinely cares about its people.🙌🏾

Jess knows her stuff for curly hair. The shop has good vibes and everyone I’ve interacted with are friendly. Street parking is relatively easy in that area too.

Super nice hairstylists in this salon. Very accommodating to their clients. Quick and painless wait to boom appointments. The only downside is they are booked up often, but when you are able to get in and seize an appointment you will not be disappointed with the end results of your hair. Love this place!

This place is the best!! My hairstylist Carmen did such an excellent job. I never really like my hair styled with my curls it normally comes out frizzy but she somehow MADE IT PERFECT!! I’m absolutely blown away and I’m only coming here from now on.

The service was good but I walked in with hair I’ve been doing out for almost a year now from my last big chop, walking out with another big chop, i wanted to shape my curls and cut the ends and walked with a big chop all over again, my stylist was definitely scissor happy !

This is the only hair salon that I have been to in my entire existence that I truly felt comfortable in and where my curly hair was welcomed and celebrated. I work at a Forbes rated spa, so I pay close attention to details, and Chelsea’s salon is remarkable in regard to the staff and facility. Jess is absolutely phenomenal. Her heart is so kind. It is evident that she is skilled and passionate about what she does. I look forward to my appointment every time!

Absolutely DISAPPOINTING!! I looked like a wet dog after my service, I was unhappy and was told it was my fault my curls are two textures. I still paid and came back 10 minutes later to talk to the stylist about dissatisfaction and wet dog look. A week later I am charged again for the terrible style, experiencing a HUGE financial inconvenience. During my busy day I now must make time to keep calling to get this resolved. No one is answering or calling me back. Terrible experience makes me sick to my stomach I didn’t ask for my money back same day!

Amazing salon! I have curly hair and I’ve never been to a salon that gave me better results! Tiara did my cut and changed the way I do my hair. My routine is simpler and my curls look better! No more complicated refresh’s. I shake my hair out from the bonnet in the morning and it’s ready to go. I decided to purchase the styling product she used and that has kept salon results a month later. This cut was worth every dollar

Bad experience. I left $200 shorter with a hairstyle I disliked. The stylist wasn't attentive, juggling multiple clients simultaneously. It's frustrating to resort to wearing hats just one day after getting my hair done.

Highly recommend Lydia! Great salon, with friendly, knowledgeable stylists and solid prices. I got a curly cut with a deep conditioning. Lydia took the time to discuss what I was looking for, respected my choice to grow out my existing color, used some Olaplex to rebalance some of the blonde (from another salon), and gave me feedback on her overall thoughts. To any curly girls who still struggle with trust issues and trying out a new salon, you won't be disappointed here! I had my very first dry curly cut with Tiara and she worked absolute magic on my hair. I've never seen my hair have this much spring and bounce. Tiara really took the time to understand what I was looking to achieve. She has a way of articulating her steps in each process that felt both educational and like talking to a friend. Her passion for curly hair really shines through and really takes a lot of care in how she handles your hair. I didn't feel like a burden for having longer/thick hair. Across the board this salon is clean, welcoming, and time is really managed well. Booking an appointment online is a breeze.

I just took my three daughters to Chelsea Rae Salon for a curly cut. Their stylist, Tiara was amazing! Their curls have never looked so beautiful and healthy and the shape is great. I would highly recommend. It was a wonderful experience!

My first time visiting CRS was amazing! Lenny was my stylist and she did such a great job on my twists. She explained every product that she put in my hair along the way and perfectly created the look that I wanted for my upcoming trip to New Orleans. I also loved the decor in the salon and the wine/snacks. I got so many compliments about my hair on my trip and my twists stayed moist and solid despite the intense heat/weather. People were sad to hear that I was just visiting NOLA and didn't get my hair done there so they could book an appointment. Haha! Looking forward to my next appointment in a few weeks.

This was my first time at this Salon. It was a terrific experience! Lenny cut and styled my curly hair perfectly! She took the time to learn what kind of cut I was seeking and then worked her magic. She definitely is a curly hair specialist, in my opinion. She also took me promptly, which is always appreciated. I will be a return customer.

Lenny worked her magic and did an amazing job cutting and coloring my curly hair! After I showed her reference photos of some hairstyles that I found online, she cut my hair in the style that I wanted, and she used the balayage technique to highlight my hair. Also, Lenny took the time to learn about how I take care of my hair at home, and she even provided recommendations on other hair products and tools I can use for my hair. Everyone at the Chelsea Rae Salon was very friendly and sweet, and the salon itself is absolutely beautiful. I'm definitely planning on returning back to this salon in the future. I highly recommend setting up an appointment here for anyone with curly hair!

When I moved to Pittsburgh a few years ago, I was used to getting my hair flat ironed every 2 weeks and wearing it long. My hair was damaged and the color was growing out. Chelsea not only brought my hair back to life, she helped me to embrace my natural curls. Now, I love my hair and my curls! She steams and conditions my hair which can be dry. I always leave feeling fresh, pretty & cared for.
