Been coming here for over 10 years... they always have the best stylists. Kanoa was my recent dresser & she did amazing foils & cut! They are one of the only salons I trust to get a trendy color & cut everytime!

Expensive but high quality--you get what you pay for here. Granted, I don't get any high-end services: no perm, no color, just a fairly simple short haircut. That said, I have difficult hair: many, many cowlicks and seborrheic dermatitis which means extra care has to be taken in choosing products and styles, and in not applying too high heat. They have always done a superb job, and in spite of my condition, I feel relaxed here and my scalp does better in the week or two after my visits. Wash, cut, style (no blowdry) is $30-35 plus tips. For me, it's worth it. They also offer spa services and manicure/pedicure, but I have not used those.

I started going here in 2007. Several years ago I moved further out and I have tried so many salons trying to find a fit. Finally, I just realized that nothing will ever compare to the service and the amazing people at Chez Madeleine. So I now drive almost a hour to get my hair or nails done. If you want a place with great employee longevity and extremely knowledgeable stylists, then let me recommend Chez Madeleine. And if you can’t get in right away, that’s because they are that good! It shows how sought-out these stylists are.

I first knew about Chez Madeleine from a friend. She recommended John for a hair cut. That was the best recommendation I have had for the past 20 years. John can stand tall next to the true professionals and artists anywhere in the world. I was really grateful to finally have my hair cut by John this week. It was a great boost to my morale. He and all the staff there are great. I feel good being with them, like visiting an old friend. Sue Jones

My haircut was fine, though rushed. Felt like everyone was waiting for my cut to be done because I was somehow keeping them from doing something else. Could not tip on credit card (ridiculous!). Stylist was arrogant and conceited, but did a decent cut.

Rude, racist , staff and owner. If you have anything more than fine-medium straight hair they look down on you and all scramble to find someone to take people of color. Their nail tech has a personality disorder and is extremely abusively rude to her clientele. The staff think they are protected and can treat people like trash, bc that’s what they have learned from their boss/owner. The prices are outrageous for low quality color lines, and it is dirty and mildewed smelling in the shampoo area and bathrooms. I don’t know how they haven’t been shut down for health code violations!

I went in with a Groupon for a Brazilian wax. it was done by this amazing women Tonnica . It had been awhile since I had one so it was a lot, but Tonnica was very nice, gentle, thorough and professional. I'm of darker skin tone and usually when I go to other places the waxier misses a lot of hair but Tonnica removed everything she is definitely the best that I've been to here in the Hampton roads area will return and recommend to others

Could not be any happier with the service at this place! And the staff is amazing! I love changing my hair drastically: from long to short, dark to blond; and I do it pretty often. But sometimes a professional knows better what's going to look best. And I'm lucky to find the salon where I always get a worthy advice. I've tried several place before I discovered Chez Madeleine, and it's the first salon where I'm always satisfied with both the result and the price. I would definitely recommend this place!

I have been in 3 times for color now, and the Keratin Express treatment once and all of the staff was friendly, warm, and inviting. I was extremely happy with my services, and would definitely refer my friends and family there. I was also excited to see the upcoming renovations are underway. I hear there are some beautiful changes coming and look forward to seeing the result!

I've been going here for over 5 years. This is the best salon in the area hands down. I go here for my nails and my hair and have referred several people who agree, this salon knows what they're doing. I get so many compliments on my nails because they are always done right (and quick!) the first time. As for my hair, all of the stylists are terrific and on time. I have a HUGE amount of trust in them and they always exceed my expectations. I refer this salon all the time.

What Happened? This used to be such an incredible salon when I moved away a few years back. Now the staff seems much more indifferent and the clients a lot older. One thing I have noticed is the staff turnover which is really a shame. I do not write a lot of reviews but after the way I was treated by one of owners when I asked about the change, I think I will be looking for a new place.

After the 2am reminder text message about my appt, I arrived only to be told that the girl doing my facial was stuck in traffic and would there 30 min late. While I understand traffic can't be avoided, all the front desk girl said was, "well I would offer you a wash/blow out but you don't want that before a facial." After waiting 45 min, i was put into a tiny room on a table too short for me. She didn't ask me about my skin type or anything i use; she just went to town scrubbing my face very roughly with a wash cloth. Each product stung just a little more than the last. After only 45 min (was supposed to be an hour) I left the room while she stayed in there and the lady behind the counter just said, "have a nice weekend."

I simply attempted to make a hair appointment and I was disappointed by the woman that answered the phone. She was condescending and irritated. I was so turned off by her lack of customer service that I refused to make an appointment with a company like this. Their lack of respect, professionalism and abundance of attitude will never guarantee my business nor my friends or colleagues. What a shame that this was my first and last impression.

I've always gotten great trims and blow-outs from Nancy at Chez Madeleine. Afterwards my hair is always so healthy and beautiful. It's so relaxing and I have never been disappointed with how I look afterwards. Whether I was getting my makeup done or my hair trimmed, I'm always pleased with Chez Madeleine's service and results!
