I saw a negative review on here and I felt that I had to jump in to share my appreciation for this place. I love visiting Chic Salon, and I can’t recommend it enough! From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with warmth and professionalism. The atmosphere is cozy, inviting, and it is very clean. It was the perfect place to unwind and relax after a stressful morning at work. The Megan and Mario are incredibly skilled, attentive, and genuinely passionate about what they do. Chic salon is connected to Mirabella Portland which makes it a convenient place for its residents to visit. In my experience, this salon delivers it all with exceptional care and attention to detail. It’s clear they prioritize their clients’ needs and make each visit a personalized experience. I’m already looking forward to my next appointment!

I stopped by Portland and decided to get shorter front layers. Mario was very friendly and managed to fit me in at the last minute. I paid $25 for a cut that took less than 10 minutes. I explained that I wanted the first layer to fall to my cheekbone once blow-dried. While I'm not a professional, I've had short front layers before. However, when I blow-dried my hair this morning, the layers were unevenly cut, sitting at eye level and looking choppy. The result was quite disappointing. Perhaps Mario should have cut them longer initially, blow-dried them to assess the length, and made necessary adjustments to ensure I got the desired outcome. Hair grows back, but based on my experience, I can't recommend Mario. It's possible that my late request at the end of his day affected the service quality.

Mario is a highly-skilled, creative, and perceptive hair stylist who listens to what a client wants and delivers great results. If what a client wants won’t work, he explains why and gives a workable alternative, often better than what I had envisioned.

Got a facial and Sarah Water Aesthetics-and Sarah was great! What a great addition to Chic Salon & Spa! My skin feels amazing, is glowing, and it was so relaxing. Customer service was excellent!

I had previously gone to a different nail salon in the south waterfront area, and my nails looked terrible after that visit, but I will save that review for their page. At Chic Salon & Spa, Megan was ready for me as soon as I arrived for my appointment. She took the extra time and care to remove a very difficult to remove nail product that the previous salon had applied, and she was gentle while doing it. Her attention to detail was also phenomenal when it came to shaping and painting my nails. The salon is very clean overall and I love all of their plants. Bonus— they have plant cuttings for sale there too! I will definitely be back!

This was a great experience. I came in with an old photo and little idea as to what I wanted. Mario helped talk me through what my wants and needs are and I came out with a fresh, clean cut that feels and looks great more than 2 weeks later. I especially appreciated being asked if I wanted it to look "more feminine, masculine, or somewhere in between". When we came to a spot that I felt uncertain about, Mario worked it up in one way so we could see how I liked it, then had no qualms about shaving it off when it didn't feel right. He talked me through how to keep up the look and other ideas to play around with it as it grows out. He was not pushy about selling me products but was able to recommend a good one when I requested it. I was able to make the appointment online and fill in my preferred pronouns. And as a bonus! The salon is filled with beautiful vines and happy plants and propagation stations and when I inquired I discovered they sell the plant clippings too! I got clippers and a clipping for a great price and am sure to be back!

Loving my hair cut by Mario! This was my first time there and it was a wonderful experience. Place is clean and nicely decorated, and Mario is friendly and very talented. Highly recommend. I'll definitely be back.

Chic Salon and Spa has an amazing staff that is professional, skilled, and overall does a great job. Mario does a great job on my hair, both cutting and coloring it, and I always leave feeling fresh. I've also gotten amazing manicure and pedicures from Meagan, as well as amazing facials from Nicki (Prismatic Skincare). I highly recommend them!

I've been using Kris for color services for close to a year and have known him for even longer from another salon. He's amazing. My hair consistently looks wonderful and people walk up to me on the streets to compliment the color. I've gotten all kinds of styles from Kris from blondes to vibrant teals and purples. Kris is extremely knowledgeable about the color process, what will look good together and also the limitations of the coloring process... aka he's talked me out of some wild idea I had by explaining, very politely, what my crazy idea would look like in reality.... Oh no, I didn't want a cross between Jem and a smurf (my words) thanks Kris! He also listens and remembers everything we talk about and has a wicked sense of humor. I wouldn't trust anyone else with my hair. If you want randoms to walk up and compliment your 'do, this is the place for you! (this is my same yelp review, it doesn't need an update because he's consistently awesome!)
