Very rude and unprofessional… You would expect better treatment from your own people in 2025. As a single Dad with a tender headed 10 yr old daughter, I was happy to see a kids salon in the area. I went in to inquire only to be met with rudeness and unprofessionalism…. 0 Stars

I recently booked an appointment for my niece at Childish Mane during her visit. The overall experience didn’t meet my expectations. When we arrived, there was no warm welcome; the salon owner never even acknowledged us, which immediately set a disappointing tone. I was excited for my niece, a young Black girl with beautiful, thick hair, to enjoy a special salon experience tailored for kids (with clientele that primarily seems to be Black little girls). I truly appreciate the idea of a space dedicated to making kids feel celebrated and cared for, which is why it was disheartening that the atmosphere didn’t reflect that mission. Instead, it felt like she was an inconvenience at the beginning of our visit. It’s so important for children, especially those who are tender-headed or new to the salon experience, to feel comfortable and valued during their visit. At the first sign of my niece’s discomfort I was told there was a no screaming policy, I think this could have been presented in a gentler and kinder way. A welcoming and affirming environment not only helps build confidence but also creates lasting positive memories for kids about caring for their natural hair. Instead I felt like I did something wrong by bringing her to the experts, as I am not one. While I’m happy with how beautifully her hair turned out—her stylist De’ja executed the style very well and helped to better our visit by the end—I feel the overall experience could have been better. I hope the salon will consider this feedback to ensure every child and their family feel welcomed from the time they step foot into the salon.

First experience today was great! We were greeted immediately upon entering and our services were started promptly. My daughter enjoyed the experience and loved her hair. The salon was clean. The staff was personable. We will return!

I had such a wonderful experience getting my 3-year-old’s hair braided here! Deja was incredibly patient and gentle, making sure my little one felt comfortable throughout the entire process. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, which made the experience so much more enjoyable for both of us. I’m so happy with the beautiful braids and will definitely be returning. Highly recommend!!

I have been bringing my daughter here for 2.5 years because we love the stylists here. My daughter started off doing well with the whole process but after a few successful visits she became very anxious and would not let the stylist finish. (My daughter has a lot of very thick hair!) Anisha coached me through how to prepare my daughters hair and scalp for appointments and to get regular trims and hydration treatments to make the process easier and less painful. She scheduled us for when no other kids were there to limit overstimulation and took extra time to talk my daughter through each step and chatted her up to take her mind off the anxiety. All of this together with a new clear and consistent reward system that I set up for my daughter, and lots of praying, we have only had successful visits since! Anisha is professional, skilled, and fast! My daughter’s hair looks great for a long time after each visit.

I have been bringing my daughter here for a little more than 6 months and I absolutely love it. Mrs. Anisha and Deja are excellent at what they do and truly care about the health of my daughters hair and THE STYLES LAST!! From the first visit (daughter’s first salon experience) we felt extremely comfortable. They always communicate with me and my daughter to make sure that it’s what we want and my daughter looks forward to her appointments. Not to mention how much healthier my daughter’s hair has become! #BlackOwnedBusiness✅ #WomanOwnedBusiness✅

I'm disappointed in the overall experience. This salon was recommended on FB and I am sure have had wonderful experiences but mine wasn't the case. I won't be booking again but my experience was mine. Things did start off positive and that was and still is something I appreciated.

I have been bringing my daughter to Childish Mane for the past 3 years. Her hair is healthier and thicker since Anisha has been doing her hair. She loves the hair styles that are created for her. Love this salon because it is designed for children and it makes them feel comfortable. They take extra special care with first timers. There may be tears shed in the beginning, but once they are done there is nothing but huge smiles on their faces.

This was my daughters first time getting her hair done professionally and we’ll absolutely be back! No tears, and our stylist Deja was amazing! Incredibly patient, gentle, and provided tips with how to maintain her style. The salon was quiet, calm and well maintained. Can’t say enough good things!

Horrible experience! I would recommend a pet groomer before sending a child to this place. There was one little girl there when we arrived & she was crying. I should have taken that as a sign to turn around and leave. I took my 3-year-old niece in for shampoo & blow dry. The woman working there was incredibly impatient and too rough with her. First, she washed her hair without putting a towel over her shoulders so her t-shirt was soaked. She was too aggressive to be working with a child. When she got her in the chair to blow dry her hair, she was pulling so hard that my niece started crying. This little one gets her hair done regularly and has never had an experience like this. Because my niece was crying, she turned up the heat on the dryer to finish faster, which caused more discomfort for my niece. At this point, I was done with her. The salon worker put my nieces hair in a ponytail without running a comb through it, then went to the iPad to complete my point of sale. She flipped the tablet around, told me I could pay with a card, and walked away. I couldn't believe she would include an option to tip. Here's my tip - don't take your child to this place!! I left there and went to Jazmin Dominican hair salon in the mall. After a few hugs and promises, they finished a shampoo, blow dry & style without a single tear. Please spare your child the trauma and avoid this salon. Drive a little further or pay a little more. I promise, it will be well worth it.

I took my daughter to get her hair done for school. Deja was very patient with my daughter who is 4 years old. She was fast and usually my daughter would cry but with Deja she didn’t. She was very knowledgeable and gave me tips for caring for my daughter’s hair. I will definitely bring my daughter back to get her hair braided

Shay was wonderful, so sweet and gave me great tips to keep my daughter’s hair healthy. My daughter loves her hair! I recommend the salon but do not under any circumstance book with Deja. I was warned before I booked to not book with Deja as she has a reputation of being impatient with kids (crazy as a kid stylist, right?). She was so unwelcoming, rude and nasty to me and my 2 young children (1 & 4) even followed us out to our car. My 4 year old said she never wants to see that bad lady again. I was alarmed by Deja’s unprofessional behavior and frankly felt unsafe, unsure what she was capable of outside of the salon. Thankfully, the owner resolved the issue and we were able to have a pleasant experience with Shay. But again, parents, avoid Deja at all costs.

First visit, if I could give 10 stars I would. Miss De’Ja was amazing!! My daughter’s never been to a salon, and also has a very sensitive scalp. Not only was Miss De’Ja professional and kind. She was patient and educational through the process making me and my daughter feel welcome, cared about and serviced with a calm and kind heart. We also purchased the Hair Say book by Anisha, that is an amazing book to encourage young girls to embrace their natural hair. The experience was perfect, the salon is clean and welcoming! Can’t wait to return.

I have had wonderful experiences overall with a specific stylist however, I do have constructive criticism for the owner and her professionalism. I’ve been taking my child to childish mane since the beginning of this year and I must say, I would NEVER book with the owner Anisha. I have seen her slap a child’s hands out of her head, talk negatively about clients after they leave, dismiss complaints and discomfort from the children she services and overall just doesn’t seem like she enjoys the career she chose. I always look at her when I’m there and I’m always baffled at how she can have a business involving children knowing she clearly doesn’t have the patience or manners to deal with them. It’s a very cute shop and I love her other employees however I want her to be mindful that people are watching. If she wants to keep her shop and license, I suggests she take her clients negative feedback to better her business instead of getting defensive when someone has a complaint. As long as my child’s regular stylist works there I will be bring my child back. Well wishes

My sons were booked at childish man's upon booking my appointment i spoke with owner i had some concerns because given the recommendation i still was worried about my oldest son Sebastian who is on the spectrum. I wanted to be sure that they were used to sensory aversions. I was assured they are so i booked the appointment i booked 1 at 4pm for my oldest and another at 5:30 for my youngest. The day came for the appointments and even after hyping them up my oldest wasn't here for it; apparently he wouldn't get into the chair and screamed a bit. My dad advised me they had a no screaming policy and that he couldn't get his hair done my youngest was fine. My dad called me to pay a total of $115.00 i was like wait that seems kind of high so i had my dad walk back in to find out why i was being charged $30 for a same day no show the owner of the shop proceeded to get on the phone and speak in an aggressive tone when i asked why i was being charged $30 and told me i had booked 3 appointments for my kids when i only have confirmation for 2 in square instead of looking into it as i proceeded to send the confirmations via screenshot to my dad she proceeded to tell me she should've charged me full price anyway and that i got off easy with the $30 and still was speaking in an aggressive tone i proceeded to tell her there was no reason to get hyped up i confirmed she was the owner and just said thank you word of mouth and service are everything. I'm a pretty easygoing person i would've just agreed to disagree my babies happiness and quality means more than splitting hairs over $30 but the fee was never reviewed with me and she was just rude. I'm pretty sure they did a good job with my youngest hair haven't seen it will post it here once i get home but customer lost and if anybody asks i will not recommend nobody should spoken to that way especially when just trying to confirm policy...additionally one of my sons left their ipad there i tracked it via find my; it was discovered post my yelp review and interaction with the very rude owner..needless to say my son's ipad was "not there" this was a very sad and unfortunate experience from a black business owner in the community

I am very disappointed with their customer service. After putting my name in the list when I got in their shop, they denied giving a hair cutting. They asked us to come after 2 hours. Their online system is very poor as I put my name, phone, and email in. It should have shown me the time remaining. Note: I got there at 3.50 and their shop closes at 4.45 and they asked me to come after they close the shop. I think these all because of loose management and poor training or they never care for the other but money. Reply to the below: I know that now you now you will be trying to say positive things. That is very normal. Lol, then why the representative told me to come after 2 hours. How irresponsible, poor online system that can wsate customers' valuable time and what loose management! Moreover, it is very poor customer service.

I have been bringing my daughter here for almost a year and I absolutely love this place. I live an hour away and it is absolutely worth the drive. Mrs. Anisha is excellent at what she does and truly cares about the health of my daughters hair and the styles last!! From the first visit we felt very comfortable and my daughter looks forward to her appts and interaction with Mrs. Anisha. They have truly become family!

I wouldn't give my business again. They charge 200 dollars for a detangling service and they just rip through your child's hair. I chose this salon based on catering to children. I literally had to walk over the assistan/front desk girl who was ripping out my child's hair and was told by the stylist, whom I set an appointment up with that I was unable to do hair in the salon. The problem is that she took another client (a walk in) while my child was under the dryer. They are not experienced in detangling services I saw twice the tension behind the coming to where the hands were shaking. Smh my child was highly upset and I was told my child was "talking back" bec he was frustrated and upset and was asking to take a break. My appointment was at 2pm and we didn't leave until 5. I asked my child to at least let's get blown dry as we had a family even to attend after the appointment. Hair was not styled. And I was charged fill price. What out the icing on the cake was at the end of it all before we walked out they were talking about another client who cancelled the next day who was austistic. The stylist who was servicing my son said " God really came through on that one" whos comemment was meant with agreement.

We have been twice - once for a cut and the second time to have my daughters hair braided for the first time. They do a great job keeping the kids occupied and comfortable. The style was beautiful and held up through a vacation which included lots of saltwater swimming.

We love Childish Mane! Every time we have been here they are always friendly and professional! I love how they always try their best to get you in at last minute as well as always being open to answering my questions I have about maintaining the care of my childrens hair! I have had experiences multiple times where the stylist will cancel 30 mins before my appointment time and at Childish Mane they will never do that! They always make my daughter feel beautiful and welcomed when she leaves there and comes in for her appointment. Thank you Childish Mane! We will now be Childish Mane regulars! ❤️

We love childish mane!! Mrs Anisha is so kind and warming. She started out doing my son’s hair which was very tender headed and he said mom she’s so gentle 😊 now she does my 2.5 year old hair and she’s still so patient through all the crying and screaming. I would recommend her to anyone children’s style ! She’s the absolute BEST 🤞🏽

My first experience here was AWESOME. Deja is very personable and moves extremely fast. She was very patient with my daughter and made sure she was happy with her style and that I was pleased with the overall service as her mom.
