After Nica and Sam’s closed on 9av, the owners of that have relocated here. Only been disappointed with a haircut once… when I needed to book with someone who isn’t my usual. Otherwise, it’s been fantastic. It’s great to have people who will work with you to figure out the best cut, and then remember what it is and how you like it. So stress-free it’s delightful.

Been a costumer since 2021 With Nicole,Nica and Anvar, i never change them unless there is no one else to do my hair last i discovered that they blocked me from going cause last time i went the guy who did my hair was so aggressive and i told him he was hurting me and he didn’t apologize i didn’t tell him anything after i finished and told the lady in the front that i didn’t like my hair so they said they can’t help me and gave me a refund i understood that because the salon was busy! But why block me from going when i wasn’t rude ? Or disrespectful and i didn’t even ask for a refund? They just gave me back the money I am shocked cause i was really a loyal customer and i was always so nice to all of them. Is it bad that i didn’t like my hair?

Best salon I’ve ever tried to get my hair done. Nicole was my stylist, the woman you see on the left right next to the front desk. She was so friendly and professional, with good vibes. She has great communication skills and high knowledge of the technical part of the work, neatness and accuracy. What’s more, she maintains a positive attitude throughout the duration of an appointment. The place itself welcoming and inviting, greeted by staff. I def recommend her and the salon. I became a regular customer since then.

CityStar Hair Salon I think is the new iteration of Nica and Sam. I met Nicole last night for a walk in hair cut (skipped the wash and blowout). The team did a great job meeting my needs and listening to what I wanted. We skipped the small talk and I had a fab haircut within 45 minutes for $57 (w/o tip) and without any extra bells and whistles or pushing to sell me product. The salon is neat, clean, and well lit. They're bilingual (I think Russian) if that's a pro for you. My cut was a little rushed (I walked in at 6:30 and was out by 7:10, they close at 7:30) and I saw they turned down another walk in after me. Value for time and outcome are excellent.

I have visited this salon three times, and despite my polite interactions and generous tips, their level of professionalism has consistently fallen short. Even their demeanor does not convey that they regard me as a valued customer. Today, I returned as usual, only to regret my visit. The staff treated me with significant rudeness and unprofessionalism. When I spoke to the receptionist about receiving service, she abruptly signaled to her colleagues that they could not assist me and that I should leave. I pointed out that the salon was empty, but one of the staff members, who was busy with another customer, approached me and loudly insisted that they did not want to serve me and that I should leave. He claimed to be the owner and reiterated that I needed to go. This experience left me feeling very upset and led me to believe that this establishment is unprofessional, racist, and lacking in basic standards of courtesy, as if it were not in America. I deeply regret visiting this salon.

I love City Star! I have been going to their other location, Nica and Sam, for years, and the staff at City Star are just as professional and lovely. I have had my hair cut and colored by several different people, and they are all equally skilled. Their stylists are some of the only people I’ve found who can cut my bangs in the way that I like. Everyone is kind and courteous, and Sam (one of the owners) always greets me by name. Their prices are reasonable as well. I would recommend this salon to anyone!

I been coming here since 2008 something has to be good;) Yes every procedure I get Haircuts, Blowouts, hair color/roots, Highlights I absolutely LOVE I don't even live in the hood anymore moved out 2016 I still return to get my hair done here. I Love the results I get amazing compliments I travel from Union Square its worth the trip every time! My stylist is KATE she is awesome I would be lost with out her. Try it for yourself You tell me :) Tell your Friends! You will love City Star. I leave feeling like a Star :) I Highly recommend this Salon. Love Hana

I went to this salon for the first time. I really liked the service of the blonde short hair lady. She did a great job and if you ask questions regarding your hair treatment she even answers genuinely.

Anvar has been my hairdresser for 8 years and I really appreciate his patience and attention to detail. I always bring references and links to new trendy haircuts and he will do his best to find a way to make the hairstyle work and fit my fine, unruly and fragile hair. He never rejects my wishes, even if the hairstyle doesn't suit my hair type. He is one of the master stylists in New York that I love coming back to for his mastery of bob (asymmetrical, angular, feathered, lob) and undercut styles.

This was the first time in my life I have ever felt bad for myself. I got a haircut by Anvar. My haircut looked like a broom after he just chopped it in a matter of 15 minutes. I guess he was in a rush since there was another client waiting for him. I politely commented that it looked very raw and unfinished. He replied to bring a photo of what I want next time. He rudely pulled the apron of of me and told to wait until he finishes his next client. I had to wait for another half an hour sitting there. He eventually redid my hair after which it still wasn’t satisfying but at that point all I cared about was to run from there as far as possible. I was charged $80 for a haircut that I was told would be $55 on the phone when I was booking my appointment. Honestly I have never experienced this bad of a customer service. I myself own an eyelash extension business and try to be as modest as possible when I am a client myself. That’s why I didn’t complain and left drama free. Long story short If you have hair don’t go there.

Nica is incomparable! She provides color and styling services for me. I trust her because she uses only quality products, delivers consistently excellent customer service, and has an intuitive sense of style. I have tan skin and wanted some color to freshen up my dull dark hair. She knew exactly how to balance lightness for darker hair / skin tones while maintaining a refined, sophisticated look. I absolutely love her! Amazing work!

Ever since having a few terrible haircuts when I was younger I have a bit of a fear trying out new salons but 5 and a half years later I’ve never had a bad experience here. I now have my haircut by Anwar who is always great and makes my hair feel great and pretty. No complaints here!

I been to hair salons recently, it’s very social and a fun place.I received my haircut from hairstylist Anvar,He is not very Social but gets the job done. I showed him a photo of what I want and he delivered it amazingly,the quality is very good.

This is my go-to salon while in New York City. I tried a LOT of salons until I found this one and I could not be happier. They take great care of me and my hair. They are true professionals. Special mention to Anwar and Nica. 100% recommend.

Got a terrible haircut for SO MUCH MONEY. I showed several inspiration pics, they said that it was totally reasonable and manageable for my hair type, then it came out looking NOTHING like the pics. Very disappointed in this— can’t wait for my hair to grow back.

Honestly the best salon I’ve ever been. I got really incredible balayage. Nica does really perfect job. Everybody is so friendly, the receptionist is so nice too. Thank you guys for such a good job. From know it’s definitely my favourite salon.
