Casey is absolutely wonderful to work with, this was my first haircut at a salon and he was spectacular with helping me figure out exactly what style I was looking for. He’s got major skills and is an amazing artist. On top of that, the communication about service, styles, and types of cuts that Albert provided prior to the appointment was an unexpected surprise. I felt incredibly cared for, heard, and will be coming back for my next cut as well as recommending Coda to anyone and everyone. Thank you all so much!

Amazing service! Casey is the best hairstylist I've ever worked with. He keeps detailed notes about my hair every session to ensure we're both clear on what I'm wanting. He is truly a gem! I feel really cared for AND my hair grows out beautifully every time. The salon is lovely and always smells good. Parking is easy. Highly recommend!!!

BEST HAIRCUT EVER! Casey is absolutely amazing at what he does and you won't regret choosing him as your stylist. His prices are honest and up-front, but be aware that when you come here, you're looking to both get and pay for a high-end haircut. Casey's services are worth every penny because he is super attentive and will spend as much time as needed to make sure your cut is perfect and exactly what you wanted. I have straight hair, but I tend to wear edgy/alt styles, so it can be really hard for me to find a stylist who doesn't give me the ol' "let me talk to your manager" Karen cut. I went to Casey for both a cut and colour, and his work absolutely blew me away! He's a stylist who is amazing at both listening and asking the right questions to make sure you get exactly the cut you are looking for. The space itself inside the salon is also amazing. Albert, Casey's partner who runs the administrative side of the business, is kind of an interior design genius and it really shows. The vibe of the space is extremely well crafted to create a calm and relaxing space with a rustic kind of atmosphere. TL;DR: You should call Casey to cut your hair. He will absolutely rock it!

I feel like the experience you get is definitely worth the price! They are super welcoming and really take the time to understand what you are after. The Salon looks great and is such a relaxed environment. I really appreciate Casey taking the time to do dry haircuts for me that feel lived in right away. Always leave feeling so refreshed!

I love love love seeing Janelle! The ambience is absolutely breathtaking. I haven't had my haircut in over six months and Janelle was very attentive to my needs, keeping the length while trimming up my layers. When I sat in the shampoo chair she asked if I would like a scalp treatment as well. It was amazing! I will for sure book with Janelle again and I certainly won't be waiting so long for a haircut!

I recently had my hair cut at Coda Salon for the first time. The salon has a comforting and welcoming environment. Janelle was my stylist and she was a delight. She listened to my thoughts on my hair cut and was able to give me a style that I loved. Between the relaxing massage and the wonderfully fragrant products my hair wash made me feel like I was in a spa. I will definitely be back!

I've gone to Casey at Coda twice now for a cut and consultation and all of my experiences with both him and Albert have been nothing short of stellar. Albert and Casey communicated with me frequently before during and after my appointments, with detailed information and pre/post appointment questions. I came to Casey with very little idea of how I wanted my hair cut and styled and, came out with the best cut and style I've ever had! In addition to a very detailed and thoughtful consultation, they assisted with product and aftercare recommendations as well as consistent follow-ups for additional questions or concerns. The quality of service and overall experience is the best I've seen at any salon anywhere, full stop. The space itself is private, light and airy, with lots of parking nearby. Prices are extremely reasonable for the quality and level of attentiveness to each individual customer, and I now can't imagine going anywhere else!

Janelle has been my hairdresser for the last 12 years, keeping my style updated and my heart happy. Her recent move to Coda seems to be a perfect fit. The space is so tranquil and full of natural light just like Janelle. I love the space and can't recommend it enough.

My experience at the Coda salon was exceptional. The haircut, and relaxing deep conditioning with ionic steam treatment, rejuvenated my hair. Janelle is lovely. she is so kind and warm hearted. she has a real passion for her work. Not only will she brighten your hair, she will brighten your day. The atmosphere of the salon is so tranquil. This is the self care everyone needs. I was able to quiet my mind and focus on the present. The natural light from the skylights and windows is beautiful. All the plants and artwork make you feel at home. I would highly recommend making an appointment with Janelle. You must experience this salon for yourself!!

My sister in law Amber, and I are beyond thrilled with the results of our hair. Casey is an amazing scientist and master when it comes to hair and both he and Albert know what they are doing. Their shop is absolutely chic and adorable and feels comfortable. We cannot wait to go back, sad to say that they do such an amazing job we won't have to go back so soon because their aftercare is included, but we will find a way. The coda salon is a welcomed oasis from your otherwise busy life. Not only does it feel intimate, the decor and plants transport you to a place of calm and relaxation. Janelle is incredible with coloring, and a master of the cut. I have auburn curly hair, which she has always cut to perfection, and has also helped me embrace said curls, by sharing some great tips and tricks. Highly recommend!

What gem this salon is! It's right in the heart of the pearl district but also tucked away up in a gorgeous old top-floor Brooklyn-style loft, with original woodwork, hight windows, a skylight, and a lovely cafe on street level. The salon space has a great vibe, both laidback and relaxing and yet elegant and inspiring. Janelle is the best hairstylist I have ever met. She always does a fantastic job--she listens carefully and she gives me an effortlessly perfect cut every time. She clearly loves what she does and is incredibly skilled at her craft. She is also such a warm and wonderful person and such a pleasure to chat with that getting my haircut is always the highlight of my week. I've been to several salons around Portland (and in the pearl) and I can say that you won't find anything like Coda, it's so unique --it's like your own little zen space for a slice of your day (I love the little touches like the tree hanging over you when you get your shampoo by the skylight window). And if you're looking for your best haircut ever, just book with Janelle and you can't go wrong.

I can't recommend Coda enough. Casey and Albert run their salon with such intentionality and really take the time to listen to your wants and concerns. I love that they ask about your vision before the appointment and felt like the advance preparation helped curate a more personal style. The individual approach is refreshing compared to most salons I've been to and I'm loving my new cut. Will absolutely return.

I thoroughly enjoyed my experience at Coda Salon. They freshened up my previous balayage and it looks better than any other balayage I’ve had done in the past. They considered the texture of my hair and gave me a cut that fits my hair much better than what I had before. Overall extremely impressed and would return in a heartbeat!

I went along with my boyfriend who found this salon and booked himself an appointment. He had been growing his hair out for years, and was not quite sure what he wanted to do with it. Casey had ideas and took the time to talk through them, come up with a plan to ease him into a big change, and ultimately ended up giving him a great cut we are both super happy with. His care for the client's mental adjustment to a big change like cutting off 7 years of hair is unlike anything I have seen in many years of going to various salons, and won me over immediately. Casey really took the time to do a great cut and show him how to style his new hair. The space is wonderful and relaxing with lots of great plants. It is a very clean shop, taking only 1 person at a time. There is a couch to sit on if you are taking someone along with you. I brought a book, but did not need it. Albert and Casey were very nice to chat with in their wonderfully open space. Highly highly recommend.

Let me first start by saying both Albert and Casey were a pleasure to work with and my hair results are beyond amazing. I’ve never been as pleased with a salon experience and the finished product. Casey is an amazing stylist and he’s so easy to talk to. The salon is adorable and I loved collaborating with Casey! I received a thorough consultation before my appointment and felt confident I would receive my desired hair goals before the work began. This review is long overdue. I’ve visited this salon for about 8 months and I won’t go anywhere else. It’s one of the very few times I’ve been able to show the hairstylist a reference photo and I get EXACTLY what I wanted. Casey is SO knowledgeable and talented. I love the atmosphere here and the one on one time I get with them. I feel like all my hair concerns and wants are addressed.

I found Coda Salon right after I moved to Portland, and I’m so glad I did! The salon is super covid-safe with only one chair. Casey is an absolute artist with hair and has given me my favorite haircut and coloring. He really listens to what you want and cares about your hair goals. I have received so many compliments on my hair. I couldn’t recommend them more and I won’t go anywhere else!

What an amazing experience! I’m new to Portland and I thought the process of finding (and loving) a local stylist would be a daunting one. I was initially drawn to Coda Salon by the extremely positive reviews and pictures of past work. What sealed it for me was the the ease of scheduling, excellent communication, privacy, how warm, inviting and attentive both Albert and Casey are...and of course I love my haircut and color! Albert was very professional and thorough on the phone (we called four places and his consultation on the phone was the very best). Casey was a blast to chat with , he went over the details of what I wanted , checked my reference photos, offered his advice, and created a great look for me. These two were such a great experience in both hair service and in offering a self care/wellness service in general. I recommend you call them and see for yourself. He listens carefully to what you want and pays close attention to detail, walking you through the steps of what he’s doing along the way. With an incredibly individualized approach, he assessed my haircare needs with great insight, he took his time, and educated me on what’s best for my hair type and goals. Plus, he took great care in making me feel heard and important as a client. I walked out of there feeling more confident than I had in a long time, and I can’t wait to go back. Additionally, Albert is prompt, attentive, and wonderfully communicative.
