I highly, highly recommend this hair salon. Not only is it a very chic place (that smelled amazing, but everyone that works there is so lovely. I had my haircut by Courtney who is such a sweet person. I am pretty particular about my hair, and she blew me away with her talent. She exceeded my expectations and made me feel and look phenomenal. I live in NJ, but would happily fly out to have Courtney cut and style my hair in the future!!

My partner and I have been coming here since we moved to town in 2020. Our stylist Lane is always open to trying out new ideas and styling. He has gone above and beyond and came in early on his day off when I needed that perfect cut for a job interview.

Shout out to Lane!!! He saved my hair. I was looking rough. First time getting my hair done or cut in Columbus and thankfully I made the right choice. I gave him some artistic freedom and trusted him. He knocked it out of the park. I have super thick and difficult to manage hair and he thinned it out and made it so much easier to manage. Now I can go to work and look more presentable. This is gonna make the coming spring and summer days more enjoyable. Prices are super reasonable too. Highly recommend! The spot is super cool and has very creative vibes. Will definitely be back to get another trim in the future.

I’ve been a client of Kate for a few years now and i’d follow her to the end of the earth- luckily Co.Lab is just a couple miles down the street. The vibe at Co.Lab is inviting, friendly, fun and comfortable. The staff is professional, creative and welcoming. No matter who you see there, they will talk to you about what you want and how it will work with your hair and your lifestyle. It’s a true collaboration between you and your stylist and it establishes the trust and confidence you need! So if you’re looking for a salon that is local, but not “big box “ (you know, the ones where you don’t actually know your stylists real name), then Co.Lab is the right fit. Give them a try- you won’t regret it!

WOW! It is January 2023, and the call I received back from the Co.Lab Hair salon owner, Kate, today makes me feel like it is January 1963. Two weeks ago, I consulted with a representative Leigh in the salon; my hair was naturally curly at the appointment, and I showed her and the owner a photo of the desired color. Leigh quickly educated me on the process, which I appreciated. We decided on a two-phased approach, and I agreed to start with just an overall color and return for highlights at a separate time. They asked me to schedule an appointment after the consult, and I decided to schedule at another time. After attempting to schedule an appointment today, the owner, Kate, told me that they would not service me due to the TEXTURE of my hair and suggested I go elsewhere for this basic color service. This was hurtful and not the same message I received on the day of the consult. In addition, while searching for an explanation on why she could not service me, she called me a "liar" because she didn't believe that the sun had lightened parts of my hair. I found this word choice abrasive and inappropriate. During our conversation, I realized that her unwillingness to service me had nothing to do with my hair but a deeper underlying message that she was trying to convey. It is very disappointing that a business in the Short North believes this is an okay way to treat a potential customer. I suggest this salon revamp its website to state the type of hair they want to service and clearly state, “Have textured hair? No service”!

After having gone to the same stylist for almost 4 years she moved to Israel and I was lost trying to find someone new to go to. Luckily I found this gem of a place and Lane. You always feel welcomed stepping in, the salon is clean and ran professionally with an upbeat attitude, and Lane is great at what he does. It’s located conveniently, you are remembered by name and style, and it’s a great experience every time. Couldn’t recommend more!

Amber is absolutely awesome! I have been a client of hers for years and have been very satisfied with the professionalism and knowledge she provides. At Co.Lab, every stylist at the studio is always so kind and welcoming. Their customer service and professionalism is the best around the city. Amber is the most charismatic and talented person to ever do my hair!! She is up to date on every hair trend I’ve ever thrown at her and so patience and accommodating. CUTTING through the red tape No nonsense, honest to gosh haircuts offered here. Quality is superb: blades are sharp, stylists are stylish (but not too stylish), and the combs are confirmed disinfected with the mystery blue liquid (spoiler alert: it doesn’t taste good mixed with Goose). The people here understand me, my needs, and all of my individuals hairs. Lane is great…high quality at an honest price, especially when you calculate the cost on a per-hair basis (rounds to zero). Also – no red tape! Better than the post office downtown that RUNS OUT OF STAMPS. These guys have never run out of haircuts (yet). Come here if you want a great haircut, easy experience, friendly stylists, and a smashing décor. Avoid if you prefer like long lines, high prices, and uncut hair.

For almost a decade now, I've been searching for a hair stylist that understood *exactly* what I wanted, and consistently delivered upon multiple visits. I had my third haircut here today, and I can confidently say that my search is over. Lane Grimes is a great hair stylist, I highly recommend. In general as well, CO.LAB Hair Studio is a very welcoming space. Everyone who works here is very good at what they do, and I don't see myself ever visiting nor recommending another hair studio in the Columbus area. Great experience!

Lane has been my go-to hairstylist for an incredible 10 years now! He has an amazing sense of style and an ability to give me a haircut that fits my look and personality perfectly. He's always been great at paying attention to the little details to make sure my cut is just right. Whether I want to keep it classic or try something new, Lane knows exactly what to do. I can't imagine going to anyone else for a haircut
