I can’t believe I almost forgot to leave a review for this incredible salon, and especially for Laurel Rains! She truly is a magician when it comes to hairstyling. The way she transformed my hair was nothing short of magical! I received compliments that far exceeded my expectations, and I couldn’t be happier with the stunning hairstyle she created. The entire atmosphere of the salon was warm and welcoming, with staff that went above and beyond to ensure a fantastic experience. I absolutely love this salon and will definitely be returning to Laurel for my future hair needs. I can't recommend her highly enough! A few years back my friend who did hair retired and since then I’ve been bouncing from salon to salon trying to find someone new. I’ve had various disappointments everywhere until I came to the Collective Salon and met Laura P. She understands exactly what I want done to my hair and also has her own ideas when I’m undecided, she accommodates my disabilities with kindness and care and always goes out of her way to make sure I’m happy with my hair. On top of that she’s great to talk to during the appointment! Thank you for everything you do and looking forward to my next cut!

I’m stunned by an experience with The Collective Salon, my go-to vendor for hair care during the past 18 months. I learned yesterday what their true priority is, and it is most definitely not “legendary service”, as their company writeup insists. (Forgive the length of this post, but I believe you may find it useful.) It’s all about the money. Here’s how I know. Yesterday, our beloved 32-year-old African Grey parrot was clearly in distress and our veterinarian advised us to rush him to the clinic. Only an hour away from my 1 p.m. appointment at The Collective, I immediately texted and voice-mailed my stylist, apologizing for the cancellation, offering to pay a cancellation fee, and advising her that I would re-book and would be tipping her an extra $100 for a Christmas bonus, over and above my normal tip for service. That pledge was clearly insufficient. When I called the salon directly to explain my situation, zero empathy was forthcoming. Instead, I was told that I would “only” be charged $140, half of the $280 charged for a color highlight. Apparently, they thought a $140 penalty was a generous concession over their normal full-price charge. To say that I was stunned was putting it mildly. But I should not have been. Here’s what to expect the minute you sign up with this salon: 1. You must give them your full credit card detail “to hold” in case of cancellation. 2. You will be charged full price for any service cancelled within 24 hours of the visit.(or is it 48 hours?) I can understand a cancellation fee – my last salon charged $50. But FULL PRICE? And absolutely no exceptions? During my decades-long tenure as a communications consultant, I gave countless fee-free hours to clients when I felt the situation was warranted and would contribute to a healthy, balanced vendor-client relationship. It’s called ‘the cost of doing business,’ folks. But The Collective Salon begs to differ. In fairness to my stylist, a talented woman whose company I enjoyed and work I appreciated, she did begrudgingly offer to forgo any penalty to keep my patronage. But her outrage was obvious, and I declined. Instead, I called the salon and told them to charge my credit card the full $280 – a last hurrah from me to a salon that puts money above all else. They did so immediately. Here are other random notes that may shed light on working with the Collective Salon: • They charge Oak Lawn prices without Oak Lawn amenities. You will be treated to rock-hard, molded plastic chairs – genuinely uncomfortable – whether undergoing a shampoo or sitting beneath the dryer. They will serve you a diet coke, but this is otherwise a bare-bones salon. • You will be hounded via text and phone to ensure you show up for your appointment. And clearly, family emergencies do not factor into the customer-client relationship. Cherished pet or beloved relative – a death in the family doesn’t count. Pay up. In full. Immediately. As for Capote, my witty and wonderful avian companion of more than three decades, we wept and held him close as he died.

I’ve been a client of Laura P’s for about two years now, and I am so glad I found her! I like having fun with my hair and change the color often. After moving back to Texas, I went through several stylists that either couldn’t achieve what I asked for or just flat out refused to try. Not Laura! And she nails it every time—even did an excellent job on my hair color for my wedding! Couldn’t recommend her enough.

I’ve been getting my hair done with Jordin for nearly 5 years now. I should’ve probably written this review a long time ago, but here we are. I have curly hair, and she specializes in curly cuts. I initially sought out a professional hairstylist post-pandemic when I had bleached my own hair at home and needed help badly. Jordin never judged me for the mess I made (lol). On the contrary, she made me feel gorgeous, gave me a lovely cut and color, and I haven’t stopped going to her since. I just got my hair done again, and she’s great at reviving my curls when it’s time for a cut. I also love what she can do with color. I’m happily surprised and pleased every time. I highly recommend her no matter what you’re looking for. She’s honest and lovely and does really great work. I know she will be my stylist for as long as she’s in Dallas. I love Laura P. I went gray during Covid but it wasn't a pretty gray. Laura suggested a process to brighten/enrich my color without too much maintenance. Look at the difference! She is a magician with color and I love her haircuts too. She really makes an effort to give you a great outcome every time.

After bouncing around to different salons and stylists, Laurel Rains has been my go-to girl for my quarterly cut + balayage + gloss for over seven years now. Laurel is kind, easy to talk to and SO good with color - she nails it every time. One of the best in Dallas! The salon is clean and modern - I look forward to each visit. Highly recommend!

Rebecca is THE BEST!!!!! I’ve been going to her for years and wouldn’t go anywhere else. I have long, blonde, and thick hair. I like the natural blonde look and have gone to hairdressers in the past that have made my hair look fake but Rebecca works magic and gets my hair exactly how I want. Every time I go in we have a great time, I always look forward to seeing her!

Laurel has been doing my color and cut for years. I make the drive from Tulsa to see her every 12 weeks. Laurel is professional, sweet, professional and above all- consistent. The hairdresser business has evolved and it’s difficult to find someone who can do both services at a reasonable price. You can find specialists who either just cuts hair or specialize in color but it’s hard to find someone who does both well. I’m extremely lucky to have found Robin 15 years ago. She does an amazing job with both cut & color and stays up to date with trends & techniques. When I met her, I was struggling with the texture of my hair, I didn’t know why my hair was dry and brittle. Robin suggested I check my thyroid. She was correct. Today, my thyroid and hormones are more balanced and the texture of my hair is normal. I continue to struggle with thinning hair but Robin cuts my hair in a manner that maximizes the volume. I say she’s a magician!! 😊

Worst service ever! I called to make an appointment and specifically asked how much it would be for a root touch-up. They said $60 flat. But when I went in, the total ended up being $170 because they charge per ounce if they use more color. Seriously? I also didn't book a blowout, but the stylist started giving me one. When I asked if it was included, she stopped and got mad about it. And to top it off, my hair turned out so dark that almost all my highlights are gone. This place is the worst. I will NEVER be coming back. Awful service and customer care, the hairstylist was the most RUDE.

I specifically sought out Laura to color/cut/style my hair upon researching for stylists online and coming across photos of her portfolio. AND LET ME JUST TELL YOU HOW TALENTED SHE IS. I had booked my initial appointment/consultation with her back in November, telling her I wanted to do something ‘wild’. Laura suggested the idea & turned my hair into the MOST gorgeous, forest green color I have ever seen. I have never received so many compliments about my hair, especially from who I’d least expected. As someone who used to dye her hair all sorts of wild colors, I have never once experienced walking out of a salon to immediately receive a compliment with whom it came from a middle-aged man (silver fox) saying, “that’s a really cool color! I like that a lot, it looks great.” Laura did such an incredible job, and is extremely talented. I trust her to do basically anything to my hair. Top stylist in the DFW, no argument. Will 1000x recommend her to anyone looking for a stylist.

I’ve been thinking about doing a review for days now. But overall have been just so disappointed that I feel compelled to. I was in Dallas for a trip and needed a haircut. I found this salon with great reviews and decided to make an appointment. They were able to get me in same day which was great. I’m used to not seeing the same stylist for my hair and rarely have a bad experience. When I met with my stylist, I explained to her some issues I was having with my hair and what I was trying to achieve, also letting her know that I was not afraid of any suggestions like going shorter, bangs, whatever, I was just looking for something new and fresh. When she completed cutting my hair and started styling, I could start to tell that there was an issue. When she was done, my hair looked the same as what I came in with. It was flat and boring, the exact opposite of what I had asked for. I asked her to try curling it to see if that would help. She attempted to curl my hair, which only made it look worse somehow. She could see I was disappointed. The look on the stylist face told me she didn’t think it looked good either. She asked if I wanted to have another stylist come over and do my hair. I agreed but then she couldn’t find anyone. Another, very friendly stylist did end up coming over and attempting to help by recurling my hair with a more appropriate iron and technique. This helped some but not much. I paid $95 for this haircut which I think is the most I’ve ever paid for just a cut and style to only receive a trim and poor styling. It was the most disappointing trip to the salon I’ve had. When I got home and tried to style my hair with my own familiar tools, it was just more of the same. I got nothing I asked for, paid way to much and the stylist I had, Laura I think was her name, appeared to lack confidence in her own work or ability. I was thankful for the second woman that came over to help. I wish she had had more time to do my hair but was working with another client at the time. Just overall, a very disappointing and expensive trip. This was definitely not worth the money. The salon was nice, the people were nice. My stylist was nice, just didn’t seem like a confident person and this was reflected in her overall appearance as well.

Laura recently did my hair and did an amazing job. I have been going to her for cuts and color for years and have been so happy. I specifically ask for color that can grow out and still look good so that I don’t have to get it colored often. She kills it every time even though it means I don’t need to come see her as often. Highly recommend her!!!

Laura worked wonders on my hair! She’s been my stylist for the better part of a decade and knocks it out of the park every time. Shes taken me from long hair to a bob and back again, blonde to really blonde to red and back to blonde, all with minimal damage to my super fine, curly hair. Speaking of which, she is also amazing at curly cuts and helped me figure out how to properly style my curls! She also styled my hair for my wedding and made me feel so incredibly beautiful. I can’t say enough how great my experiences have been. Even though I don’t live in Dallas anymore, I still make the drive every few months to have her fix me up. She’s that good. I’ve also had experiences with some of the other ladies at the salon and everyone there is so sweet and amazing at what they do. HIGHLY recommend this salon!

Laura is my go to girl!! She did her usual magic and transformed my hair!! We decided to do a big cut this time and took off 9 inches; my hair has never looked better and I'm obsessed! Go to Laura for all your color, cut, styling needs - you will not be disappointed!!
