I came in not knowing how to take better care of my hair or maximize my curls and I left with so much knowledge about my hair and more confidence as well as a beautiful cut. Daria truly loves to teach - it's not just about getting one specific look it's about giving you the tools and techniques you can then practice at home. 10/10 would recommend Colour Theory and Daria.

Daria really helped me with my hydrate and define sets. Now I feel confident doing them on my own. She also has great energy and makes you feel comfortable in her salon. She is very patient and also passionate about hair health and empowers you to do your own hair at home.

I would highly recommend Daria. She did a great job on my hair. She thoroughly explained what she was doing and the products she used. She took time to ask me what I wanted for my hair. I loved the finished product. She got me in and out of her chair and even validated my parking. I will definitely be back!

Daria has been an absolutely amazing stylist! She is always punctual and in tune with my needs. I have alot of all allergies and super thick 4C hair, she never made me feel like a hassle to work with from my hair to the product. She has taught me to love and do my hair and Im forever grateful. I get so many compliments and my hair has flourished since becoming her client. Just do whatever she says!

Daria is a sweetheart who listens, who teaches and who delivers. I've been natural, but still struggling with my WNG. She helped w/hands on teaching, coaching me w/product selection and recommendations and then ended with a bomb cut/shape. She followed up and offered further coaching and that was a nice added service. I look forward to reaching my hair goals w/her assistance. Book her, she's a vibe, you won't regret it!

I re-started my natural hair journey after being completely jaded by my last natural cut. Though the experience of a big chop will always be emotional, Daria consistently remained positive. She listened to my concerns and has gone above and beyond with answering my many questions - far after my appointments! Her reminders are incredibly helpful in keeping my hair journey and she really does care for the journey of her clients!

I visited Daria for a define + cut master class in March. I was quite nervous because of some recent hair challenges I’d had and needed a change for my upcoming birthday. Although this was my first service with her, I immediately felt comfortable with Daria and she helped me choose the best cut for my hair. I’m still receiving so many complements! As someone who (formerly) struggled with wash and go’s, the master class took out all of the guesswork when it came on the products and techniques. I’m looking forward to my next visit!

I've been to Daria for two appointments now and I can confidently say that she has completely improved my confidence and comfort with wearing my (type 4) hair in its natural curl pattern via wash & gos. Although I've been natural my entire life, I've learned so much with our brief sessions. Daria has is also very responsive and provides great resources to her clients in between appointments. I look forward to continue to work with Daria on my hair journey.

To get your hair done by Daria is a natural haircare experience! I first began going to @colourtheorybeauty about 2 years ago. I’ve been a loyal and consistent client since, which is shown in the health of my tresses. Witnessing my natural haircare journey under the professional care of Daria, has been nothing short of amazing. My hair is the healthiest its ever been. @colourtheorybeauty offers a plethora of services, which equates to my wants and needs always being met. Being a client of Daria is literallyyy haircare goals.

Daria is a really lovely person and just based off of her personality and how much I enjoyed her company I'm giving 3 stars. Unfortunately there were a few things that left me disappointed. If you prefer round edgless shapes for your hair you may need to go elsewhere. I'm not a fan of taper cuts, sharp edges, or those triangle cuts a lot of the wash n go girlies have. I dont think this stylist had much experience in round cuts. I gave free range to cut off as much hair as nessecary for the look I was going for and left with a hair cut that was nothing like I wanted. I has brought multiple pictures and stated explicitly I do not like taper cuts, or Sasuke Uchiha-esque cut. I had plenty of length and density. What I left with looked closer to the sharp tapered cut Daria was wearing if anything. The back of my head was left very short while the front was significantly longer. It was a tapered cut. There were also uneven parts, I had a part by my front right ear that hung awkwardly and still reached my collarbone when pulled taut, while directly behind that section the hair stopped directly in the middle of my ear. I tried to let it grow keeping the faith it would fluff out into a look i liked but it never did. I eneded up using a pair of professional shears and giving myself a cut much closer to the look I wanted and was happier. But still, due to the extreme taper I received I still have to wait for the back of my head to catch up to get anything resembling the rounder look I was going for even after cutting a decent amount from the top and sides to try and match. Besides the haircut she was also an hour late to an appointment she had already pushed back. 🥲 She's a nice person, and besides the tardiness was professional and fun to chat with. If you do like tapered cuts she may be the stylist for you.

I booked with Daria to get a curly cut for the first time in several years, I was super nervous about the appointment because I’ve historically had poor experiences with stylists who cut my hair. That being said, this was the BEST haircut I’ve ever received. She asked for reference pictures of haircuts I liked in advance as well as a description of my hair care routine. When I got into the salon she was super patient and listened to all of the concerns I had along with the type of shape I wanted. She walked me through the different steps we took while styling my hair, educated me about the wash and go I was getting, and then proceeded to show me everything step while cutting my hair. She was super personable, made me feel very comfortable, and is extremely educated about natural hair care. Would 10000% recommend and am looking forward to going back for another cut in the future.

What a wonderful experience! Daria has such an inviting and welcoming spirit. She took time to really understand what I was looking for and did a fabulous job giving me just that! I am not a new naturalista. I have been natural for 9 years, make my own oil mixtures and pre-poos and do a wonderful job styling my hair. So, I thought there was nothing that Daria could teach me. Well, I was wrong! I learned how to get BOUNCY natural hair with fewer steps. Thank you Daria. I am looking forward to continuing my journey and my hair color appointment.

Daria is amazing! The salon is a very comfortable and welcoming environment. She’s very knowledgeable and good at what she does. She’s played a vital role in helping me understand my hair better and bring out its true health & beauty like I’ve never seen before. My type 4 hair is behaving in a way I was once told was unachievable for me. I’ve been natural for about 8 years and it wasn’t until after my curly cut with Daria that I began to see my natural curl pattern. If you’re in the Chicago land area & you’re ready to embark on a new, simplistic, less time consuming hair care journey I would definitely recommend partnering with Daria to watch your hair thrive!

I flew from Seattle to Chicago for a wash, condish, and cut with the talented Daria of Colour Theory Beauty Studio and I would do it again in a heartbeat. Why? Well, because Daria is super talented when it comes to understanding, and caring for curly hair, especially tighter curls like mine. I scoured her IG for months and just waited for an opportune time to visit her salon. I left more than happy with my hair! If you are doubting to make an appointment with Daria, don’t. I have been wearing my natural hair for over a year but never went to a stylist to get it shaped up or taught about the things I should be doing. Daria was patient and helpful in explaining about the products and the process. She answered every question that I asked. I was hesitant to do hands on training so she demonstrated first and then I found the courage to jump in and follow her lead. She had an easy personality. Her prices are reasonable based on the services for natural hair. Her after care portal is very helpful. I will definitely book another appointment with Daria.
