I have had such a fantastic experience with my stylist Olivia, as well as everyone at the front desk and staff. I have struggled a lot with my self image after a horrible haircut that left me feeling very insecure for a long time— the transformation Olivia was able to pull together is truly a miracle, and she is not only talented but very kind and compassionate, and truly cares about her clients and her work. If you are looking for a curl specialist, or just looking to find a stylist who WANTS to make you feel good, Curls & Co is 1000% the place for it.

Morgan is amazing with curly hair! She took the time to assess my curl pattern and routine. Her process was meticulous—from cleansing with curl-specific products to applying a deep conditioning treatment for maximum hydration. She cut my hair dry, working with my natural curl shape. She then washed, dried, and trimmed again. She styled it perfectly using layers of curl-enhancing products and a diffuser. Morgan also gave me helpful tips to maintain my curls at home. My curls have never looked so defined, frizz-free, and full of life! If you want a stylist who truly understands curly hair, Morgan is the one!

The cut and color I received were both beautifully done, however the color service was not what I had come in asking for. I felt that I was pressured by my stylist to do something different than what I wanted, and I didn’t feel as though I could put my foot down for several reasons. Before the appointment I had asked for a price estimate but never received it, and did not know until I started reading these reviews that they listed any prices on the website. At the end of my appointment I was charged an amount I thought was fair, however a few days afterward I received several calls and texts from the salon informing me that they had forgotten to charge for my haircut, and that I owed them another $100. There was apparently no way to invoice me for this; I had to read my card number to them over the phone. I understand that mistakes happen but felt that this was not handled very well, in tone or in practice. It also brought my total over $400, which would be fine but again it would have been great to know that earlier. It was mostly upsetting because I ended up with different, lesser results than I wanted. TL;DR The work is great but I don’t think I’ll be returning, mostly because I really didn’t feel listened to or prioritized by my stylist. I really didn’t feel very comfortable. I would also have appreciated more price transparency and better communication from the salon. If you go as a client, be ready to pay a lot of money and really assert yourself. They are amazing at their craft though, and I was really impressed with the results I saw on others there.

Yadi did an extraordinary job with my daughter’s hair!!!! So grateful. Loved the space and Yadi was a brilliant stylist. So patient and kind + the cut is so cute.

Juilette is a dream. Don’t snooze on her ability to revive your curls! 💘 i’ve been on a regrowth journey after shaving my hair in 2020 for personal reasons and my curls were just just crying to be loved by her. i leave the salon feeling so much lighter, beautiful AND feeling like i hung out with a life long home girl.

I used to get my curly hair cut here before I moved out of state. Since I was in town, l got an appointment and got a cut this week. Service was great - Giovanna knew what she was doing, gave me a great cut, and was friendly and helpful. I recommend Curls & Company to everyone with curly hair!

If you have curly hair, this is where you should go to get your cut, color etc. All of the stylists are trained specifically in addressing the needs of curly hair. You can chose a Jr or sr. Stylist. Bette, one of the Senior stylists who has been there for years does an absolutely amazing job with my hair. She offers advice as well as listens to my wants. I leave the salon loving my hair, and weeks later I'm still happy with the cut and color. There is a very good reason why I travel 1 hour each way to get my hair done with Bette! And fwiw, when I am there other clients seem happy with their stylists as well

Do not assume, because this is a curly hair salon, that all stylists know all types of curly hair. This salon is not for type 4 curls. I went to Curl's and Company with the anticipation of being serviced by a knowledgeable hairstylist with experience with curly hair of all types and textures. I have high porosity 4a hair, and the person who styled my hair had very little knowledge of African-American hair. This person repeatedly said something was "wrong" with my hair because of how quickly it absorbed water, cut an excessive amount of hair off (way more than I asked), and did not know how to style it. My hair looked terrible after the cut and "style". There was not even a style; my hair was a giant puffball. My curls had no definition, no moisture, and my hair was a frizzy mess. The cut itself was average at best (the front is way longer than the back).I am disappointed in this salon for claiming to be a curly hair salon with stylists with no knowledge of type 4 hair. They were a nice person, but they did a poor job. Such a waste of money, and my hair is botched. Update: A year after my cut, in 2023, I went back to Curls and Co after being invited by Cally. She offered to fix up the previous cut done by a former stylist and did an amazing job. I was also informed the person who cut my hair was no longer with Curls & Co. A year after my cut and I will be going back to Cally.

I had an appointment with Giovanna and was nervous because it’s rare to find someone who really understands how to cut curly hair. Giovanna listened to me, was kind and thorough, and gave me a stunning cut. My hair has never looked so good! I will be back!

I went and saw Giovanna a few days ago for a cut and some highlights. It's been years since I got a professional haircut as I've been cutting my own hair for the past few years (so it was pretty uneven). I could tell during the consultation that she was really listening to me and she did an absolutely perfect job giving me the exact cut I asked for. The highlights were what I was most nervous about since I've never had any before. When I first saw them I thought they looked lighter than what I expected, but I think that's just because I wasn't used to seeing myself with highlights because when I got home I realized that she matched the reference photo I showed her for the highlights pretty much exactly! I could tell that she took a lot of care to make sure to give me the cut and color I wanted. I also thought the price was pretty reasonable for how great the service was. Will definitely be going back :)

A year ago I got a curly cut from Olivia. She was a junior stylist then, and she's now a Senior Stylist (yay). She did a phenomenal job with my curly cut. I have type 4 coily kinky hair and she gave me exactly the kind of layered cut that I needed. The only problem came with the styling products used. My hair is dense, and I think their products just have too light a hold. The styling afterwards did not do the cut justice. When I restyled at home, my hair had bounce, volume, and looked lovely. When Cally (the owner) got wind that there was even the slightest problem, she offered to correct the cut, but there was no need. Olivia did an amazing job. Thanks y'all!

Cally has been sprucing up my curls for the last 5 years. She listens, doesn't rush, and my curls always look great. She and her staff are very friendly. Highly recommend for all curly haired folks.

Cally is an absolute professional and a true Chicagoan. Lovely first time experience. Listened to all my requests and patiently answered about a million questions I had. My curly hair felt like an asset (instead of seen as more work for the hairdresser) So happy to give her business. You should too!

Finally a salon for us curly haired people! First and foremost, Cally,.the owner, is amazing! Being a curly girl herself, she knows curls and knowing the need for this type a salon, she hit a home run opening up this type of hair salon! Stylists are trained in the "curly cut". The salon staff are friendly and personable. If you have wavy or curly hair, thick or thin, you must try Curls & Company!

Had a great haircut and deep conditioning treatment with Bette. I was long overdue which for curly hair means a lot. She was wonderful to work with and very knowledgeable. I do suggest booking well ahead of time and following their instructions to a T. I feel fresh and renewed. No more hide it/tie ups!

I cannot express how pleased and happy I am with this business. My entire life has been spent learning hard lessons about my hair. Salons not knowing how to do it properly. Not knowing how to myself. I absolutely adore Giovanna. She's wonderful. She took time to study and learn my hair and curl pattern. She's just wonderful.

I really like this salon. And that’s the first time I have ever been able to say that! I’m mixed but with very fine hair that seemed wavy until I started the curly girl method. It’s really easy for stylists to make wildly incorrect assumptions about how my hair will act. I honestly spent most of my life cutting my own hair so I could avoid the tears and the mullets 😭 I’ve now been to this salon more than once (a first for me) and have had great experiences. The cuts take a while but it’s really nice to not feel rushed. They listen to everything you have to say, even like “well this one tiny section is straight every day” and they give you a hair cut specific to you. It’s clear they’re very knowledgeable and everyone seemed happy. For the first time ever my hair is shorter than my shoulders and I love it. I feel like my hair has more potential and more options now. It was not traumatic at all and I love my look. Thanks Olivia!

I thought my hair had gone straight and lifeless after delivering my baby (and moving to Chicago with this hard water) 😫 but I just needed a revamped hair cut and styling products!! Giovanna brought my curls back to life 💖💖💖 I will even come back here ~every 3 months bc the price is reasonable and the cut was that good (instead of my usual habit of waiting 6-9 months). To other clients- please make sure you read the very clear and repeated guidelines regarding prepping your hair before a curly cut. Detangle it!!

Margaret is wonderful. I have been having her style my hair for years and I love the results (and get compliments). I have curly hair and she has helped me get great looks, edgy, funky, or conservative, depending on how I'm feeling. She really listens to me and implements what I ask for, but will also suggest ideas that I hadn't considered. Always to great result.

So I just washed and styled my hair for the first time since my cut 3 days ago. The jury is out—this is my new salon! Giovanna is the junior stylist and I imagine she will be promoted soon, because she did an outstanding job on my hair. I like to keep it short and shapely. She followed instructions and explained every step of the process. I purchased the shampoo, conditioner, and primer spray she used and I’m really happy with the results. Going into summer feeling happy with my curls once again!

This was my first time at curls and company. I had been desperately trying to find a curly hair salon since I had recently moved from another state. Let me say, Tamikca did an AMAZING job with my hair. I didn’t have any references or pictures to show her what I wanted but she definitely gave me what I needed considering it had been almost two years since my last hair cut. She continuously checked to make sure I was ok with the amount of length coming off, and with traumatic experiences in the past (like many of us curly girls), I truly appreciated this. All in all it was a great experience and I highly recommend this place to anyone with textured hair!

This was my own experience - it seemed like the other clients with the other stylists were very happy with their results. Have never left a salon more heartbroken. Cried in my car because the service was so disappointing. I at least thought the haircut looked good when I left the salon which was the only saving grace of the day. I just re washed my hair and have SO many pieces that are too long here and too short there. I'd rather just have my curly hair cut wet as if it were straight than sit through a pricey, 2 hour appointment with nothing to show for it. I was already struggling to style my hair and I'm afraid of how long it will take for my hair to recover from this. Very regretful.
