Paul has done it again. I walked in feeling tired and ragged… and danced out feeling fierce and fabulous. Loving my shag and new routine. And I also love that he sent me the instructions on how to achieve it myself. There’s nothing worse than leaving the salon knowing you’ll never be able to replicate how they styled my hair, but not the case with Paul! He’s giving all the secrets. *edit! Came back to Paul for a major chop and I am obsessssseeddddddd *edit 2/4/25 visited Paul in his new studio! Feeling fresh as always!

Paul definitely has an understanding of curly hair. After going 6+ months without a haircut, I had a first appointment with him where he undid the work of a stylist who cut my hair unevenly on the back of my head. He taught me how to properly diffuse and apply product. While what he recommended was probably more time than I’m willing to dedicate to daily hair styling (in part due to the sheer volume of hair on my head… I have “some of the thickest hair on the planet”), I’m happy to see the results of what CAN happen if I take the time. I’m overall pleased with my experience.

Paul is extraordinarily knowledgeable about all types of curly hair. I have the tricky combination of wavy, fine curly hair that can go from defined to frizzy very easily and isn't intuitive to trim, but Paul is so skilled at shaping and trimming my hair to keep curl families together. He knows what works best for my hair and I wouldn't dream of going to someone else. Chances are that if you see someone with stunning curly hair on the street, they go to Paul (speaking from personal experience).

Updated Dec 2024- Another Great experience. Paul totally got what I have been trying to achieve, a cute cut that looks good/right on me with reminders of the simple ways to style. And a fun time! If you have curls, you know how critical it is to find someone who can properly cut it so you don't come out looking like a poodle, Little Orphan Annie, Nellie Olsen (for all you Little House on the Prairie fans!), or any other nightmare that leaves you in tears and having to desperately try and grow it out. PAUL KNOWS HIS STUFF! He explains every step of the process - literally a 101 on shampooing to conditioning to styling to drying! I used to get cuts with my hair wet - now because of Paul I understand the reason why curly hair needs to be cut when dry. Not from Chicago? Plan a girls trip and come see him (along with the museums & great restaurants) - it is literally worth every penny! If he isn't already called #TheCurlWhisperer, let me christen him with that moniker now.

I’ve gotten my haircut 3 times by Paul now and every time I leave having learned SO much and feeling SO amazed at my hair! Over the last year and a half I have been growing to love my curly hair thanks to Paul’s cuts and guidance. Always love going to Curlybar 🥰 Just got it cut again this year and still love the service!
