I went and saw Tina for my hair and she was so kind and showed me more about my hair than any other stylist has! A few weeks later I took One of my kids in and she was amazing with him as well! I will Be going back for a balayage soon!

We saw Taylor for our little one’s first haircut. She was so incredibly patient and kind. Could not have asked for a better experience. The rest of the staff were also very friendly. The salon was incredibly clean not to mention decorated so cute! Will be returning in the future.

Highly recommend Darling and Dapper Studio for your wedding hair and make-up! From the moment I first chatted with Liz, I felt completely at ease. Liz, Markia, and Sarah took the time to listen to my vision for my wedding day look and made sure to understand exactly what I wanted. The trial was such a great experience — they really listened to my feedback and made adjustments to get everything perfect. On the big day, Sarah and Markia were professional, punctual, and calm, which helped ease any pre-wedding jitters. They worked with my bridesmaids and me, making sure everyone looked and felt their best. I booked on a whim because I had a cut from another stylist that wasn’t really my thing, and I wanted to fix it ASAP. I googled “hair salons near me,” and found this great salon! I booked maybe 30 minutes before my appointment time, it was LAST MINUTE… but it was the best last minute choice ever!!! I met Michelle and have definitely found my forever hair magician! I got the best short cut/pixie of my life despite them having to work around what was done in the previous cut. I recently got my hair color done by her too and it is literally the most gorgeous thing in the world, I’ve never had such a deep and vibrant vivid color before, Michelle is hair royalty, especially with “unnatural” hair colors. The salon itself is gorgeous too, very thought out and beautiful decorations. The other staff I have met have also been lovely, I feel so welcomed there by every single person I’ve met. Definitely a safe space for LGBTQ+ folks. If you’re reading this and not booking yet… go make an appointment!

I recently visited a new salon and was thoroughly impressed. The staff were exceptionally friendly and welcoming. (To a was my stylist) The interior ambiance was equally delightful, fun and eclectic. I ended up getting approximately 8 inches of my hair cut off which was needed. It feels so much lighter and healthier! I love it

We had Darling & Dapper do hair for myself (bride) and six attendants at our May wedding. I worked with Taylor, and she was amazing from the beginning. The trial was awesome--Taylor worked on the style until it was absolute perfection. Furthermore, she gave me her cell phone number so I could contact her directly with updates, which I did do once or twice. Taylor is super upbeat, fun, and really great to work with: the exact personality that's perfect to have for the bridal party during getting ready time. On the day of the wedding, Taylor and her co-worker were right on time and got everything set up promptly. They were super quick and efficient and everyone looked absolutely stunning. One of my bridesmaids commented on how much more she liked her hair for my wedding than her own wedding!! Taylor and her co-worker were also really great about putting in flowers in everyone's hair which was a last minute change. I had never been in a wedding where the bride paid for everyone with a single contract, but now that I have been I prefer it that way. I could take care of the bill easy peasy online, and then everyone just Venmoed me afterwards, and everyone tipped on their own. It made it way easier and I felt a lot of peace of mind knowing everyone was paid in full. Overall I would absolutely recommend Darling and Dapper--they were fantastic to work with and Taylor especially is amazing!

Attention brides that are looking for a hair and makeup artist in the Hampton Roads area I got married in April and used Darling & Dapper for my hair and makeup, and wanted to share my disappointing experience. At first, staff was extremely accommodating, I had left off choosing my H/MUA until about 1 week before the wedding. They were able to fit me in for a trial, which went extremely well, and reassured everything would work out great day of. Fast forward to day of the wedding. My hairstylist was supposed to arrive at 7:45. She however did not get there until about 10 minutes after 8. Everything was supposed to be completed by 12:30 (2pm ceremony start, 1pm arrival at church), but they finished closer to 1:50. This caused me to miss out on my first look with my dad, first touch with my husband, and caused me to be late to my ceremony. Also adding an extra hour charge for my limo, and missing out on a lot of the getting ready pictures / video that would’ve been done during that time (my photo and video team were amazing and did what they could during that time). One of my bridesmaids offered to do her own hair when she saw we were running behind schedule, to which they said they would be able to complete everything in time. I reached out to the salon afterwards, and was told that the morning of my wedding was “incredibly challenging for them” between dogs and a loud atmosphere. Which was never portrayed, as the hairdresser and MUA were laughing saying it reminded them of their home. We welcomed these ladies into our house by offering them snacks, coffee, drinks, anything to keep them comfortable, never once did they mention or look overwhelmed. I was also supposed to receive a day of “touch up kit” which was never provided to me. The hairstyle I received was very different than what was done during my trial. I was later told by the owner this was done because I had clip in extensions placed for my wedding day, which I didn’t have for my trial. This was never told to me by the hairstylist either at the trial or on the day of and options were not given as to what I would like to be done. The salons response was an offer for me to come in for a complimentary chemical/treatment/cutting. They also mentioned several times that it “was not their norm”. This caused me lose several hundreds of dollars between, photo time, video time, and limo services. After mentioning this again, their offer still stood. I was never offered a partial refund or any other options. A $50 complimentary hair cut did not seem fair (I typically do not use any chemical or color in my hair). After receiving many positive recommendations to use them, I can’t say I would do the same. If you choose to use them, make sure you have a lot of extra time built in to your wedding timeline.

Got my hair done with Sam Fleck! High quality haircut with an amazing atmosphere at Darling and dapper! Not only was my hair stylist welcoming, but I was greeted with smiles from everyone when I walked in. Snacks and drinks while you wait and great photography of my new look. We all know a haircut is more than just a haircut. I felt pampered, celebrated, and like a brand new person when I left. 10 out of 10

Edit: They've added a massage chair and a little menu of complimentary snacks and drinks! My husband got 30 minutes for $30 of zero-g compression massage while my hair was getting cut. Fat body accessible and LGBTQIA+ friendly. A kind and safe place! Very nice people, especially Michelle. The deep treatment really helped my hair, and she made sure to give me a cut that made my curls happy. All the products used smelled so nice too.

I used D&D for my wedding hair and makeup, and they were fantastic. I did a trial before, and had a great time working with Sarah and Markia. They constantly validated me for my opinions, and made me feel so comfortable to tell them what I wanted and make small adjustments during the trial. This was huge for me as I am not familiar and comfortable with beauty services. On the day of they were just as fantastic! They made the wedding party look and feel great, and were just overall great people to hang with before the wedding. They are both so talented and I felt amazing on my wedding day! I could not have asked for better!

I truly cannot express in words how wonderful the entire team at Darling & Dapper is... but I'm sure going to try! From start to finish, Liz and her team of beauty gurus were all incredibly kind, consultative, and patient for our wedding preparations. The day of my hair and makeup trials was also the day I was taking my bridal portraits; this context is important because while I was in Taylor's chair getting started on hair, I got a text from one of my bridesmaids saying that she was sick and could not be there with me for the bridal portraits as originally planned... at which point I started panic-texting everybody else I could think of that could have potentially come to help me get changed, haul my belongings around the venue, etc. But as an hour passed and I hadn't found anybody who was available (and my blood pressure started to skyrocket), Taylor assured me that if I couldn't get anybody, at the very least she and Trin and the other folks working in the studio that day would get me changed and ready before I got in the car. I mean, how kind is that?! Trin then started on my makeup and was incredibly sweet and patient with me as I neurotically checked my phone between applications LOL! Everybody was hyping me up and keeping energy high, and by the time we were done, miraculously another one of my bridesmaids was able to flex and come meet me at the venue AND I felt absolutely gorgeous!! Fast forward to my wedding day - Taylor, Trin, and Jade were already at the venue when I pulled up, ready to rock! Everybody was thrilled with their hair and makeup looks, and Trin was more than happy to help me incorporate a different shade and formula of lipstick that I had found after the trials. With 8 ladies and a few gents on the schedule, they kept everything moving smoothly and I never felt stressed or rushed for a single second (at least, not by them, hah!). One of my bridesmaids had originally decided on makeup only/against having her hair done because of a horrendous prior experience she had with other "beauty" vendors in a different wedding party years ago - as in, this was legitimately traumatizing for her. But as she saw and heard how lovely this team was, she quietly asked me if I thought they could add her in as well - oh my heart!!! I asked Taylor, and she said that we seemed to be on-track and it shouldn't be a problem, and very soon after my bridesmaid was in the chair getting hyped up and treated with absolute care and attention and, yes, I would call it love. The "manscaping" that Taylor provided for my husband and bonus kid especially was perfect, and she put them at ease with her humor and expertise. I would be remiss if I did not also give a huge shout out to Jose, who fixed up my horrible self-dyed and self-trimmed hair a few weeks before my trials, and provided a fabulous hair cut for my husband shortly before the wedding as well! I am soooooo so appreciative to all of these fine folks, and we're both excited to start visiting Liz and her team in her gorgeous studio for regular hair services, all the way from Portsmouth. Thank you all so very much for everything!!!

So glad I chose D&D for my wedding day! Taylor was incredible. She asked a bunch of questions and listened carefully to make sure we loved our look and we did. We never felt any pressure and she's just fun to be around and made us both feel beautiful so 10 out of 10 would recommend Taylor! Also the vibe of the salon is just really great like it's actually a place you want to hang out... I'll be going back for sure!

I really wish I could leave a 5 star review. It's been 6wks since my experience at Darling&Dapper & I’m still upset. I am not a professional, but I have 19yrs of experience, education & knowledge of Vivid hair.. I went in to see Tina for a vivid color change. It started off great, perfect vibe overall. We talked about what we were going to do & got started. She started off with one bleach, & then came back & told me she needed to use another bleach bc she ran out of the first one. I sat in foils for the usual process time, then afterwards had my foils removed for her to check the lift. She then started brushing my hair with bleach in it. I wanted to say something but didn’t. It wasn't until after we washed the bleach out that I said something bc my hair was literally falling out! I have a video of where I ran my hand down my hair & hair is effortlessly coming out. I said to Christina that my hair was really damaged after the bleach & her response was "Dude don't worry! It's because there isn't conditioner in it."....... I felt gaslit. I then said "Let's just take 2-3 inches off all of my layers.".. I received no response. She then started brushing my bleach damaged hair, & it was snowing. Pieces of my hair all over the floor. I knew what was happening. I then said "Man my hair didn't like this bleach, lets definitely take 2-3 inches off." Another no response.. I don't know if she wasn't hearing me at this point or what was going on. Moving on to the color process. I asked for dark purple roots & deep blood red hair. She starts coloring my hair, after 15mins she tells me she ran out of the red & had to go mix a concoction. By the end of it all, I still had brown roots, the purple was very light & my hair was Pink. When checking out to pay, I said to her "My hair isn't Red, it's Pink." & her response back was "It's not going to be as Vivid the first time because we just processed it." .....After that I just shut-up & didn't say anything else & paid $300+ for hair that left me sobbing on my way home. I contacted D&D to get ahold of the Owner bc I was just devasted at that point. Liz was great, she understood, she brought me back to correct it. She gave me dark red hair, dark purple roots & evened out my hair. While it looked & felt better, I knew it was still damaged. I waited 6 days before my first wash. I put a K18 bond repair mask on before the first wash & let it sit on my hair for 2hrs. While applying the mask, pieces upon pieces of my hair were just all over my gloves. After the wash my hair was no longer that deep red Liz applied, it was back to being a pink. I now know the cuticles of my hairs are damaged. Its 6wks later & I have spent almost $700 dollars on products, treatments & an additional haircut to stop the breakage of my hair. After the haircut, the breakage stopped about 80%. But I’m here now 4wks after that haircut & back to major breakage again. You cannot touch my hair without getting pieces left in your hands. Now I have pieces of hair that are splitting in the middle of the hairs & traveling up to my scalp. I apply a K18 hair mask to my hair every shower day, I wash my hair with Olaplex bonding shampoo & put K18's after wash treatment in my hair every time. I have bought Lanza, Olaplex, K18, Mizani & Rossano Ferretti products. My 2yr hair journey has come to an end. My natural curls are gone, I look like bohzo the clown every time my hair dry’s, & my hair wont stop breaking. Today I get all of my hair cut off & I am just defeated. My review isn’t to scare anyone away from D&D, or to get anyone in trouble. It was a lesson learned for everyone involved in my eyes. At this point I just wish I could get my money back for the service I went in for on Jan 20th. I went with Tina because she was so passionate about Vivid hair & I truly wanted to support her with her goals & dreams. There is just some more knowledge to be learned with the process & delicate nature of working with colored hair. The pics are the night of, a few days after I first left the Salon, after Liz darkened my hair, to today.

In all my 33 years of life I have never had a stylist tell me “did you know you have curly hair” and then proceed to take the time to teach me how to take care of it properly and to enhance my natural curls. I was blown away by Jose’s knowledge, skill, and patience. I’m so excited to take the information he provided and use it in my regular routine. I can’t wait to come back! Darling and Dapper has an incredible staff overall and the environment they have created is so unique. It’s not a chore to get my hair done it’s a whole experience. I have never felt so relaxed or validated in my questions and my concerns.

I can't begin to thank Liz, Sadie, and the other lovely ladies at Darling and Dapper for the spectacular job they did on my and my bridal party's hair and makeup for both my engagement and wedding photos! Liz's makeup is IMPECCABLE, stays on for days if you want it to, and she's clearly comfortable with both dewy natural looks, and bigtime full glam; whatever you want; she's got you. I wanted an odd split between a structured 1950's sculptured look, and a more 1930's finger wave, with the ability to stick a veil and comb in, and Liz and her team split the difference beautifully, graciously worked with my last-minute clip-in extensions, and truly made me feel like a princess at their studio, complete with champagne. She accommodated me like I was a major client, even with a very small party, and her price is fantastic considering the high quality results her work produces. Will definitely rebook for any future occasions where I need to be the center of attention, and want to feel fantastic being there ;)

Amber is my hair dresser, and she's absolutely amazing and never disappoints! She is very precise and attentive. She always makes sure I'm comfortable during the cut and styling and asks me questions to make sure im satisfied with how the results of my hair cut is looking. I reccomend booking an appointment, she gets booked fast because she's great! But will always try to squeeze you in. & I'm sure the other hair dressers here are just as great as amber!

Taylor did my hair and makeup for engagement photos and was WONDERFUL! She took the time to help me pick eyeshadow colors, talked me through everything she was doing, and listened to all of my feedback and concerns. HMU can be so different person to person but I feel like she really took the time to do what suited me best. The studio is funky, fun, and spacious. Great location in Hilltop and easy to get to! Thank you so much Taylor for an awesome experience, your time and your talent!

We hired Darling & Dapper for our September 2023 wedding and WOW did they crush it! About a month out, I decided I also wanted my hair and makeup done for the rehearsal. Two days before our wedding, we found out that a tropical storm would be closing our venue on our big day. I asked Liz and Monica if we could use my rehearsal appointments for full bridal hair and makeup to get a first look in at our original venue (The Chrysler Museum of Art) the day before the storm and of course, they said yes with zero hesitation. I felt so lucky to feel so glammed up and beautiful two days in a row. In the chaos and sadness of losing our dream venue 48 hours before our big day, I felt my most calm and at peace when I was in the chair with Liz and Monica. My 8 bridesmaids, mom, mother in law, and grandmother all said the same on wedding day - we love Darling & Dapper!

I booked Darling and Dapper for on-site hair and makeup for my bridal party and myself via a recommendation from my coordinator, and I was so incredibly pleased with their services. Liz, the owner, was great to work with while I was planning and made things really easy on me as an out of state bride. When the day arrived, my bridesmaids and I had a blast in the bridal suite with Trin styling our hair and Monica doing our makeup. Both artists were professional, but also great to have around. They listened to what each of my bridesmaids wanted and gave each unique, stunning looks. My hair and makeup were flawless, exactly what I asked for, and photographed beautifully. I really can’t say enough about how great Darling and Dapper and their stylists are!

I booked Darling and Dapper for on-site hair and makeup for my wedding. My coordinator recommended Liz and her team, and I could not have felt more beautiful on the wedding day! Liz, the owner, was very responsive and so easy to communicate with during the planning process. Trin did my bridal hair and makeup and hair for my bridal party, and Anna did makeup for my bridal party. Both were extremely professional and great energy to be around, as we enjoyed a relaxed and fun morning in the bridal suite. Both are truly gifted, and everyone's hair and makeup came out looking stunning and photographed so beautifully. There also happened to be a tropical storm come through on our wedding day, and we were able to get some awesome umbrella photos outside in the rain, and the hair and make up stood up to the test and was still in tact with all the wind and rain! Tina was amazing. She took my Pinterest inspiration and brought it to life. I am so happy with my hair. Tina is also very nice, easy to talk to, fun to be around. We spent our appointment talking and laughing. Not only did she slay my hair, but made the appointment so much fun. Will 100% be returning to see Tina. The entire salons vibe is amazing, laid back, beautifully designed and they offer complimentary drinks and snacks. I spoke to Taylor on the phone because I was late, and had some trouble finding the salon. She stayed on the phone with me and gave me turn by turn directions. And then stood outside and flagged me down to direct me. Everyone in the salon is so friendly and kind. Highly recommend!
