I love Madion! He is so amazing & very knowledgeable! He looked at my hair and knew exactly what I needed. He also did my make up, which looked fabulous! My only problem Is that I live in South Carolina and heâs in New York. Heâs worth a trip to NYC every six months!! I canât wait to see you then!!

Quality at the top, the best of the best. Madion Russo is the best stylist color and haircut design in all Hells Kitchen area, not only did a spectacular balayage perfect blending color but also my hair didnât dry at all with the process, I absolutely recommend him.

Love this place!! Been coming here for the last 3 years now. Markell is my favorite and I am sure other hairdressers are as well. The vibe is just amazing, I never have to wait longer than 5 minutes for my appointment and more importantly Markell makes sure I get what I want. Canât recommend enough! Hidden gem.

This Salon is NOT Trans-Friendly Went to this salon for the first time a couple of days ago. Chose it because I work in the area and they had availability when I was free. I felt really uncomfortable when I checked in with the person at the front. I booked online for a menâs haircut, since I have short hair, the style I wanted is considered a âmasculineâ style, and I donât identify as either male or female. The person checking me in saw that I had a menâs haircut booked, took one look at me, and said, âyou should have booked a womenâs cut.â I was so taken aback by that statement that I didnât have a reply. They said, âDid you book a menâs cut because you have short hair? It shouldâve been for a womanâs cut.â I stumbled over my words in trying to explain that I have short hair and want a menâs cut. But they kept saying that it should be a womanâs cut. After about a minute of this, I mumbled that I donât identify as male or female, and they conceded that they would âhave to seeâ what the stylist did to determine if it should be charged as a menâs or a womenâs cut. Womenâs cuts are almost twice as expensive as menâs. I sat down to wait for the stylist, and the person at check-in went over and talked to the stylist, leaning really close and whispering. The two of them kept looking over their shoulders at me, so it was obvious they were talking about what I requested. I felt incredibly self-conscious and quite frankly embarrassed, even though I asked for something that was completely normal. That day, I happened to be wearing a dress. I also got top surgery two years ago. But just because I was wearing a dress does not mean I automatically identify as female and want a female cut. I should not have to explain my gender identity to a stranger just to get the haircut I want. My outward appearance has absolutely no bearing on my gender identity and it does not dictate what kind of haircut I âshould have booked.â These comments made me feel unsafe as a trans person in this establishment, which is ironic considering the website says the owner decided to open the salon in Hellâs Kitchen because the neighborhood is âa hub of gay culture.â The wash and cut were fine and they ended up charging for a menâs cut, but the number of micro aggressions I experienced in the span of five minutes means I will not be coming back here.

If you're looking for that one negative review to convince you to choose elsewhere, I hope this helps. My experience with stylist, Markell Yushuvayev, has haunted me so much that I feel compelled to write my first Google review. First, my entire head was dyed a cool jet black when I requested he only color my front hair pieces back to my natural color: a warm brown. Second, Markell double booked. As I returned to my chair after the wash, another client sat next to me. Instead of asking the client to wait until my appointment concludes, Markell was going back and forth between us. It was incredibly awkward and disruptive. Third and what disturbed me the most, when I politely declined a blow out, Markell refused to even dry my hair. He quite literally handed me the hair dryer and walked away. So, I had to sit there and dry my own hair at a hair salon surrounded by the other stylists exchanging looks of shock and discomfort while the stylist I hired is tending to another client right next to me... I hope writing this review helps me move on and stop cringing from the memory of this experience.

I took a shot at David Ryan Salon and let me tell you, I was not disappointed. Liz was AMAZING, she was gentle, didnât rush and you can just tell she has so much passion for hair. Overall the Salon had great vibes, everyone was very welcoming and warm! I left beyond happy Thank you so much Liz, Iâll be seeing you soon!

AVOID! I can't express enough how disappointed I am! I needed to get a correction on my balayage, and I picked this place because the reviews had been great, but now I think they are fake? I was treasuring my hair tips for about 6 months with extensive opalpex treatments over night and K18 daily. but after I visited here and paid about $1K and they completely fried my hair! even the previous one that had not been beached yet... I had to go right after to a different saloon in tears and pay an additional $200 to get a Kris Jenner cut! just to kind of keep my hair from looking like Miley Cyrus 2023 frizzy hair victim. BEWARE!

I regret ever going there, these people are NOT honest. You go in for a specific simple treatment and they push you to sell you something you didnât ask for, ruin your hair treat you with disregard. And charge you 1000$ for something you didnât ask plus they burn and ruin your hair. No customer service whatsoever, they just take your money. Iâve never experienced this in my life, when. a hairdresser burns and ruins your hair, how dare they not refund you, thatâs the minimum. I definitely would NOT recommend this salon. Horrible service.

I would NOT recommend David Ryan salon. The manager and stylist Madion Russo are rude, inconsiderate scammers. When I called to schedule an appointment I asked for a blowout and to put in and style my extensions for a wedding, which he said would cost $75. At my appointment, after my hair was washed, I sat down at Madionâs station where he proceeded to tell me that he wouldnât put my extensions in and style. He assumed that the extensions were already in my hair. I was surprised that he made this mistake especially after confirming by phone. I was stunned. I asked him if there was any chance he could help put in my extensions for me. He immediately snapped at me and told me he wouldnât do the service âespecially if I was going to lecture him,â even though the whole time I was extremely polite. Madion left me in a very uncomfortable spot â I sat in the chair upset and panicking, as I had little time before the wedding to find ANOTHER place that would slide me in for an appointment. Madion also said my extensions were âa messâ (they were only a little tangled. Madion could probably sense that I was stressed out because he finally agreed to put in my extensions for me, but that the service would cost $110 now. Since I was desperate to get the extensions in for the event I agreed to it, but I should have gone elsewhere because he threw a hairbrush at me and told me to brush out my own extensionsâŠand then for the blowout, he BENT me over so my head and neck were down, which was physically painful, and told me to STAY like that while he went to wash another personâs hair for over 5 minutes. Finally, the manager and Marion were speaking to each other in a different language (in front of me) about this current situation. They switched to English & the manager groaned and said to him, âYou know this is gonna be a bad yelp review right?â Marion responded, âI donât think sheâll do it.â The manager then said âSo stupidâ and the two continued being snarky. I was in tears afterwards. I have never been treated so rudely.

Kiki was one of the best hairdressers I've ever visited when I had my haircut! In addition to being incredibly pleasant, he is also quite competent in his line of work. He gave fantastic ideas, took the time to be deliberate and intentional with my hair, and gave me a good haircut all around.

My hair experience with Denis was amazing. My beard trim with Liz was awful. She used an electro trimmer that was full for the trim, and not a straight razor. The entire thing was extremely rushed. I left with my face feeling very hot. When I returned to my hotel room, the sides of my face and the entirety of my neck had broken out in bumps and was swollen. I had to give up theatre tickets and an evening out because my face was in pain. Donât charge someone $40 for a beard trim to have someone run over your face with a dull trimmer. Not to mention, she messed up the hair that I had just paid to have cut and styled.

Had my hair blown out by the manager. He did a great job. Gave me some shampoo, conditioner and dry shampoo samples that were really good.

I decided to cut my long hair after a few years of growing it out. I usually leave salons feeling underwhelmed by a lackluster cut, but not this time! Liz was amazing! She did a wonderful job on my haircut. She is so talented. Thank you!!!

I have a really good hairdresser in Beijing who does my big wavy perm, but no one can bring those curls alive better than Madion here. With Madion, my fake curls can last up to nine months. The layers he puts on my head, magical.

I saw Marion about 6 months ago⊠he charged me over $450 (yes you heard that right), to physically dye my entire head RED. Youâd think a basic hair colorist would know that with tan skin, our hair has red undertones. I asked for brown highlights and he dyed my entire head red. I couldnât go outside for days until I plucked up the courage to go back and ask to be fixed. He did something else to remove the red - it lasted 24 hours before it was red again. I paid another 300 at a salon that actually knew what they were doing and they fixed it permanently. Literally such a scam - and pretty annoyed that I was never refunded. Might take this further as itâs illegal to charge someone for a product they didnât pay for

Second time back here, first was APR 22. Liz is a great stylist and super personality, very professional and fun to chat too, the salon has been great on both occasions. If only I didnât have to travel from Australia to get a haircut đ Thanks Liz đđŒ

Hereâs the thing. We live in Vermont and, may I just say, it can be CHALLENGING, to get a good haircut in The Green Mountain State. So thereâs that. But also, Miranda has been keeping her hair waist long forEVER and was just not able to wrap her mind around actually cutting it. As in getting a style and framing her face and just losing some of all that. And, again, the stylists in Vermont were not âhelpfulâ in making any kind of change. So we were FINALLY going to be able to get back to NYC and I decided I would take the opportunity to take Miranda to an actual, legit salon where a stylist with knowledge, experience and skill would be able to do some âmakeoverâ magic. But! I also needed that stylist to bring the Good Vibes and the Positive Energy to make this a GOOD experiences for Miranda. You know? Back in the 80s, when I was coming up and would sometimes get my hair done in NYC the âsalon vibeâ was, frankly, STRAIGHT MEAN. Like everyone was snotty and rude and mean. Probably because they were all also starving themselves in a doomed attempt to get that starved look that was ALL the craze back then. Also, of course, I have curly hair and that was just not a thing. It was never a good, fun, positive experience for me. But Iâm GROWN these days and figured I could direct the whole situation as required to steer it in the right direction. I didnât have to. Every aspect of our visit to David Ryan Salon was pretty much perfect. I chose David Ryan because we were staying in The Garment District and I knew I could find a place, walking distance, in Hellâs Kitchen. So I went online and read through descriptions and services offered and online reviews. David Ryan Salon, in the heart of Hellâs Kitchen, is a GORGEOUS spot. The interior is really just perfect. It was quiet while we were there, but also weâd brought 2 small toddlers with us. So that was just as well. When I booked Mirandaâs appointment I chose to request a Master Stylist. Because, WHY NOT? Two things: if youâre paying a professional to do something, get the good one! Also, there is no such thing as a good, cheap haircut. That being said, Mirandaâs cut and style was $130. Which, IMO, is NOT expensive for an excellent haircut from a skilled stylist. Mirandaâs stylist was Madion Russo. I HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend Madion. Not only is he EXTREMELY good at what he does. He is kind. Kindness goes A LONG way my friends. Especially when you are talking to someone about their personal appearance and, helping them to change it. Not only did he give Miranda a BEAUTIFUL haircut, he talked to her about coloring and conditioning and styling and ALL THE THINGS in such an easy, approachable way. He tailored his service to his client and was just amazing. I cannot recommend David Ryan Salon and, particularly Madion Russo highly enough. Weâll be back!

I got a haircut and style from Dennis. He is truly an artist. I came from Boston to get a haircut from him. I loved the full salon experience he provided, from the shampoo moment till the end. I hear he is a great colorist too. The salon was easy to find, clean, comfortable.

I got my haircut with Kiki and he was one of the best hair dressers Iâve been to! He is not only super friendly but more importantly, really good at his job. He took the time to be deliberate and intentional with my hair, gave great ideas and was just a good haircut overall

It was a terrible experience. We went to this place to get my fiancĂ©âs hair cut. Even tough she said, âonly cut split ends and keep the length of my current cut,â he cut more than four inch and changed the shape of her hair. Also, why would he wet the hair and then cut it? Wasnât he supposed to dry the hair first and then cut it since her hair was wavy? Anyway, my fiancĂ© couldnât say anything because it was already too late. She wasnât satisfied at all.
