Dee is not only the kindest and sweetest soul I have ever met but her haircuts are hands down the best I’ve ever had. It can be so hard to find a stylist that knows curly hair but her cuts really help shape my hair so it’s natural beauty shines. Her haircuts also grow out so well so when I lived in California I would wait it out in between haircuts so I could be back to see Dee. Could not recommend highly enough!

Dee is the absolute best! I have curly yet thin hair that I also straighten and part many different ways, and Dee somehow always finds the perfect cut for me! She’s such a warm person and it’s always a joy getting to stop in for an appointment.

Dee is the absolute best! I've tried to get bangs at least a dozen times, and her bangs are the first I've walked away thrilled to have. She truly created exactly what I was looking for. They are so versatile, and she worked with 2 rather obtrusive cowlicks on my hairline. She knows what she's doing and every haircut lays so well. She also cuts my husband's hair, and he adores her. His hair isn't the easiest to cut (very thick and straight) and she nails it. She also gives the best tattoo recs, many thanks Dee.

Dee not only gave me the curly bangs chop of my dreams but is also one of the kindest, most authentic souls I’ve had the luck to meet. Like a lot of curly folks I was very hesitant about getting rid of so much length or trying out curly bangs, and Dee clearly understood this after we discussed what I was thinking for the cut. She checked in constantly to make sure I was comfortable with where we were at length-wise and where we were going, while also providing just the right amount of hype/encouragement (not pushing!) that made me feel confident enough to continue. I was happy with the length at the end because it truly felt like it had been my decision on whether to stop or keep going. Dee also fully accepted and met me at my low maintenance routine (ie 1. slap products in while hair is wet and 2. airdry) and made some product recommendations that she thought would work for it with my new hairstyle, and I’m still loving them and am planning to repurchase. More than a few weeks afterwards I can still say this is the happiest I’ve been with a haircut, and it was also so fun chatting with Dee in general. Looking forward to booking with her again :)

After finding Krista by searching for the best curly hair stylist in Chicago, I'm hooked. My hair is very curly and Krista's curly hair cut has not only made my hair lay sooooo nicely when I let it go natural, but it's also the best cut for when I decide to blow it out. She knows how to read each curl and intentionally cut it so it lays well and creates a beautiful overall shape. I also get color and highlights and am always soooo pleased. She carries great products and she taught me exactly what to do when I get out of the shower to get the most out of my curly hair and it has made such a difference. I want to add that my mom, who has pin straight hair, had Krista cut her hair when she was in town and it was one of her best haircuts. She loved the cut initially but especially loved how it grew out over the following months which I think is the mark of a true specialist. Krista is also so easy to talk to and we laugh so much. She's reliable and professional which is so appreciated. I whole heartedly recommend her for all hair types and especially curly!

I’ve been going to Krista for years for my curly hair and cannot recommend her highly enough. She’s incredibly knowledgeable (and a wonderful person!!) while also being respectful and accommodating of what I want for my hair. The salon is beautiful and I know it will always be a great experience.

Dee is super cute and kind - while simultaneously giving me the best haircut I think I've ever had. I have super thin, fine hair and Dee is the first stylist to actually know how to cut it in a way that looks good. It's a trek for me, but I will be back!

I have been going to Krista for over 4 years now and she is the absolute BEST when it comes to curly hair. When I first saw her, I didn't really know how to properly style my curly hair, and she took the time to teach me some amazing tricks that I still use to this day! Her appointments are very efficient and timely, and the space is clean, trendy, and inviting. Also she has a wonderful personality and is a joy to chat with! I know that curly haircuts can be scary, but you can trust Krista will take care of you and make you look great!!

I have curly hair and had it cut by pretty much one person exclusively in my lifetime, and when I moved to chicago the search began to find someone who could match my first hair stylist. Krista not only matched her, she has far surpassed her. I’ve literally never had a bad haircut with her, and if you have curly hair, you know how rare that is. She’s great with color and has helped steer me as I dipped my toe into that adventure as well. I cannot recommend her enough!!! She’s the best!!!!

As someone who struggled to find a knowledgeable curly hair expert anywhere in Chicagoland, I can’t imagine trusting anyone else with my hair. I wanted to give a super special shout out to Dee. She always does such an amazing job on my hair that I can’t imagine not having her manage my mane. I get so many compliments from her styles and she’s made me feel like the best version of myself each time I leave her salon. She’s also a blast to chat with, not only do I love my hair, her warm and open vibe puts me in great spirits for the rest of the day.

Krista, one of the co-owners who started the salon, is the best curly hair stylist ever. She's taught me more about my hair than any other stylist I've ever been to. The store itself is beautiful, and right around the corner from my building (bonus!). It's small, quiet, and only the two of us because of covid restrictions. One of the best things about Spruce is the measures they have taken to protect themselves and their clients. Highly recommend!

I just had my fine, but very curly hair cut with Dee. She is amazing! She worked really nicely with my hair. She suggested products that might work well, but was not pushy about them. Dee gave me great suggestions for working with my curls. I will definitely be going back!

Absolutely love this salon. Krista is simply amazing. I have followed her all over Chicago. While I can only give insight into her men's cuts, she is the only person I trust to cut my hair (had a couple bad ones prior to her).
