My favorite zen sanctuary in all of LA!! Have come many times for sauna/cold plunge and once for a garden massage. Just so blissful and perfect. A bit pricey but it’s always a treat when I come.

This place has the worst customer service ever!!! They hung up on me while I waiting 15 min on the phone! Horrible

Service was exceptional. Anthony is a true magician and gave me the best massage of my life. I can’t even believe this place is on abbot Kinney it feels so tucked away and magical.

Den Mother has consistently shown to be my favorite spot to relax, rejuvenate, and revitalize myself when needed! I highly recommend this place for anyone. The staff are all so friendly and helpful, and really do match the vibrational energy of the space. Something that isn't so common these days. Cold plunge/sauna has been my go-to and their set-up is always clean and well-maintained, as well as the added layer of privacy. Additionally, there is the beautiful garden to relax in after you've had a treatment, in which you can order teas, coffees, and even food. Shout out to Andy, Layla, Jeremy, and the rest of the DM staff for being so accommodating, warm and welcoming. See you again soon!

Such a beautiful and calming environment! I am bringing all my friends here!

Not a welcoming spa and location when my wife and I entered. We felt strangely looked at and it didn’t feel welcoming for us both. We asked a few questions because we wanted to try their beautiful location, but it wasn’t the welcoming embrace we could appreciate. Hopefully you as a reader understand ultimately what we felt. But that’s all.

This place was awesome. Seems like it got some negative reviews for check in but the person I worked with this morning was great and super kind. However, the reason for the 5 stars was the set up. The private plunge/sauna/shower area was incredible. Great vibes, very private and overall just very cool. It’s a bit pricey for a 30 min experience but I would say worth it to try out. Plunge pool was 40 when I got the first appt this morning. One of the colder ones I’ve done

This place was beautiful when we first walked in and once greeted by the staff it was clear that they did not have an interest in helping myself or my husband. They were uninviting and one staff member didn’t even greet us and walked off in the middle of our conversation. I am in this industry and wanted to support another facility but I definitely would not come back or spend any money here. I will reach my staff on how not to make people feel.

The good: the ambiance is tranquil and the store selection is well curated. I think they do a great job with the “locker that travels with you” concept with personal items in baskets since they don’t have lockers. Very creative and it works. The great: our two massage therapists were fabulous. My massage therapist Courtney was a skillful practitioner who, had my front of house experience been different, I would absolutely love to see her again. The bad: our front of house experience wasn’t great. First of all, we did the ritual foot soak. I am very allergic to coconut, so I asked for an alternative. I was met with such weird energy and was told “your bath with just be tea then.” I ended up PURCHASING a bath fizz for myself to put in the water so I at least something was happening. I think however it is wild that there’s no consideration or alternative for allergies, no desire to make it better, and honestly I felt like I was inconveniencing THEM by having an allergy. I don’t think the world revolves around me because of my allergy, but I have never been met with such hostility and lack of accommodation before. Beyond that, the payment policy is at best suspicious and at worse bad practice and possibly illegal. When I went to pay cash, they said they are cashless. Ok, you’re cashless. I went to provide the tip in cash. They won’t accept gratuity in cash, they’re cashless. Then, when reviewing my bill, I realized they charge a 3% processing fee. So I can’t pay legal tender for the service rendered at the price advertised but I also must pay a processing fee in order to pay for my service? I know it’s Venice but that is ridiculous. Also, the gratuity policy really gives me the ick. I managed high end spas for many years, and I have never seen that policy. I don’t know the why behind this so don’t want to assume. I just hope, HOPE, that their practitioners at the very least get 100% of THEIR gratuity. My service itself was great, the customer service was not great, and the payment policies are baffling. I don’t think I can morally bring myself to return. Blergh.

Came back for the second time, drawn back by our good first experience with the sauna and cold plunge. Unfortunately, this visit was a major letdown. Upon arrival, the room wasn't ready, and when I asked if we could wait inside by the bar area, we were told it was too crowded and had to wait outside. However, once we were finally allowed in, the lounge area was less than half full. Inside the cold plunge room, the floor's paint was peeling, and there were spots of mold on the wood. They had replaced the spacious white cold plunge tub with a small black one where you couldn't fully extend your legs. The once high-quality Salt & Stone hair and body products had been swapped out for their own homemade versions in random bottles. Despite these changes, the price had increased by $10, with no shampoo provided. When I asked for a hair dryer, I was shocked to learn they didn't have one. Overall, the experience felt subpar and not worth the higher price. It seems their focus might be more on massage services now, but I won't be returning for their sauna and cold plunge offerings. For cheaper, I can get better experience elsewhere.

This review is a few weeks overdue! I came in last month for a Keep Your Head massage. I’d been really stressed prepping for a major surgery. Needless to say, all of that stress decided to set up shop in my head and neck. I figured I’d give this massage a shot to see if it could help. I’m glad I took that chance! The front desk team was great, and I had a chance to relax on the front porch before my massage. My massage therapist, Devin greeted me with the most kind and calm spirit. Her skills were top notch! She performed her magic on my head and neck, and I left feeling like a weight was lifted off my shoulders. My friends even commented that my face looked thinner (shout out to the lymphatic drainage) and glowing. If you’re in need of tension release in your head + neck, don’t hesitate to book! Definitely coming back in the future.

I recently had the most amazing experience at Den Mother Spa in Los Angeles, and I can't stop raving about it. This spa truly offers a tranquil and beautiful escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. I visited Den Mother Spa with my friends as part of our girls' weekend in LA, and it exceeded all our expectations. We decided to try the Reflexology massages in the garden area, and it turned out to be the perfect choice. The garden setting added to the serenity of the experience, with lush greenery and a soothing ambiance that instantly put us at ease. My therapist, Devin, was an absolute gem. She provided one of the best massages I've ever had. Her expertise and attention to detail were truly impressive, and she made sure I felt completely relaxed throughout the entire session. One of the unique features of Den Mother Spa is that they offer little cocktails to enjoy during your massage, which added a delightful touch to our already fantastic experience. Sipping on a refreshing drink while receiving a top-notch massage was pure bliss. Whether you're looking for a solo escape or a memorable experience with friends, this spa delivers on all fronts. The tranquil atmosphere, skilled therapists like Devin, and the option to enjoy cocktails make it the best hideaway for relaxation and rejuvenation in Los Angeles.

Ultimate chill vibes! The girl who gave me my facial, had magic hands, and the different products they used smelt like I was in a botanic garden. My second service was my sitting massage at first I was sceptical because I was hoping to have a lie down massage but second to none I had the most lovely experience. Holly, was beautiful, intelligent and healing. I felt like I left with a friend. I would highly recommend this spot to anyone. I would also love to give a shout out to the guy who was checking up on everyone to make sure we were all good. He was so down-to-earth and approachable! High five to him!

Booked a massage, paid the deposit, and then was given a call by the “manager” to say that he needed to cancel and book me for another day because the spot belonged to someone else who had “called in earlier.” He apologized once, but had the worst attitude and zero care that it was his mistake, and then just cancelled my appointment. For how expensive this place is and the many other reviews I’ve seen, I expected more in terms of customer service and experience

Den Mother is the most magical spot on Abbot Kinney. Not only is the space beautiful, but every service they offer is incredible. I have spent time in the sauna / cold plunge room and it’s beautifully decorated and they allow you to chill in the yard space and enjoy tonics afterward. It’s the perfect gift for friends & s.o.’s! I have been working with Elisa for over a year now doing what they call “The Den Method” and I cannot sing her praises enough. She is so knowledgeable and kind, and simply has a solution to any health ailment. I went to her initially for stubborn hormonal acne and she has helped me tremendously in reducing the inflammation while also helping me tackle other underlying conditions I had no knowledge of. If you’re looking for a solution and not just a “bandaid” to any problem, please do yourself a favor and meet with her!!!

I am so sad I really wanted to love this place! Everyone was so nice but the massage was absolutely horrendous. I got deep tissue and there was nothing more than insanely light rubbing. I had a ton of uncomfortable, kinks and knots in my back and she wasn’t able to find one. I don’t want to say who it is because she was so sweet, but just very very bad at massaging. Beautiful place but need more experienced masseuses especially for how expensive it is.

I had an amazing manuka honey facial with Devin! I already can’t wait to go back!

I really wanted to like this place, but overall I’m disappointed. It’s very overpriced for the experience. My boyfriend and I went and got the garden massage, which was done in like an open area with other people that were just hanging out at the place. While we had our massages, people kept staring at us which made us so uncomfortable. You def do not want to have an audience while getting a massage, specially if you’re alone or with a partner. The place is very nice, but it was def not worth it.

Love the relaxing atmosphere. It is a spa but also cafe area that you can order from Butcher’s Daughter next door. Nice outside area to relax and have a snack or a drink.

The most beautiful setting and caring staff. I love the option to enjoy food and drinks while getting a delightful massage! The sauna/cold plunge 10/10🤌🏼 I’ve had facial sculpting as well that was heavenly. I can’t wait to go back!

This space truly feels like Abbot Kinney- the vibe is so relaxing and welcoming. I had the foot soak and massage and was so relaxed and felt so taken care of. It is a really special place!

Unfortunately... wasn't impressed. I was lured here by Instagram and in reality it wasn't what I was expecting. I felt like it was overpriced- massage itself wasn't relaxing. We were running late so massage was cut short. The room wasn't what I expected, it was small and not very luxurious. During the massage it was loud. You could hear noise, people talking etc. I definitely need another massage to correct the one I had.. bruised and uncomfortable. But I also had the deep tissue massage with cupping. Customer service- they were very nice. FYI 18% tip is automatically included (unless you wanted to change it for any reason). The space itself was cute. But small. Wish we could have taken advantage of the cold plunge or sauna. We lounged around in our robes afterwards and it was relaxing. Bar service was slow (and it wasn't crowded at all. So slow that I never even received the matcha latte that I ordered LOL.

Went to Den Mother for the first time and it was incredible. Had a Swedish massage with Priscilla and left feeling new. She was incredibly inquisitive and interested in focus areas and thoughtful about how to make the time worthwhile. Would highly recommend both her and Den Mother. It is a beautiful little facility and I’ll be back for sure.

First, the decor/ambiance: absolutely charming and beautiful -- love coming for a sauna/cold plunge and tea in the garden. You can even order from the restaurant next door as well (Butcher's Daughter). Ok, so now onto the in-room massage: sadly, it was probably the most disappointing massage I've ever had...felt like someone was just lightly slathering oil on my skin. I did let the receptionist know of my experience, and was told that's just the style of the "ayurvedic" massage; yikes. Isn't an ayurvedic massage supposed to hit pressure points? Zero pressure and the woman didn't seem to have any real massage technique -- particularly shocking given that this is an upscale place! Whatever was going on, I left highly agitated. **To be fair, I've had a few foot massages in the outdoor garden, and one of them was INCREDIBLE (a male masseuse with really firm hands and good technique.) Hoping they have more consistent high-quality massages in the future b/c this place really is so lovely!!

I had a really great experience here. There is no parking anywhere so just pay the $12 valet on the corner. You’ll spend 30 minutes trying to find parking on the main street and the residential areas. While there, they provided robes, sandals and water. The shower had lotion, body wash and shampoo. We did the sauna/cold plunge for 30 and it felt rushed so I recommend doing it for more time to thoroughly enjoy your time here.

Den Mother is incredible! The most relaxing /indoor/outdoor zen house. I came with my cousin for her birthday and we did contrast therapy (sauna + cold plunge tub) and we loved it. We relaxed afterwards in the outdoor garden & had a snack & some drinks. Cannot wait to come back! The perfect wellness spot.

Friendly staff and pretty decor but if you book a 30 minute sauna treatment it includes filling out forms, them getting you situated so it becomes more like 15 minute treatment. So definitely not the best place if you don’t want to feel rushed. The lady checking me in also told me there is another person booked 10 minutes right after me, which doesn’t seem to be enough time for a proper clean up. It is also missing some final touches; no body lotion despite a wide range of products for purchase by the front desk and metal cups for water are a real bad idea for sauna.

Omg. The most luxuriant and zen experience from start to finish. I wish I could bottle Den Mother’s vibe. Everything from the sign in to relaxing in the garden space was just so chill and the team were just as lovely. I had a Swedish massage from Hayley K, who was amazing. I felt like a new person. 10/10 will be back!

The place is beautiful and very very cozy. However very disappointed about the massage although I am not picky at all. The therapist was clearly not experienced and would spend more time on one side or leave one arm hanging and the other not, I could also feel one of her nails was longer and I couldn't focus on anything else until the end. Basically you pay for the location. But if you want a good massage this is not the place. Oh and they also charge you 18% of tip no matter if you liked it or not and they only told me after I paid with my card...

Truly a zen oasis in the middle of city. Love it!! My weekly escape

Very possibly the most beautiful place I’ve ever been. I’m dying to get a treatment and have a group experience soon!
