I had 2 appointments in the days leading up to a very big party… I came to my first appointment with hair that I had personally ravaged by bleaching it at home for many years. I’d never had my hair professionally colored before. Joyce did such an incredible job, she brought me to tears! I’ve never gotten so many compliments in my life! I am forever grateful! A few days later, I came in and Joyce styled my hair for my party- she did exactly what I wanted (braids leading into a beautiful loose bun, and again, I could not have been more pleased

Joyce and D&D salon were great to work with for my wedding. We did hair and makeup for me and my bridesmaids, and it turned out really nice! One of my bridesmaids even said that was the first time that a makeup artist actually listened to what she wanted (something minimal/natural looking, not too done up). Everyone looked beautiful! Joyce also re-highlighted my hair before the wedding and fixed my hair slightly because it was a bit uneven at the bottom, and I was really happy with the results. Thank you!

Great first hair salon experience. Absolutely loved the cut. I was grateful that Joyce was willing to work with my thick hair. She took the time to answer my questions thoroughly and explained the details. She was personable and friendly and /open/, which I certainly appreciated. The salon was well lit and seemed clean and organized. I was called back diligently when I left a phone message. And she wasn't pushy. She didn't try to sell me products or a particular haircut. She was a little late to the appointment, but I understand that life happens. She was professional, and thorough, and for me, even the brushing was painless. A big thank you to Joyce Knuth, because every time I look in the mirror, I love the cut all over again. She literally nailed it on the head. (Pun intended.) Like, literally my dream hairstyle. And the prices were well appropriate, too. Would definitely come here again.

I got an amazing color that I got the exact color I've been trying to get and never had. First time I had been there and got a perfect color. Husband got a hair and beard cut- looks absolutely gorgeous on him.

This was my second time at the salon. In the summer, I booked an appointment online but did not specify the name of the stylist, I took first available. I did not like how the stylist cut my hair, I have very fine hair and she did not texture the ends and it just didn’t look good. I didn’t say anything because it is just hair, and it will grow out. After reading very good reviews about Joyce, this time I specifically booked my appointment with Joyce. However, when I arrived at the salon, Joyce was working with another customer. The hair stylist from the summer approached me and let me know that she would be cutting my hair. I was disappointed but I went with her, hoping this time it would be better. She quickly washed my hair. Then she combed out my hair starting at the roots. I have very fine and medium length hair that tangles easily, and it is best to start at the ends, to work through the tangled tresses. The yanking and pulling on my hair was very uncomfortable, but she was oblivious to my wincing. The other issues occurred during the blow dry. She was extremely rough when blow drying my hair, my hair got tangled on the brush and she just kept on going, yanking and breaking my hair. She had me turned away from the mirror and without announcement, twice she sprayed product on my hair from behind without warning, on both occasions the product got into my eyes. Additionally, she should have asked me if I wanted any product in my hair, which I actually don’t want. If she knows hair at all, it is very evident that I don’t use styling products on my hair. My hair is very healthy. Lastly, after the blow dry, I pointed out how uneven my hair looked, and asked her to texture the ends. She did, and my hair looks okay. I did not enjoy my experience with this stylist, I was handled roughly by her, and she completely lacked awareness. I gave her a very generous tip almost 30%. I did this because she will need the extra money if she keeps treating customers this way, she is going to lose them; like she has lost me. Perhaps, this is why Joyce passes on customers to her, because no one wants to book with her? A note to Joyce: If someone specifically books an appointment with you, they want their hair done by you. Don’t pass the person to another hair stylist. Update: After four months, I booked an appointment with another salon to get my haircut. The stylist informed me that my hair in the back had been cut uneven and one side was 1 inch longer. Good thing I normally wear my hair up because I must have looked like a wreck from the back when my hair was down!

I have never in my 51 years of living on long island, paid as much as I did for a cut and color as i did here in oneonta ny.Not only was it a temporary location, due to a flood at the permanent location, but it was just plain dirty. I tried to give the benefit of doubt, but, she should not be taking on new clients until she's back in her permanent location. Maybe if I were being pampered while there, I could understand the prices. But, it's just plain yuk. I asked for a price when I called & was told by the owner, let's see what you need, even though, we had decided I wanted my grays gone( root touch up) and a cut. No prices are available in this "temporary" location, so I was utterly shocked & appalled when she rang me up. I would drive back to long island and get my hair done & still pay less, including the gas the next time.

Responding to Kelly Bennett’s review. I’m from the Philly area and I highly doubt you could get any of Joyce’s services for less money. Yes, it’s a temporary location so she can still provide a life for herself. What you did NOT mention, which is primary, was whether you were pleased with the results. I’ve always left with a great cut and wouldn’t go anywhere else around here. Good luck Kelly finding anyone else with Joyce’s talent in this area. Go back to the island where you belong.

Did not get what I wanted. Did not even wipe off color off my skin therefore my skin burned on my hairline and I paid way to much for what I got. I do not recommend

Maybe it was just an off day, but my haircut (which only took 12 minuets) was pushed back 45 minuets. Which I understand, things happen. However within the 45 minuets I was only addressed once with a quick, "we'll be right with you". I was never asked my name to assure I had an appointment, I was never really addressed at all, no conversation and no apology from Joyce. When Joyce finally finished with the person before me she told me to sit in a chair and proceeded to take the girl outside for pictures. Then she sped through my haircut, leaving 3 times to take a phone call, and twice to just talk to another hairdresser in training (thankfully the hairdresser in training said to her, "That girl had waited for 50 minuets go take care of her"). My haircut came out nice but I had things to do that day, I was barley talked to, and my haircut was sped through despite Joyce taking her sweet time with the girl before me. However, I could tell from the other hairdressers that this was something special to Joyce as the others were on time with their appointments and apologized for Joyce's lack of punctuality. Also, $40 just for a cut. I would come back but I would request a different hairdresser. I felt very disrespected.

I recently relocated to the area and had not had my done since August. I called around to several area salons and most only worked certain days or were booked for months. When I called Denim and Diamonds, they were a breath of fresh air to speak with! They are kind, polite, took the time to get to know me, discussed what I wanted to do with my hair, looked at the pictures I had on my phone of what I was looking for, and genuinely made me feel welcome. It was such an AMAZING experience to be welcomed in and treated like family. My WHOLE experience was INCREDIBLE and the results were STUNNING! My hair not only looks so much better, but feels better too. The products, Olaplex that were used are awesome and high quality. A huge thank you to Joyce the owner of the salon who came in spent literally 4 hours on my hair on a week night. I left feeling like I was floating on air and looking like a hollywood movie star! I would ABSOLUTELY recommend this salon to everyone for all their beauty needs! I felt like I had been going there for years with all the great care, hard work, kindess, welcoming atmosphere, and compassion that the whole visit encapsulated. Not only were my needs more than met, but completely exceeded all of expectations! Thank you so much Joyce Knuth for a truly wonderful experience!!!!

Joyce did an AMAZING job with my hair!!! I got a cut and blow dry for a pretty good price, and it did not take very long at all. She said that she was running behind schedule, but the wait was not very long at all. I 100% recommend this place (and Joyce) to everyone in the area. She also does amazing jobs with men's hair as well.

Joyce and her team did an amazing job on the hair and makeup for my wedding. I have never felt so beautiful as I did on that day, and everyone commented on how great me and my bridesmaids all looked. My hair and makeup lasted the entire day - through photos, the ceremony, dinner, and dancing. Very professional looking, I would definitely recommend using Denim and Diamond Hair salon for special events

Used to go to her for my hair trim needs. Today a male threatened myself and another woman outside of her shop. I asked her to call the police and she told me no, to handle it by myself. I just got accepted to work for a great company and was planning on scheduling not only a hair trim appointment in a few weeks, but the rainbow coloration dyes as well since I'll be working at home and can look how ever I please now. Not anymore! You will never get my business again AND I will be spreading the word that you enable abusers and won't help your fellow woman when she's in trouble. Shameful.
