My stylist Lamonica was awesome. I got a layered bob and light auburn color treatment with a wash conditioner blow out and style. Great atmosphere I will definitely be going back.

I always have a great experience at this salon, no matter my stylist. Everyone is very professional, the salon owner is very communicative, and the environment is clean and comfortable. Recently got my first professional silk press by Zharia, and it turned out great!

I made a online appointment a week in advance with Breanna. The day of the appointment around 2 pm she called and pushed it from 4:45 pm to 5:45pm. When I got there she still had a client. I walked out in disgust. Beware of who you choose with the online appointment setter. Dontasia was great the first appointment. I had no choice to change due to a schedule conflict. She did the cut in the last picture. Edit: 01/18/2025 As a long time customer I am disappointed at the decline in this business. I made a appointment the week of Christmas for a New Year's day cut. A week later the stylist, Jenise Lisenby cancels on NYE at 5:56 pm claiming she never looked at the schedule. Ok so I rebooked with another stylist for the following Saturday. After waiting 30 minutes I was told the stylist, Sydney Bell wasn't even in the shop and to call her! So I left because, call for what? to reschedule when I'm here and she wasn't, ah no so I left. The owner then calls and offers a $35 discount for the two missed appointment on a $80 style. So on 01/18/25 I had another stylist, the 3rd by the way, finally do the cut. By now she is cold, Susan Ubakanma, I guess because she heard about the other two experiences that were out of my control because I have never been her client and she didn't know me. As a client to the shop for over 5 years I was still willing to give it a chance. So now according to this stylist the wash, cut and blowout that was all inclusive for $80 is separate and she charges me $110 then deducts the discount so I only got $5 off on the original price. Icing on the cake is a blowout without a style, heat press, nothing. The appointment was at 11:30 am and she is Done Done by 12:25 pm! First picture was the cut 01/18/2025, second picture of design and stock photo and the 3rd was 01/18/2020 by Dontasia! (Yes, coincidentally, I booked a cut same day 5 years later but this was the 3rd appointment booked in two weeks!), smh. I'm done!!! After reading the first review from 2020 I should have remembered the bad experience but I guess I only remembered the great cut from Dontasia . Please find me Dontasia!!!!

Glenda is the absolute best! Always very attentive to my hair needs. I go to her for my silk presses—my hair is actually silky when she’s done and they last a good while and I don’t have heat damage afterwards. So appreciative of her services.

I had my child’s appointment scheduled for 3:00 pm today. His stylist called and let me know 30 minutes before his appointment, that the manger wanted us to come after the shop closed because my child cried the first time and a client complained. I was shocked. I was told by the salon that they like to schedule children on the weekends around 3pm or later because children can cry or be upset while they’re getting their hair done and they don’t want them crying around other clients. I thought it was a little strange because I’ve been in hair salons, braiding places and ppls homes, etc. literally all around the world and that’s not a thing. Some children are tender headed and may cry. It happens. A professional would be used to working with all types of clients. Not here. He had his hair braided here for the first time in November, and I let them know then that he would probably be tender headed. I also paid over 100 dollars tip included for his stylist to do 4 braids. I’d already washed and blown out his hair prior to our visit. She just needed to put in four braids. He had a lot of hair and I wanted to pay almost triple what that was worth for her time. So today, the owner had the stylist call me without a regard for my child’s time, or mine and tell me to come later. There was no professionalism, because if there had been, A. The manager could have reached out to me. B. She could have reached out to me days before the appointment. C. She could have asked me what a good time was for me, and I would have taken off to have him there when there weren’t a lot of other clients since they were so disturbed by someone with real hair getting it done.. In A Salon. Instead they wanted me to spend time at the end of the day on a Saturday so that others weren’t uncomfortable. Inconvenient but I was willing to accommodate them, and I’m the customer. It wasn’t enough. She wanted me to bring my 3 year old at 5pm or 6pm like he was a pariah and the shop was closed and then have us sit there for three hours. He is well mannered and well behaved, and because he cried and was upset we needed the late night treatment? You don’t have to worry about me doing the work, and then you overcharging me again because we won’t be back. One time and done.

Let’s start by saying I had a last minute appointment right before Thanksgiving and Ms. Jenise HOOKED ME UP! I hadn’t had a silk press in over 4 years and was due for a major trim/cut. She took me from “who did it and why?” to “Boss and CEO!” I got so many compliments on my silk press and how healthy my hair looked. I can’t wait to get back in her chair. I finally found someone who can tame this wig. Thank you so much Different by Design

Go get your hair done at different by design hair salon by Blessun. She’s such a joy and well mannered. She makes you feel good when arriving and leaving. Her talent to do hair and communicate with her clients are magnificent. I’ll recommend her any day

My daughter wanted a blow out the weekend before her birthday last minute. It was right before closing time for different by Design and Monica was so nice and fit me in with Zharia which agreed to take the appointment. Upon arriving at the salon it was so much positive energy flowing the professionalism was High standing. Not only did my daughter enjoy getting her hair done with all the kindness and positive communication I also enjoyed it as well. Time went by too fast I didn't even want to leave neither did my daughter we had so much fun there the smiles laughter professionalism kindness and positive energy withZharia and Jenise. I apologize for the lateness of this review being that this was 2 weeks ago but here it is. These three ladies where the most respectable professional kind-hearted with positive energy individuals and I will be returning.

Went today for the first tome for a weave take down and wash/blow dry. Zharia was my stylist and she gave an excellent wash it felt AMAZING. The salon was nice and clean , will definitely be coming back for more services 🙂.

Listen…. I must admit I am very “tender-headed” and when I tell you…JENISE LISENBY have some magical hands growing hands! I can’t even feel her touching my hair nor my scalp, her hands put me to sleep each time! SO RELAXING WHEN SHE DOES MY HAIR! Plus she keeps my hair growing! She is so knowledgeable about my type grade of hair and gives me advice on what style is best for my hair. JENISE is very up-to-date with the latest trends of hairstyles! JENISE takes the time to get to know her clients and what hairstyles they like for example JENISE knows that I love layers and big hair! JENISE LISENBY IS THE G.O.A.T. hands down! Sadly, I was not pleased with my service. Scheduling was easy via Vagaro- communicated w the stylist via IG to confirm a style could be completed. Upon arriving for a 9am appointment the doors were locked and no one answered the phone for either location. The stylist arrived ⏰ late and the service did not begin until approx 9:25am. I was informed via IG of a discount for the inconvenience which I did not receive. I paid the full price plus the tip. Time is valuable for both parties and I took the morning off from work with an anticipated timeframe. The other thing I’m not impressed with is the amount of gel used. The service I received was two strand twists with my natural hair and now I have this sticky goo in my hair and scalp that makes my ears and neck sticky and dare I touch my hair. Unfortunately I work long hours but soon as I have the time I’ll be washing my hair.

I have been here a few times and I must say the staff is very sweet. However I have had multiple instances where I was not satisfied with my hair but kept giving chances because I liked the vibe of the salon. However today I went in for a trim and said I did not want much in the front cut off because I have been growing it out from breakage. Initially I was happy with my results but upon leaving and further examining of my hair I have a very noticeable straight blunt cut in the front and I am extremely sad because I have been growing my hair out. It’s such a deep cut I am not sure I can blend it with the rest of my hair. I normally do not write reviews but I am upset because I don’t understand what happened. It will take a while for it to grow and blend in. Overall the establishment is clean and the staff is welcoming but unfortunately I will not be trusting anyone to ever cut my hair again.
